I don't mean to kvetch but, some things just really annoy me. Some things just don't make sense, and I just need to vent for a minute. Maybe you find these things annoying too. If so, this might be the show for you!
The show may be called Kvetch and Kvell, but we all know that Darone does more kvetching than kvelling, but this week he is trying to change that a bit. Today’s episode comes from a Facebook post he wrote at the end of the day on Thursday, June 6. How do you listen to Kvetch […]
So, did you see the joke about Anne Frank taking a selfie in a bikini. Did you follow the aftermath where the Harvard humor magazine the lampoon apologized for making the joke. Well, obviously this is a topic that Darone is going to want to kvetch about, but his kvetch may not be what you […]
This week Darone has quite a kvetch. When the Museum of Jewish Heritage decided they needed a new url for their latest exhibit, they had lots of urls that they could choose from. The one they chose, is just kvetch (or maybe even kringe)-worthy. What do you think? Does the url they chose make it […]
This year Darone insisted that he wasn’t going to do a Pesach episode complaining about all of the things people complain about on Pesach (the Seder is too long, nobody enjoys matza, kashering the house is so exhausting, KP Cheese is yucky, why is everything so expensive…) but that didn’t mean he couldn’t find something […]
Darone likes Jewish music, well some Jewish music. Jewish parody music, you know when they take a regular pop song, and make it Jewish, or some of the songs by Adam Sandler, yuck. They all go to the lowest denominator and focus on stereotypes and, well, it is just something that Darone felt the need […]
With seven Purim Kvetches in the bag, what possible issue could Darone still have to Kvetch about with regards to Purim? Take a listen to find out just what he is so annoyed about this year! Want to listen to Darone’s past Purim Kvetches? Hamilton Parodies (2016) Hamentashen (2017) Simchat Torah (2017) Purim (2017) Purim […]
When Darone said he wanted to do an episode on this one, everyone at JCast Headquarters were scratching our heads, but then when we heard what he had recorded, we all sort of agreed. Not sure if it is a kvetch, or a kvell, and not sure how Jewish it is, but it is a […]
It must be in our DNA! Every parent needs to have the fight, as they were on the other side of the argument when they were children. Even when your children enjoy prayer, no one enjoys getting ready for shul… What in the world could frustrate him soo much? You will have to listen to […]
In a rare Kvell, Darone talks about the enjoyment he gets when he hears his children singing the songs and prayers they learn at school to themselves in the shower. It is somehow the combination of their voices and realizing that it is these special songs that are on their lips, that just make Darone […]
It’s MLK Day today, and the kids are off from school. Since the election of Barak Obama, MLK Day has in many places become a day of service, and wouldn’t it be nice to spend the day doing just that, sure? Is it possible… not so much, and that reality has really got Darone Kvetching […]
Christmas is over I said, move on I said, wait until next year I screamed, but nope, Darone could not wait another year before he complained about one aspect of being Jewish on Christmas. What in the world could frustrate him soo much? You will have to listen to find out. How do you listen […]
On Christmas Eve Day, it is no surprise that Darone would want to kvetch about school vacations, but this time, perhaps he has a point…
In this episode of The JCast Journey, host Darone Ruskay returns for his semi-annual request for support. Have you been listening to JCast Network podcasts for days, weeks, months, years? Well as we say, podcasts are free to listen to, but not free to produce. Darone discusses some the cost of keeping the network afloat, and […]
No, Darone isn’t about to kvetch about prayer in public schools, he has something to say about going to school to participate in family davening at his children’s Day School. While his instincts are to kvetch about it, at his heart all he can do is kvell!
I don’t know what you think, but Darone has some strong feelings about what you call your Rabbi. Take a listen and hear why! Let us know what you think by reaching out to us on Facebook at http://facebook.com/JCastNetwork. See you in two weeks.
