Samara and Philip review and discuss the found-footage horror film from directorial sibling duo Cameron and Colin Cairnes, 'Late Night with the Devil.' This re-creation of a 1970s late night talk show, the fictional "Night Owls" with Jack Delroy, depicts one night of the show gone horribly wrong, as the broadcast becomes infiltrated by an evil force. Desperate to rise to the top of the ratings, Delroy pulls out all the stops for his 1977 Halloween special, bringing on a colorful panel of guests culminating with a psychologist and her patient. Each round of guests successively leads the show down the road toward a hellish outcome, providing a spectacle that confirms the old adage for Delroy: Careful what you wish for. Synopsis On a live broadcast during Halloween on sweeps week in 1977, a failing late night talk show starring Jack Delroy (played by David Dastmalchian) interviews a cult survivor supposedly possessed by a demon. The audience is amazed and horrified by the demonstration and Delroy soon finds himself out of his depth. But instead of heeding caution, he doubles down on the bit to save his show from cancellation to disastrous consequence. Review of Late Night with the Devil This movie has a great premise. What if you showed Regan from The Exorcist on a talkshow next to obvious fake psychics and debunkers that often appeared on late night. The talk show is a format that everyone is familiar with, and even the guests previous to the possessed little girl should all be recognizable stand ins for real life talk show guests such as Uri Gellar and James Randi. The biggest setback is that the writing and acting a little too on-the-nose, and it ends up feeling a little cringe. In what could be a super compelling and real-feeling found footage film, the artificiality really pulls you out of the moment and you definitely feel like you are watching a movie. It's like when you see a movie or show about a stand up comedian, and the actor isn't able to be convincingly funny but is met with uproarious laughter from the fake audience. It's a type of uncanny valley that is created when actors aren't able to match the charisma and timing of a seasoned professional, in this case, talk show host. They made the genius move to explain that this is a failing talk show, so Jack Delroy's wooden presence and indiscernible personality actually sells the “why”. That being said, this movie does have some good bones. The plot structure and utilization of the talk show format is great. It lends a new backdrop to the horror cliche of demonic possession. The tension ramps up convincingly, and the inevitable trainwreck that is foreshadowed is satisfying. I just wish they would have aimed for more realism in the writing and acting. Score 6/10

If you made a mashup of Shat The Movies films, "The Blood of Heroes" might be the result. It has a dose of "Mad Max," a pinch of "Blade Runner," two tablespoons of "Robot Jox" and just a hint of "The Sandlot." Definitely an acquired taste. Rutger Hauer returns to a dark, wet dystopia in this 1989 sci-fi cult classic that spawned the real-life game of Jugger and reminded Dick Ebert of all the niche sports he discovered in the early days of the pandemic. "The Blood of Heroes" piqued the Shat Crew's curiosity in a way few movies have, leading to questions about post-apocalyptic aristocracy, water conservation, armor design, measuring time in stones, nerd dream girls and the logistic of carrying large furniture as luggage. Tracy McMillan's dad spent most of her life in prison, getting out for the last time when she was in her 40s. But for all the movies and shows about prison, she hadn't seen her experience portrayed on screen in a way that resonated with her. So, as a successful television writer and author, she decided to write it herself — for her and the millions of others who grew up with a parent behind bars. After years of work, Tracy's story became Hulu's new hit show UnPrisoned. It's a funny and heartfelt take on what happens when a father who has spent decades in prison, played by Delroy Lindo, comes to live with his adult daughter, played by Kerry Washington. This week, Trymaine sits down with Tracy and Delroy, for an eye-opening conversation about their experiences from childhood, their relationship with their fathers, and the healing power of art.Follow and share the show on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, using the handle @intoamericapod.Thoughts? Delroy Lindo is a veteran actor and writer. Born in London to Jamaican parents, Delroy spent his childhood moving from place to place. As a teenager, he moved with his family to Toronto and then San Francisco, where he began studying acting at the American Conservatory Theater. He spent the next decade alternating between movie roles and Broadway stages. His versatility in Crooklyn, Get Shorty, The Cider House Rules, and more only increased his demand. Currently, Delroy is starring in the new Hulu series Unprisoned. It's about a father who reconnects with his adult daughter after serving a 17-year prison sentence. He plays Edwin, whose life changes when he moves in with his therapist daughter Paige, played by Kerry Washington. Delroy has been a public figure for a long time, and for most of that time, he didn't really talk about himself. Now? He's writing a memoir. On this episode of Bullseye, we asked him what changed.

