This episode is about my relationship with the idea of loving someone else and myself and monsters that are created FROM love and the monsters created from being WITHOUT it. We all have our own monsters...some of them are worse than others.

In the past 2 years my wife and i have made huge changes in our lives. We are both fiercely independent, lived in cities most of our lives and basically not the kind of people our friends ever saw settling down at all. Because so much has happened we've both gotten a lot of "shock and awe" kinds of comments and they're mostly just friendly jokes... but what people dont know is that our story started a really long time ago and the way that we approached our relationship is one you dont hear of often so I decided to let the world in on a few things. It's not just about us though, its about all the different ways there are to love and be loved...and how it's necessary to open our minds to the fact that life isn't going to come at you exactly how you envision it. Everyone will have their opinion on what happened at the Oscars between Jada, Will Smith and Chris Rock. In this episode I break down everything I saw not only as I was watching it but everything I witnessed in the aftermath. For me, the biggest shock was the response I saw from women on social Media. A lot of these women I know and have seen post a million things about "toxic masculinity" but when it came time to call it out for what it was...no such things occurred. I also saw people attempting to make it an issue of race, of masculinity, of valor and so on...but for me it was none of those things. Everything that occurred as result of Chris Rock making a joke at The Oscars was the result of 2 peoples very fragile ego's. Being biracial can be a challenge or it can be simple. It can be neither here nor there or it can be extremely special. It's up to the person to decide, but I see it as an incredible opportunity and privilege to possibly be a bridge that connects people to other people or be a safe place for people to express themselves. Folks don't talk about it much but the world is becoming smaller and in the future it will become harder and harder to determine someones background just by looking at them...but its happening now and understanding the differences how we as biracial humans experience the world differently than others is important.

He's a local beacon of light and source for all things positive and I wanted to chat with him about life, and when I asked him to be on as my first guest he bravely said YES. Going with this series of episode regarding men and vulnerability he opened up about his restaurant closing down, his relationship with friends and his girlfriend...and helped me through my guilt of believing I was the worst dishwasher in the game..lol.