Before we start, let me be clear, Darone could easily do a Kvell about the amazing experience of taking his children to Orlando for a Disney vacation. It was an experience that he will never forget, but if you have been listening to Kvetch for the last 60+ episodes you know that Darone can always […]
Darone loves the word phylacteries, but doesn’t wear them often. For those who don’t know, phylacteries is another word for tefillin. But wear them or not, what in the world would he have to kvetch about them? Take a listen to find out. Also, if you could, please consider making a donation to JCast Network […]
Darone sure is frustrated this week. Why? Because of Columbus Day! Not because it should (or shouldn’t) be called Indigenous Peoples Day! Why then is Darone so spastic? Listen to today’s episode and you will understand why it is such a problem (or at least why he think it is).
In the days after the High Holidays, you can’t be too surprised that Darone would want to Kvetch about the length of religious services, but in an unusual swerve, Darone actually has more of a Kontemplate (you know the K is just to stay in the Kvetch and Kvell model) on the length of religious […]
Regardless of whether you spell it Hummus or Chumus or Chummus, there is no question that Hummus has taken over! And when something takes the world by storm, you know that Darone will find a reason to kvetch about it. Please consider making a donation to JCast Network today.
Labor Day is a day that honors the worker, that we get off from work, and yet Darone still has reasons to kvetch, or does this episode turn out to be a Kvell? You will have to listen through to the end to really know.
‘Tis the season, and thus Darone is back and ready to kvetch about the coming High Holidays. What is driving him crazy this time? Seats, tickets, assigned or otherwise. Take a listen to learn exactly where his issues lie. If you can, please consider making a donation to JCast Network.
We know that Darone was just kvelling about his boys at Summer Camp last episode, but even then we knew that it wouldn’t last. So, in this episode, Darone is back to his usual grumpy ways about one aspect about camp.
As promised, Darone has finally done a Kvell. Although for him #AbbaCamp will always be the most special way to spend the hot months, but there is no denying that he is a fan of Summer Camp for his boys… Or is he?
This episode could have been a JCast Journey episode, but Darone was “in a mood” so it ended up as a Kvetch. As technology makes it easier and easier to launch a new venture, is there a moment when people don’t take the time to prepare before launch? Darone thinks so. Take a listen to […]
I know, just last episode Darone said that he was going to make this podcast both about Kvetching and Kvelling, but this week is a standard Kvetch, and it is one he is super-passionate about. If you know where he can find the candle that he remembers from childhood, please reach out. He would be […]
Welcome back. After a few weeks hiatus, Darone returns with an unusual “Kvetch” this week. He explains more about the changes that he hinted at last week on JCast Journey and shares how Kvetch may look different going forward. Let us know what you think on our Facebook page.
Darone has been to a lot of Passover seders over the course of his life. But at some point he noticed that in addition to the normal things that have always been on the Seder plate, there was Chazeret! Why is it there? What do we do with it? When did it show up? Darone […]
In the midst of Pesach, of course Darone is going to complain about something about the holiday. This time, BEITZA, or Egg. Take a listen, you know you want to!
Just over a month ago a young man walked into a school in Florida and killed seventeen students. While upsetting, this doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that Darone would want to Kvetch about. So, is he complaining about guns? About senseless murder? About the student response? You will have to listen to this […]
Purim has passed, and you would think that after all of these years of this podcast, Darone would have run out of things to complain about when it comes to Purim, but if that’s what you think, you really don’t give Darone enough credit for finding what to Kvetch about.
As they say, ‘Tis the Season… for Darone to Kvetch about Purim. If you have been listening to this show for any amount of time, you know how Darone feels about Purim and Simchat Torah, but what does he still have to Kvetch about after this many episodes? Take a listen to find out.
The Kiddish Club is the group at many synagogues that leave right after the Haftara to drink a lachaim (shot of alcohol) or two in the synagogue lobby. What about this would make Daorne Kvetch? You will have to take a listen.
While this may not seem like a Jewish topic for a Kvetch, the image that prompted it was someone davening (praying)… Listen to Darone’s take on this scourage of society.
