Instead of questioning any of this, everyone decides it's proof that Janet is still alive. Hope and Hank kidnap Scott, replacing him with a giant ant wearing his ankle monitor. The trio sets out to rescue Janet, but first they need a special part from shady businessman Sonny Burch. Sonny immediately realizes there's money to be made and betrays them, leading to a fight with a mysterious masked woman called Ghost, who steals Hank's entire portable laboratory. Trying to get their lab back, they visit Hank's old partner Bill Foster, who explains that Ghost is actually Ava Starr, the daughter of another former colleague whose experiment went very, very wrong. Ava is now phasing in and out of existence and is constantly in pain. Her plan? Steal Janet's Quantum Realm energy to save herself. The only problem is that doing so might kill Janet. Meanwhile, Janet starts sending messages from the Quantum Realm and provides directions. She warns them they only have a couple of hours before the Quantum Realm decides to strand them for another hundred years. Things get complicated. Sonny learns where they are. The FBI arrests Hank and Hope. Ava steals the lab. It's alot but also nothing. Eventually, Scott helps everyone escape, they recover the lab, and Hank ventures into the Quantum Realm to rescue Janet. He finds her alive, looking surprisingly well for someone who's spent decades trapped in a dimension beyond space and time. What follows is a giant chase across San Francisco featuring shrinking buildings, growing cars, a whole lot of size changing. While Scott and Hope deal with Sonny and Ghost, Hank successfully brings Janet home. Rather than holding a grudge, Janet uses her Quantum powers to stabilize Ava and save her life. In the end, Scott finally completes his house arrest, Sonny gets arrested, Ava and Bill go into hiding, and everyone seems happy. But then the mid-credits scene happens. And it's no longer happy go lucky time. Scott heads back into the Quantum Realm to collect healing energy for Ava. Just as he's ready to come home, Hank, Hope, and Janet all turn to dust thanks to Thanos. Scott is left trapped in the Quantum Realm. Have you ever been exposed to radiation and walked away all the better for it? Or maybe you have a coworker who's secretly an alien from another planet… and thankfully, one of the good ones? On this week's episode, we examine the thin line between the iconic and the absurd as we rank the best—and worst—superhero origins. We talk about why, as kids, we were so obsessed with where these heroes came from—so much so that Marvel and DC built entire issues around origin stories. We debate the scientific accuracy behind how our favorite characters gained their abilities, while also exploring what truly motivates them. For instance, Batman and Spider-Man are driven by loss, while Captain America and Wonder Woman are fueled by duty and a sense of mission. Along the way, we ask a few questions: Have certain superhero origins been rebooted too many times? Do heroes like Zatanna and Ghost Rider feel less “super” because their origins are rooted in magic and the occult? Spider-Man is pulled into the chaos, and after they captures Strange aboard his spaceship, Stark and Peter Parker secretly hitch a ride into space to rescue him while Wong remains behind to defend the Sanctum. Meanwhile, the Guardians of the Galaxy answer a distress signal and save Thor floating in space. They agree they need to work together to stop Thanos. But they're too late. Thanos already possesses the Reality Stone and uses its power to manipulate everything around them. He captures Gamora after learning she knows the location of the Soul Stone. So we're back again pretty soon. Yay me for being productive. Boo this guy who stops by the home of Dr. Owens to show him some pictures of Chrissy and Owens is like so you're just going to let the local police think that poor metal head kid did this? And Sullivan is like I think it was a girl our government traumatized, we're clearly the good guys and Owens is like we shouldn't have ever taken this land from indigenous people… Over in California, Angela is still crying boo hoo FAFO Jonathon lets the talking bong drive and they discuss how roller-skates are made. They get home find that Joyce has taken a wife, and his name is Murray and he made risotto… Joyce tells them she has to leave and Jonathon is like leave where? where are we? Mike says “sitting across the table from a monster” and El is like “last straw hair boy” and Will is like “I can't even defend him about this” Lucas finds Jason loading guns and sharpening knives and saying “I just want to talk to him” over and over. Eddie shovels cereal in his mouth and wants the bad news first, always… ☹ Sirens cause him to pull an ostrich and shove his head under a tarp while the others go and find Nancy and she tells them the plot to nightmare on elm street but they tell her the plot to this season. Steve wants her again for no discernible reason except for he peaked in high school and she was that peak. She wants to go to the library and Robin has to go with her to be scowled at because Robin is poor… (literally that's the source of this)But good thing because Robin finds out that bigfoot might be real and Victor is innocent and this is not Venca's first rodeo. Mike is good at words for the first time ever but just for a second, but then Eleven says she's different and he's like “I know what you're going through” and she's like “excuse me white middle class male in the 80s, who lives in suburbia… I was ripped from my mother's womb and grown in a test tube