Today we have the pleasure of hearing from Theo Edmonds, JD, MHA, MFA. Theo is a co-founder of CU Denver's Imaginator Academy, a cultural analytics strategy and futurist innovation hub. Theo is a skilled, energetic, culture futurist, and innovator with 25 years of senior level strategic national and international leadership experience, spent in the private, public, and non-profit sectors. As directing co-founder of CU Denver's Imaginator Academy, Theo is a weaver of ideas who scouts global networks of entrepreneurs, companies, scientists, artists, creative innovators, and change makers. In our discussion today, Theo describes the Imaginator Academy and the drive to keep innovation, curiosity, and the artistic mindset alive. At times, this isn't easy, especially within an organization and even more so during the Great Resignation. But Theo has a great outlook on things and by using the data the Imaginator Academy finds, we are seeing constant opportunities for innovation all around us.   In This Episode: [01:41] Welcome to the show, Theo! Theo shares his background. [03:05] Theo learned how to do different things to navigate a world he didn't fit in. [04:49] The things that promote wellbeing are autonomy, competence, and relatedness. [06:39] The feeling of belonging and community is something highly valued by Theo. [07:27] Where did the idea of the Imaginator Academy come from? [09:04] Theo had his eye on Denver because of what he wanted to be a part of. [11:12] A futurist is someone who pays attention and understands that there is a timeline that connects past, present, and future in compelling ways. [13:20] The way things have been established in the United States is for people to work in silos. [15:18] When you have a lot of innovative opportunities, who is the gatekeeper? [17:31] People in different societal groups, such as the LGBTQ+ community, have had to navigate dominant cultures that are not their own. [20:17] When leaders have biases, they have profound implications on resource allocation. [21:57] We have set ourselves up with systems we've created with unrealistic expectations. [24:09] We don't need more research on why this is a problem, but rather lean into the existing data to solve the problem. [26:22] The purpose of the arts has been misunderstood. [28:27] Theo explains the inspiration for starting a non-profit. [30:30] There are more artist residencies in organizations now, but it's not genuine and more for PR.  [32:56] There are some things involved that make private sector companies uncomfortable. [33:52] If you are an innovator, the celebration of failure is valuable. [35:16] Innovation in organizations takes messiness. [37:01] People are exhausted right now and it is impacting our innovation process. [39:02] Theo explains what the Imaginator Academy is doing regarding the Great Resignation. [40:45] What the Imaginator Academy does is not provide more surveys. [42:48] They put a data bridge in place between culture change and innovation. [45:23] In Denver, they are hosting their first Innovator Summit. [46:44] There are two components in researching curiosity. [48:53] Nature self manages creative tension beautifully, but in our human systems we focus on measuring strengths. [51:08] Theo describes the different types of people on the bell curve. [54:03] What does the research say about leaders and the people who derisk? [56:37] Data makes the stories believable and investable. Stories change the world. [58:16] Theo shares the hopes he has for the Imaginator Academy. [60:52] Companies will always have a human component. [62:25] There are opportunities for innovation all around us. [64:57] The Great Resignation is a result of Americans doing what we've always done. We're seeing Americans showing new signs of life and imagination.   Find Theo: Email

Rundown -    Jake Pucci - 13:47   Craig Reviews Dan Politica Deposition - 53:17   Alby Segall - 01:26:49   Troubadour Dave Gunders - 01:54:26   "Falling Rain" by Dave Gunders - 01:59:47   Jake Pucci is a Denver Colorado hero. His brave actions on June 10, 2020 saved the life of Darian Simon. Sadly, Isabella Thallas was murdered that day by Michael Close, the gunman convicted this week of her first degree murder, and the attempted fitst degree murder of Bella's boyfriend.   In the densely urbanized downtown Denver Ballpark neighborhood, shots rang out shortly before noon that awful day and instantly killed Isabella (Bella) Thallas. Bella and her boyfriend Darian had been walking their dog, Rocco, on a hot summer day during Denver's pandemic lockdown.   Jake Pucci was on the phone with his Dad when he heard the shots and sprang into action. Jake Pucci had EMT training and from five floors above, he ran to save Darian if he could. And he did! Save a life and you save the whole world. Thank goodness Jake Pucci saved Darian Simon.   Responding police and paramedics stayed back for fear of this active shooter. Darian would have bled out but for the tourniquet that Jake Pucci applied to Darian's femoral artery as blood gushed. Other bullet holes needed pressure and Jake Pucci got the job done. Heroes save lives. Fear be damned.   Hear Jake Pucci and try to determine why he rushed in when few others would do so. There are good people in Denver, Colorado, but we cannot tolerate these kinds of crimes. Young Mr. Pucci, himself a gun owner, wisely excoriates the presence of assault weapons in Denver Colorado.   Listen to Jake Pucci and try to determine why he rushed in when few others would do so. There are good people in Denver, Colorado, but we cannot tolerate these kinds of crimes. Young Mr. Pucci, himself a gun owner, wisely excoriates the presence of assault weapons in Denver Colorado.   Find out from Jake Pucci what it's like to be a witness in a big Denver murder trial. Michael Close's guilt has been obvious from day one, but the prosecution still had to prove it. That happened in rapid time in Denver District Courtroom 5E, a trial attended by Craig Silverman, as counsel for Darian Simon. https://www.9news.com/article/news/local/ballpark-shooting-survivor-darian-simon/73-c06b9830-54f5-4aef-95c4-66822c185c46   This murder case contained drama aplenty but not insofar as the guilt of shooter who had no defense for his indefensible violence striking down an amazing Colorado couple. Darian Simon is special, as you'll hear from Jake Pucci who has fortunately gotten to know the man he saved.   Dan Politica was not a hero here. It was his AK-47 used to kill Bella and grievously wound Darian. Defendant was a tight friend with DPD Sgt. Dan Politica at the time of this crime. Hear the sworn deposition testimony of Politica explaining how the AK-47 was stolen. And evaluate.   Homeowners insurance for Politica's Arvada home paid for the negligently stored stored weapon allegedly "stolen" by the shooter. Guilty verdicts and insurance funds collected bring no justice. Bella is gone. Darian has been damaged. So has Denver, Colorado. We cant' stand this.   The late broadcaster Alan Berg was murdered by an assault weapon welded by bigoted man who decided to kill a prominent Jew on June 18, 1984. On October 8, 2022, the late Alan Berg will be installed in the Denver Press Club Hall of Fame. This show has covered the death of Alan Berg and who was his friend. Hear Eps. 70, 77, and 101 featuring Judith Berg.   Alby Segall, Executive Director of the Denver Press Club, is a fascinating guest as he describes his background and the current situation at his historic workspace. The criteria for Hall of Fame induction are reviewed. Memories of listening to Alan Berg are shared and the ripples it sent through the Jewish world because of this anti-Semitic hate crime.   Dave Gunders makes his solid contribution with Falling Rain, the perfect song to accompany the sadness that was the murder of Isabella Thallas. Rain refreshes though and Rosh Hashanah is right around the corner. Enjoy this solemn reflective High Holiday treat from our Troubadour.