He famously co-created the term dark triad, describing everyday villains: psychopaths, narcissists, and Machiavellians. He and his collaborators have recently added a fourth factor: sadism. In this episode, Eric and Delroy chat about how these dark personalities manifest in everyday life. How are they similar, and how are they different? How does Delroy study something like sadism in the lab? Where in society do these dark individuals flourish, and do they ever benefit society? Are they more intelligent? Do we have more psychopaths and narcissists among us now than in the past? Finally, Delroy shares if he is still able to see the good in people after studying dark personalities for so long.WE NOW HAVE A SUBSTACK! With episodes nearing 300 in the STAGES archive, it's time to revisit conversations featured in our previous seasons. STAGES spotlights such episodes, in case you missed them the first time ‘round - or so you can simply savour, a second listen. Either way, you'll accessing precious oral histories from the people who were there, on and around our stages. For 26 years Tony Delroy was at the helm of a nightly, nationally broadcast, late show called Nightlife on the ABC. He fronted the show with barely a sick day offering his listeners an informative entertainment into the early hours of the morning. Delroy's enormous breadth of interest and knowledge helped to garner his success, along with a passionate understanding of his audience. Nightlife featured a team of experts every week - motoring, literature, movies, American politics, finance, superannuation and travel. He presented engaging variety that supported the delivery of current affairs and the news. Tony has now stepped down from this night owl existence and has embraced retirement; and his doona! He joined STAGES in July 2019 and we now shine a spotlight, on the career and craft of Mr Tony Delroy. dattrax: HIYA Fellow House Fiends!! Welcome new and our regular visitors from around the globe!! Thank you for taking the time to scan through some of our mixes to see if you'd like to listen to a full mix. We appreciate you visiting us here. Started this mix near the end of March. This is my 11th attempt at this final version. I hope that you enjoy this mix because it was made with much love. All the happy and negative energies that were pent up got released into the making of this mix. I start or bounce to a few different mix projects once I'm stuck, not feeling it, or need a break. So many mixes that I want to make, but not enough time. For the first three versions of this mix, I just chose the 1st two tracks of this new mix and started mixing out of the batch of 150-200 tracks [organized within 18 folders. See here: https://prnt.sc/e_YYxUmRCfas ] that were possible for this mix. The first two tracks always set the mood and expectation of a mix. Then the folders divide the tracks out into categories of tempo and types of energy expressed. There are always enough tracks in each of the 18 folders to give me enough choices/possibilities for each combination. Not enough to overwhelm, because having too many choices doesn't make for a good mix either. I have in the folders the core two dozen tracks that make up the underlying feel or goal for any specific mix. Then after each mix attempt is completed - just listen and see if I like the feel and if I train wrecked any mixes or killed the vibe with a wrong track combination choice. If I don't like it, then delete it. Back to the drawing board for the next mix attempt. Then liked parts of each of the first three versions, so cobbled together, made some arrangement changes, and listened some more to a few more mix attempts. Keep trimming and changing the tracks, the orders, and a bunch to different spots to create the right feel. Then I fell into a trap of being too structured. LMAO!! This is the most planned-out mix that I've ever made. Then you add the fact that 90% of the mix are the new re-rubs that I've made over the last few months, there's another entire layer of dattrax choices that changes the feel/vibe/groove of the mix. There was one slight mistake, but I couldn't do the 12th attempt. LMAO. Sorry. ["Re-Rub" - don't know if there's an actual definition or name, but here's mine. I take a vocal track that I love that's old, or not in good quality to stand alone, or in a version that I have that don't really love. Then I go through a bunch of instrumentals or dubby tracks (tracks with vocal snippets) to find one that works well with it. Then I sync the speeds and mix the two and EQ out the instruments and EQ in the vocal and other parts that I like. Record them together and use them as separate tracks. Then let the new or recent house instrumental be the base for this vocal's Re-Rub. Then I use these Re-Rubs in new mixes or live DJ events. Just quick and dirty refreshes of favourite vocals to make them sound more modern and gives you the reminder of how great the original vocals are. Or you can say, the poor man's version of a bootleg for someone with ZERO producing talent, dedication, or equipment. Ha ha ha ha. Although, one Re-Rub can take as fast as 20mins to make or an hour, depending on the constraints of the chosen combination.] This mix has the majority of the house vocals in classic house vocals ('classic house' to me is from 1980-2008) and 80's pop tunes + maybe a dozen recent tracks. 49 Tracks in 2hrs and 34mins!! --------------- [If you're reading this on mobile, then everything is jumbled up. The writer's intended spacing to make these show notes readable is nonexistent. You'll have to open this up on your laptop/desktop to be able to read this correctly. Podomatic hasn't come up with a solution that has been implemented yet to fix this challenge]. --------------- Reach out to us and comment if you like or love our mixes. Just Google 'dattrax' and find all places online that we've been a part of. Please share with your family, friends, co-workers, and acquaintances who could use a dose of musical candy. Directed by Andrew Moir and produced by Michelle Serieux, DON'T COME SEARCHING tells the story of Delroy Dunkley, a committed Jamaican family man who works half the year in Canada as a migrant worker. Excited to ask his partner Sophia Malahoo-Dunkley to marry him upon his return home, Delroy's situation takes a dramatic turn when he's diagnosed with terminal cancer. Sending shockwaves through his family and calling Sophia to take on the role of caregiver for her ailing love and children. In this 1on1, we speak to Moir, Serieux, and Malahoo-Dunkley about the immense challenges of migrant workers and the strength of being a caregiver.