and trained to be an assassin, I assure you, you do not.”Also, she keeps saying “From” and he's like J.J. Abrams and Harold Parrineau? that show is awesome. The cops find out that a teenage girl stood up for herself so she is promptly arrested. On a plane Murray tells Joyce her kids are on drugs and she braces for takeoff. In Russia Hopper is beaten by his new friend and gives someone bread to break his leg. Venca gets into the minds of Hawkins teens and punches them in the back of the head with his mind or something. And Jason finds Corroded Coffin sans Eddie and hits them in the front and Lucas is like “I just wanted to play basketball now I'm in two cults” Eleven is questioned by the police who ask if she wanted to kill Angela and she's like “she's not the only one, I want to kill so many people including both of you” and I'm like “she's literally allowed” Max steals some keys to break into the school and I'm like “she's also literally allowed” Jason is after Dustin now and this finally wakes Lucas up and makes him realize he's been riding around with the dark side. So he makes me proud and leads the douchebags in the wrong direction, and promptly gets the freak out of there. Eleven is taken away and then hijacked and then kidnapped by Owens who takes her to a diner and says “if you relive your entire childhood trauma I will buy you waffles” and she's like “Eggos?” and he's like “no” and she says “I'm a monster, I think I've killed a lot of people” and he's like “No one cares, you're literally the best, most innocent character of all of fiction now and in the past and future, you're an angel” Well he didn't but he was thinking it, along with everyone else Max finds out her “headaches” and “nightmares” are caused by an ancient monster terrorizing her with a grandfather clock. Roll credits.

Rebuilding Life After Stroke: Why You Can’t Go Back – And Why That’s the Point There’s a moment in stroke recovery that almost every survivor reaches. You look at the person you used to be. Your job, your relationships, your body, your identity, and you realise something that nobody prepared you for: you can’t get that person back. The question is what you do next. Greg Graham knows this moment intimately. An AVM (Arteriovenous Malformation), a rare tangle of blood vessels in the brain, changed the course of his life in an instant. What followed wasn’t just physical recovery. It was the hardest work of rebuilding everything from the ground up. What an AVM Stroke Takes From You An arteriovenous malformation stroke happens when a cluster of abnormal blood vessels ruptures in the brain. Unlike ischaemic strokes caused by a clot, AVM strokes involve bleeding into the brain. The consequences depend heavily on where the bleed occurs, and for Greg, the impact was severe. In the immediate aftermath, Greg found himself isolated. Six weeks of recovery largely alone. Relationships fractured under the weight of what had happened. The losses were not just physical; they were existential. The life he had built, piece by piece, was no longer available to him. “I’ve lost everything. I don’t see a way forward.” This is the thought that lives underneath so much of early stroke recovery. It’s not self-pity. It’s the honest reckoning that comes when the gap between who you were and who you now are becomes impossible to ignore. Why “Getting Back to Normal” Is the Wrong Goal The dominant narrative around stroke recovery in hospitals, in rehabilitation settings, in well-meaning conversations with family is built around return. Return to work. Return to independence. Return to your life. But for many survivors, this framing creates a wall they can never climb. The person they’re trying to return to doesn’t exist anymore. The brain has changed. The body has changed. The world has shifted in ways that can’t be reversed. Greg’s insight, hard-won through the kind of experience that can’t be faked, is that rebuilding life after a stroke isn’t about restoration. It’s about construction. Not returning to a previous blueprint, but laying new foundations with the materials you actually have. What Rebuilding Actually Looks Like Rebuilding after a stroke is rarely dramatic. It’s the accumulation of small decisions made under enormous pressure. It’s choosing to engage with rehabilitation when nothing in your body wants to cooperate. It’s finding a reason to get out of bed when the reasons that used to work have stopped working. For Greg, the path through began with a fundamental shift in framing. Instead of measuring recovery by what had been lost, he began to ask a different question: what is actually possible from here? That question is deceptively simple. But it’s the foundation on which real recovery is built. Because once you stop trying to recreate the past, you free up everything you have to build something new. The Identity Question Nobody Asks One of the least-discussed dimensions of stroke recovery is identity. Who are you now? Not in a philosophical sense, in a practical, daily, operational sense. If your work defined you, and stroke took your ability to do that work, who are you on a Tuesday morning? Greg’s experience speaks directly to this. The construction of a new identity after a stroke doesn’t happen overnight. It isn’t a single breakthrough moment. It’s a slow, deliberate process of discovering what you still are and what you’re becoming. This is why Greg Graham calls himself the AVM Superhero. Not because recovery was easy, but because naming what you’ve survived and choosing to carry it with you rather than hiding from it is itself a form of strength.