All we can say this week is that when you think Darone is going to zig, you can be sure that he zags. Take a listen to this latest episode of “Kvetch.”
Yeah, you read the title correctly. For reasons unclear, Darone has chosen today, Christmas Day to Kvetch about Al Capone. You wouldn’t believe it if I told you why he chose this to Kvetch about, so please just take a few minutes to listen to his Kvetch, and let us know what you think. As […]
Nobody who actually knows Darone could possibly think that he is a fan of the current President, which is what makes it extra surprising that he is Kvetching about this aspect of Chanukah, and the White House, but Kvetch he is, and our job is to share it with you. As we are approaching the […]
We know that as you have listened to Kvetch, you have begun to expect a certain something and that something is, well, a kvetch. Well, today, when you expect one thing, you get another. Maybe it is because Friday would have been his mother’s birthday, or maybe it’s because he went to a funeral on […]
This weeks Kvetch comes from an experience that Darone had this week when he was accosted on Facebook Messenger by someone he doesn’t really know. This lead to Darone kvetching about the blur between the private and the public now that we all live our lives (for good and bad) publicly on Social Media.
Isn’t Darone done “kvetching” about the High Holiday season? Not on your life… This time Darone returns to one of his go-to kvetches, in fact, you can hear him talk about it in this episode from March 2017, right after Purim. Hopefully, this will be Darone’s last kvetch about the holidays, but… who knows!
By the name of this episode, you probably already know what Darone has to complain about in today’s episode of Kvetch, but why not listen, maybe you will enjoy anyway.
If you are one of the few non-Jewish listeners to this podcast, you will be completely confused (and possibly revolted) by this weeks episode. I am Jewish and I am not sure I want to ever hear Darone go off on this issue again.
On September 30th, 2017 there will be a March for Racial Justice in Washington DC. September 30th is also Yom Kippur, and no surprise, the Jewish community is up in arms. What side of this issue do you think Darone will come out on this time? Take a listen to find out. Please consider making […]
At his latest concert at Madison Square Garden, The piano man, Billy Joel wore a yellow star on his suit jacket as a statement of support for the Jewish community and against the rising Alt-Right/KKK/Nazi sentiments in our country. What on earth does Darone see a problem with about this? You will have to listen […]
After recording his last episode of Kvetch, Darone was immediately ready to jump back in and record again, this episodes focus… Kashrut. But he doesn’t complain about cheese, or wine, or two sets of dishes, no… Darone wants to kvetch about why chicken and beef are meat, but fish is not. What do you think? […]
If you know anything about Kvetch host Darone Ruskay, you can’t be too surprised that he would find something to kvetch about when it comes to Tisha B’Av, but we think you may be surprised to see what he has stuck in his craw about this, most solemn day in the Jewish calendar.
OK, so after last episode, Darone got a bunch of people asking what was Jewish about his Kvetch…. So, this episode Darone focused on something very in the beltway. In fact, you might say that there kvetching about Tefillin is going a bit overboard, but then again, isn’t that what Kvetch is all about?
The Jewish content on this Kvetch is a little light, and the whole episode (if said in a different tone) could have been an episode of #AbbaCamp, but since Darone already wasted his kvetch about fireworks in May, this week he focuses on SAND. You know, the gritty stuff that gets stuck in your everywhere, […]
It is clear that Darone is just being pedantic, because he isn’t upset about people who have converted to Judaism, it is just about the words. Listen to how Darone gets himself out of this hole that he has dug for himself.
What on earth would Darone have to complain about with regards to the Jewish star of one of the largest Superhero movie of the year? Oh, if you have been listening to Kvetch for a while, I bet you can tell, but if not, take a listen to this episode and see what Darone has […]
Darone has really got a bee in his bonnet this week (it should be noted that JCast Network has never before used the phrase “bee in a bonnet”, but this week it seems appropriate. When Darone was in primary school he had to prove that he was wearing tzitsis every morning during tefillah, and he […]