My good friend Dr. Delroy Brooks is the special guest on this episode of TFarrell Present. I really think you will find this episode interesting as we look at ways the local church could do things differently to spark more growth and excitement. We end with a Words 4 Life track featuring Pastor Greg Nelson entitled "In The House". Unfortunately we had technical difficulties and the video didn't come out right so we inserted a screen shot of the flier for the video version.

He is suspected of over 100 offences from 1990 to 2009. In 1998, the Metropolitan Police launched the dedicated Operation Minstead team to investigate the crimes, based at Lewisham police station. (The name does not directly refer to the village of Minstead, Hampshire; rather it was chosen from an alphabetical list of English villages, the method of operational naming in use at the time). As of 2009, the operation was the largest and most complex rape investigation ever undertaken by the Metropolitan Police. On 24 March 2011, Grant was found guilty on all counts. The following day he was given four life sentences and ordered to serve a minimum of 27 years in prison. Operation Minstead is dramatized over the 2020 second season of the British TV show Manhunt.

In today's episode I speak to Delroy who shares with us his journey through drug addiction, the 12 step program and prison to find peace and breathwork on the other side. He is truly inspirational showing what self exploration and being open can truly do for you. I was thrilled to meet him at a recent festival where I heard him speak and knew that I had to bring his message to the listeners of this podcast. About Delroy:I came from a loving but dysfunctional family. I used drink and drugs to cover up feelings of emotional pain then there was the added bonus I loved the way they made me feel. I ended up in prison aged 19 then my world started to get smaller. I ended up homeless for many years getting arrested another 54 times which ended in 16 prison sentences. On my last sentence, 8 years in the drugs stopped numbing my emotional pain and I hated the way they made me feel. I got some help and then started to help myself.I ended up "Finding Peace in Prison".I only needed to change one thing and that was everything about myself!Contact Delroy at abundance270672@gmail.com About Natasha:Natasha de Grunwald is a subconscious transformation coach, a mentor, a teacher, trainer, breathwork facilitator and a Mum to a 19 year old daughter. Passing the controller, sharing a save, or simply watching along? When I was younger, my “not a gamer” sister and I would play through RPGs like Suikoden II and Lunar together, her reading the text aloud and me playing. It was an amazing bonding experience and one I still recall fondly. RPGs are one of the e few genres that allow this type of engagement that can be incredibly rewarding for people who don't traditionally enjoy games or are not actively playing. The_WinterGamer - I just upgraded to a Series S, what RPG would you suggest one should try through gamepass that would def use the benefit of being on a faster console Gilgamesh - I was introduced to The Witcher through the Leshen crossover event with Monster Hunter World, and it is without question my favorite fight in that game. The music just fit so well, and the fight was fantastic. General RPG Question: Since I missed the Monster Hunter episode, I don't know if this should go in a Witcher/Crossover/Boss Fights video, but what unique boss fight from any RPG, or non RPG franchise would you like to see cross over to any other RPG franchise? Bonus points if they have their own music that just fits. My pick would be the Secret of Mana: Dark Lich boss crossed into Dark Souls 3. Spike Lee's "Da 5 Bloods" was released earlier this summer on Netflix to acclaim from critics and then shortly afterward, it only grew in public consciousness due to the lasting power of the film's story, the summer's Black Lives Matter movement and the tragic death of one of the film's stars, Chadwick Boseman. Delroy Lindo, the film's lead, has had a career that has lasted for nearly fifty years and he received the highest reviews of his career for his tormented portrayal of the Donald Trump supporting, PTSD suffering, Vietnam war veteran, Paul. Delroy was kind enough to take a few moments to talk about the recognition he has received so far for the film, his experience reuniting with director Spike Lee, working with Chadwick Boseman in a scene that has taken on new meaning since the actor's untimely death and more!