Schrier momentum in the 8th District?, GUEST: Yakima ER doctor, Raul Garcia M.D., talks about Biden's comment "the pandemic is over", talks about nurse and doctor "burn out", Garcia explains why so many WA hospitals are packed with patients and also short on nurses/doctors, Garcia says it all comes back to travel pay, says keeping people in fear about COVID will protect political power, Hour 3 -- King Co. Executive finally responds to independent reporter Jonathan Choe's question(s) about the quietly proposed SoDo homeless complex, Dow Constantine's first public words about the proposed homeless shelter that has stirred opposition from CID neighbors, red flags for a "basic income" trial approved for homeless women/transgender/non-binary living in Denver CO shelters, CNN's Don Lemon doesn't get the response he expected from his guest after a question about slavery reparations, the reparations question dovetails with the #1 movie right now "Woman King" about a regiment of 19th century African (Dahomey) female warriors, the historical context of slavery and what we know as cancel culture.

Beth is a plus-sized hiker whose relationship with her body and her hometown were transformed forever when she went for her first hike. We'll hear how Beth didn't always feel included in Denver's vibrant outdoor scene, but how claiming time on the trail for herself helped her tap into the community and motivated her to want to share the benefits of nature with more people.Using the Denver Sheraton Downtown as basecamp, Beth shared her recommendations for best day hikes along with other outdoor adventures to consider like kayaking the rapids at Confluence Park or cycling the Cherry Creek Regional Trail, but at over 8,000 feet elevation and with views of 14,000 foot Mount Evans, Genesee Park was the perfect place to spend a breezy afternoon.Since Beth was born and raised in Denver, she gave Oneika lots of insider insights about her city, including why it's worth standing in line at Little Man Ice Cream for a post-hike treat and why any food slathered with green chiles is quintessentially Colorado.

Adventures that revolve around fishing and quests to attempt surfing.  Oman, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua, to name a few.  Throughout my years of knowing Hal, I knew what his job title was but didn't necessarily comprehend what he did for work.  It wasn't until I had the opportunity to work directly with Hal and additionally experience some of his work in the community that my understanding of the gravity and stewardship of his work struck me.  I have a tremendous amount of respect for the work that Hal does and his fortitude, that seems to go hand in hand,  it can not be easy.  Hal has an amazing ability to see the forest through the trees.  Hal currently resides in Wilson, WY with his wonderful family, his wife Robin, daughters Lucy & Elliot and son Fin.  Without further adieu please welcome my good friend Hal to the show.Be sure to subscribe to this show on iTunes, Spotify, and your favorite podcast hosting platform. This was the beginning of a relationship with the song that would define a lot of what they were going through in 1994 and 1995. We'll discuss it's origin and inspiration for writing it. We'll also cover the live debut of Street Fighting Man, a W.M.A. tag off of Porch, a Rats tag off of Daughter, and not one, but TWO band members losing their pants! The Everyday Sniper Podcast: The Wicked Rabbit  9 O Clock at Night, Denver Colorado, Marc and Frank do a podcast because we love you guys.  Coming back from Iowa after a Class at Sure Shot Range.  John has a great country range in the middle of a beautiful Iowa field with a great target package.   The current conversation sorta speaks for itself; we are dropping gold nuggets with every sentence in this episode. It even surprised me how many knowledge bombs we are dropping.  Dresden faired better when you consider this episode.   Head over to Sniper's Hide, and let me know what you think. I think you'll want to talk about this episode as we pushed buttons.  Thanks for listening, thanks for sharing, and thanks for being a part of the Everyday Sniper Podcast.

Saints All-Pro DE Cameron Jordan tells Rich why he has ZERO issues with the low block that injured New York Giants edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux and why he would be firmly opposed to any rules outlawing such tactics, how it's different having a defensive-minded head coach in Dennis Allen after the departure of Sean Payton, explains how New Orleans has been able to hold Tom Brady in-check over the past two regular seasons, and reveals what TB12 and former NFL QB Jay Cutler have in common. Rich reveals his Top 5 Most Fascinating Teams heading into the 2022 season among the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams, Josh Allen's Buffalo Bills, Tua Tagovailoa's Miami Dolphins, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs, and Russell Wilson's Denver Broncos, which leads to a debate about what are realistic expectations in the Mile High City this season.( Learn more about your ad choices.
