This is the full conversation I had with Will Smith and Niklas James on the Acquiring Minds podcast in April of 2025. We broke down how I bought Somewhere.com, how I run my real estate private equity firm, and how I leverage offshore talent to scale revenue while saving costs. We discussed how I think about building teams, why sales is the foundation of all businesses, and why buying a company isn't a shortcut, it's a challenge most people aren't ready for.If you're thinking about buying a business, this episode will show you the side of acquisitions people rarely talk about. MUSICRoger Daltrey of The Who is now SIR Roger Daltrey. He was knighted by Prince William at Windsor Castle on Wednesday. It's in recognition of not only his musical achievements, but also his charity work. Here he is on the award, and what his younger self and band would've thought back in the day. https://consequence.net/2025/12/sir-roger-daltrey-knighted/ Sharon Osbourne has given her first interview since the death of her husband Ozzy this past July.Appearing Wednesday on the British TV show Piers Morgan Uncensored, hosted by her longtime friend, she opened up about his health struggles, doing his final show this past July 5th in Birmingham, England, their last conversations and much more. You can watch the show on YouTube, and here are a few excerpts:Sharon Osbourne on the last two weeks of Ozzy's life. OC:...in seven years. :27 [Courtesy of Piers Morgan Uncensored]"He was so happy Piers afterwards. And he kept looking at the papers and he goes to me, 'I never knew so many people like me.' But that was the way he was. I mean, he knew he was famous, but not to the amount that people loved him. It's a whole different thing. And he was just so happy. Happier than we'd seen him in seven years."Sharon Osbourne on dreams Ozzy was having the last week of his life. OC:...he was ready. :26 [Courtesy of Piers Morgan Uncensored]"He was having dreams the last week of his life. He was seeing people that he never knew. I said, 'Well, what kind of people?' He goes, 'All different people. And I just keep walking and walking and I'm seeing all these different people every night. And I go back there and I'm looking at these people and they're looking at me and nobody's talking.' And he he knew. He was ready." Sharon also talked about the first time she and Ozzy met, when they fell in love, how she will never want to get married again, how if she didn't have kids she would have killed herself when he died, and the thing she misses most is holding his hand.On a lighter note, she also talked about how she wanted to get back at Roger Waters for the negative things he said about Ozzy after he died. And that was by sending him a Tiffany box filled with feces, which she used to do to critics who wrote negative reviews about Ozzy's shows without being there. When she did, it was her infant son Jack's poop that would be used. She ultimately decided against it, saying, “Even that is a waste, to send [crap] to him. It's a waste because he's really insignificant. But I just thought, anybody that passes has a family… you don't do that.” (Sharon's not the first musician's wife to do that. Paul and Linda McCartney sent some of their daughter Stella's poop to a journalist who earned their trust, then betrayed them.)Going forward, Sharon says she's continuing to work on an Ozzy bio-pic and that she knows who she wants to play him. When asked if it was Yunglbud she didn't confirm nor deny.https://youtu.be/aaLMsEJKZEQ Kurt Cobain's MTV Unplugged Martin D-18E has been donated to the Royal College of Music London by Peter Freedman, who paid $6,010,000 for it at an auction in 2020. But there are plenty of other films that spark the same argument, "Is this actually a Christmas movie?" Here are 13 more:1. Every "Harry Potter" movie (2001 - 2011). All the "Potter" flicks . . . with the possible exception of the last one . . . have some kind of yuletide vibe . . . or at least a wintry one.2. "Batman Returns" (1992). One of the big set pieces is the lighting of the Gotham Christmas tree.3. "Eyes Wide Shut" (1999). Even though it was released in July, it takes place over Christmas.4. "Gremlins" (1984). This one has Christmas written all over it. And also little green, murderous demons.5. "First Blood" (1982). The first of the "Rambo" films has a Christmas tree in the background of one scene. So . . . Christmas movie!!!6. "Trading Places" (1983). There's a Christmas party, and Dan Aykroyd as a drunken Santa waving a handgun. But it doesn't end on December 25th. If it's a Christmas movie, then it also qualifies as a New Year's movie.7. "Kiss Kiss Bang Bang" (2005). This one takes place during the Christmas season in L.A. And it was released in November.8. "Edward Scissorhands" (1990). Kind of a no-brainer.9. "Lethal Weapon" (1987). Another one of those action movies that HAPPENS to take place around Christmas.10. "Rocky" (1976). This might be the greatest American holiday film of all time, because it includes Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's. And also punching.11. "Hook" (1991). The scenes in the real world, outside Neverland, are set at Christmas. 12. "Iron Man 3" (2013). The whole movie plays out around Christmas.13. "The Nightmare Before Christmas" (1993). Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesThe potential sale of Warner Bros Discovery has been a hot topic in recent weeks, but no one could have predicted the escalation and heightened stakes the bidding war has reached as Paramount CEO David Ellison announced a hostile takeover bid to the tune of $108.4 billion in response to what he described as Netflix's inferior $82.7 billion deal; a deal that seemed like an all but assured thing just days ago. It's been an uncharacteristically long time since James Gunn has given us a headline, but we may still be a day late and dollar short, as on Sunday the DC Studios head released a 10 second first look at Supergirl via social media, with the promise of the teaser trailer later in the week; which many have speculated to mean Thursday… Thanks, James! Also concerning DC: Four years after leaving the Marvel Cinematic Universe behind, Scarlett Johansson seems headed for Gotham City, with the actress in final negotiations to join The Batman Part II. Details about Johansson's potential role are being closely guarded, though speculation has already run rampant about which iconic Batman character she might portray, though being a new love interest for Bruce Wayne in some capacity is a popular guess in the wake of unconfirmed reports that Zoe Kravitz might not reprise her role in the sequel.More than seven years after its original theatrical run, Marvel Studios is bringing Avengers: Endgame, the second-highest-grossing film of all time, back to theaters September 25, 2026 just months before Avengers: Doomsday later that December. While it's still unknown how long the Russos Brothers' last MCU contribution will be back to the big screen, the placement between the releases of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in July and Doomsday in December, has fueled industry insider speculation suggesting the new Avengers film will act as a direct sequel to Endgame rather than closely following the events of Phases 4 through 6.HBO has revealed that the third season of Euphoria will begin streaming in April of 2026. This comes more than four years after Season 2 finished in February 2022.Hulu has renewed the Glen Powell led sports comedy series Chad Powers for a second season.20th Century Studios announced The Simpsons Movie 2 has been delayed from July 23, 2027 to September 3, 2027. Paramount and Blumhouse are reviving the Paranormal Activity franchise and bringing on James Wan to produce a new feature film in the franchise according to the Hollywood Reporter. Variety and CNN have revealed the star-studded lineup for the 23rd season of Actors on Actors. Some of the participants include Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Dwayne Johnson, Julia Roberts, and Ariana Grande. Sony Pictures has tapped Bad Boys For Life writer Chris Bremner to pen a new Men In Black film. Although plot details are not public, sources tell Deadline that when the script is complete, original series star Will Smith will be the first to read it in hopes that he will return to the franchise in some capacity. Prime Video has released the first trailer for the final season of The Boys. The show has an updated release date of April 8, 2026, which will see the release of two episodes. Episodes will then drop weekly, leading to the series finale on May 20th. Five Nights at Freddy's 2 opened to $109 million dollars worldwide over the weekend, a strong opening for the franchise. Additionally, last weekend's champion Zootopia 2 is nearing the one billion dollar mark with $915 million dollars worldwide so far. Sigourney Weaver is in talks to join the upcoming Tomb Raider series for Prime Video. Sophie Turner is set to star as Lara Croft, with Phoebe Waller-Bridge on as writer and executive producer.

Our guest this week, Jacob Scipio, began his acting journey practically straight out of the womb, signed by his aunt's boutique agency at birth and appearing on BBC television throughout his childhood. His path to becoming a working adult actor was far from easy, though; after auditioning for ten drama schools and getting into none, he found himself a broke student working odd jobs like landscape gardening. Tune in to hear the unbelievable sequence of events that followed, starting with a surprise call from the director of the American war film The Outpost and the white lie Jacob told to secure the job. He also shares the risky move he made by walking back into producer Jerry Bruckheimer's office and the hilarious, impromptu chemistry read with Will Smith that ultimately earned him the life-changing role of Smith's son in the Bad Boys franchise. It's a dream (or nightmare?) lefty-righty combo: Sheng is paired with just Dan Boyle today! Does Macklin Celebrini have a strong case for the Hart Trophy? Sheng thinks so. How about Alex Wennberg for…Selke? It's not as crazy as it sounds. We also discuss the state of the San Jose Sharks' blueline: Who deserves to play every night? What's going on with Shakir Mukhamadullin? What's a path for the young San Jose Sharks defenseman to get more consistent playing time? Dan is honest about what he's seen from John Klingberg this season. Sheng asked some NHL scouts about Nick Leddy. Finally, Dan recalls when he knew that it was time for him to retire. The Men in Black phenomenon started as rumours of a government agency, where strange men wearing black suits would visit witnesses of UFO sightings, and coerce and threaten them into silence. Real-life Men in Black sightings inspired countless conspiracy theories, making them a staple of UFO folklore since their first appearance in the late 1940s. It was only a matter of time before these sinister men were turned into a comic book, and then adapted into a movie, but how did a dark, obscure comic get transformed into a summer blockbuster that would gross over $589 million worldwide and launch a franchise?Director Barry Sonnenfeld and screenwriter Ed Solomon made the bold decision to completely reimagine Men in Black as a buddy-cop action-comedy, keeping only the core premise while building something entirely new around it, with the premise of New York being the hub of alien activity, and Earth a sanctuary for alien refugees. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones' on-screen chemistry made the titular Men in Black iconic, with Jones bringing his signature stoic humour to create the perfect counterbalance to Smith's energetic comedy, resulting in one of cinema's most memorable buddy cop pairings.Men in Black's impressive practical effects work earned Rick Baker's team an Academy Award, with cutting-edge animatronics and makeup seamlessly blended with CGI from Industrial Light & Magic, creating a visual experience that still holds up today. It's the perfect summer blockbuster, that was never intended or seen as a summer blockbuster. The script was constantly evolving, even into post-production, and the movie's plot was changed after test screenings forced an edit, and those changes would make Frank the Pug one of the most important characters in the movie...I would love to hear your thoughts on Men in Black !Verbal Diorama is now an award-winning podcast! The Sharks have surprised the league by sitting in a wildcard spot 27 games in, powered by 20-year-olds Macklin Celebrini—now second in league scoring behind Nathan MacKinnon—and Will Smith, though Ray still sees Anaheim as slightly ahead with better defence, size, and young depth. Team Canada faces a looming Olympic question: with a month until selections, can Connor Bedard realistically be left off the roster, and shouldn’t he at least be one of the two extras over another depth checker? Meanwhile, new concerns surface about Milan’s Olympic rink reportedly being four feet smaller than NHL size, and Ray wonders how much it would affect play. Trivia of the week: Crosby has scored on 167 different goalies, Ovechkin on 186—so how many did Ray beat in his career? We may need to crowd-sourse the answer. Winnipeg continues to spiral without Connor Hellebuyck, getting torched 5–1 by Buffalo as poor secondary scoring may be forcing players to cheat offensively and worsening their defensive issues. In Toronto, the Leafs may be exploring trades despite limited assets, with Troy Stecher making the most of a fresh opportunity amid blueline injuries. And in Carolina, the Hurricanes’ three-goalie system rolls on, with Brandon Bussi now 7–1 while facing just 27 total shots in his last two outings thanks to the Canes’ suffocating puck control.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

RUNDOWN We're celebrating the start of Year 8 of Mitch Unfiltered! Mitch checks in from Las Vegas—oddly with zero urge to gamble—while Hotshot breaks down his old roulette system and the painful bad beat that once drove him out of Vegas for years. Mitch and Hotshot geek out over the new Eddie Murphy documentary, then Mitch tells his favorite 10-seconds-of-fame story — yelling a deep-cut sketch line to Murphy at a 1985 stand-up show and getting singled out from the stage. They pivot to the Seahawks' 30–24 "no-win" win in Nashville, weighing how worried to be about letting a 30–10 lead shrink, while marveling at Jaxon Smith-Njigba's obscene pace (already breaking the single-season franchise yardage mark in 11 games) and explaining why Rams-Bucs, common opponents, and divisional records mean Seattle may need both a win over the 49ers and help from the lowly Cardinals to take the NFC West. Steve Phillips joins Mitch to unpack Seattle's near–World Series run — from Julio Rodríguez's late-season surge to the Game 7 choices that doomed the Mariners, including pulling George Kirby too early and avoiding Andrés Muñoz in the highest-leverage spot. He explains why modern analytics can mislead managers, why Aaron Judge rightfully edged Cal Raleigh for MVP despite East Coast conspiracy theories, and why extending Josh Naylor was the right call even if the back-end years sting. Brady and Jacson join Mitch to break down Seattle's 30–24 win over the Titans — a game that was far closer than it should've been against the NFL's worst roster. They dissect the defensive lapses (two long late TD drives, missed tackles, fatigue), Sam Darnold's clean but risky performance (a couple near-picks, heavy JSN dependence), and a quietly emerging run game anchored by Walker and Charbonnet. Rick Neuheisel joins Mitch to reset the entire college football landscape heading into rivalry week — from Washington's shot at a season-defining upset over Oregon to the seismic consequences of an eight-win finish versus nine. He breaks down the transfer-portal era attrition at programs like UCLA, the SEC's multi-team playoff math (with Alabama's "brand advantage"), and why chaos in Austin, Baton Rouge, and Oxford could reshape the playoff bracket if Lane Kiffin jumps jobs before December 3rd. My guest today is Demi Adejuyigbe. One of the things that makes Demi so special is how hard it is to summarize him in an intro like this, because he has so many talents and applies them in so many different ways. He is a standup comedian, with a brand new one-hour special out on Dropout TV. He co-hosted the podcasts Gilmore Guys and Punch Up the Jam. He's a screenwriter, who wrote on TV shows like The Good Place. He's famous on the internet for his parody songs, spoofing artists like Will Smith and Lana Del Rey; and for his September videos, where, for years, he made increasingly elaborate videos of himself, dancing to the Earth, Wind & Fire song. And he used the popularity of those videos to raise over a million dollars for charity. He's also directed several music videos, including one that he made for one of my songs, back in 2022. And for this episode, we're talking as much about a music video as the song within it. And that song is "You Only Live Once" by The Strokes.Demi's new special, Demi Adejuyigbe is Going to do One (1) Backflip, is on Dropout TV. For more info, visit songexploder.net/demi-adejuyigbe.
