I met Josh and Angie Grenz in the early months of their opening their first Verboten location in a quiet industrial park in Loveland, and Angie actually came to the very first organizational meeting for the first LoCo Think Tank chapter - before I had come up with the name! She didn't join, and hasn't yet - but I remain hopeful. We've stayed in touch over the years, and reconnected more properly last year when they opened their second location in what had been Black Bottle Brewery in Fort Collins - which closed the fall before. Verboten means forbidden in German, and their selection of beers mostly has one thing in common - they use ingredients that would have been forbidden under historic German purity laws - which basically means you can have lager and you will love it! Sours and Porters and Wine-Barrel aged Stouts and you name it - they've done it - and probably won a prestigious medal for it! Josh and Angie eventually moved to a great downtown location in Loveland, and the Verboten North is at the corner of Prospect and College in Fort Collins. This is a journey of starting small, focusing on the product and the people, and growing into a regional brand. In an industry that has experienced decline in recent years, Verboten continues to grow - and it's due to hard work and smart decisions by Josh and Angie and their dedicated teams. So please enjoy, as I did - my conversation with Josh and Angie Grenz. The LoCo Experience Podcast is sponsored by: Purpose Driven Wealth Thrivent: Learn more

In mid-November 2024, Sean "Diddy" Combs' sons, Christian Combs and Quincy Brown, issued a cease-and-desist letter to Courtney Burgess regarding his book, "Kim Porter Tell It All," which he published under the pseudonym Jamal Millwood. The brothers asserted that, as the rightful heirs to their late mother Kim Porter's intellectual property, any purported diary entries or personal writings belong to them. They demanded that Burgess cease the book's sale, halt interviews promoting it, and surrender any of Porter's possessions he claimed to have.In response, Burgess dismissed the cease-and-desist letter as a "desperate ploy" orchestrated by Diddy, labeling it a "pathetic attempt" reflecting the family's dire financial situation. His attorney, Ariel Mitchell, maintained that Burgess obtained the manuscript through a mutual acquaintance and that Porter had promised to share her memoir with him during a phone call. This exchange has intensified the legal dispute over the rights to Porter's personal writings and the legitimacy of Burgess's claims.(commercial at 7:14)to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Diddy witness Courtney Burgess fires back at his sons amid legal battle over rights to Kim Porter's alleged diary | Daily Mail Online

As you may have seen on our socials recently, we just hosted our first live event with friends of the pod from the That's Devolved! team, and great Cardiff venue, Porters. Our guest is one of the few Members of the Senedd with high name recognition, with all the good and bad that comes with that - Lee Waters, Member for Llanelli. Widely considered one of the most intellectually curious and independently minded of the Labour group, he will be forever be linked with the events of the last year which saw him usher in one of the most contested pieces of Welsh Law in the shape of the 20mph default speed limit across the country. His public comments on the controversies surrounding Vaughan Gething's time as Labour leader also put Lee at odds with many inside the party and precipitated a government revolt forcing the then-FM to stand down. However, as you will hear in this interview chaired by our own Matthew Hexter, Lee has plenty of valuable insight to both the inner workings and outer dysfunctions of our parliament and government machines, and the surrounding political cultures. Standard-strength Porter and Stout styles such as American Porter, English Porter, Oatmeal Stout, Milk Stout, Irish Stout, and some American Stouts feature roasty flavors and aromas from the presence of roasted malts. These grains are roasted similar to how coffee beans and cacao beans get roasted, and take on many of the same flavor notes—coffee and chocolate are two common flavor descriptors for these beer styles.Beers in these styles tend to cast a wide net when paired with chocolate and can work solidly with a wide range of chocolates, making them good to have on hand for impromptu pairings. Send us a Text Message.I am honoured to be joined on today's episode with my great friend Barnabas, who lead me to the top of Mt Kilimanjaro in Africa, with his team of Porters. The Mount Kilimanjaro porters are a dedicated team of men and women whose job it is to help tourists carry their gear while hiking Kilimanjaro. Most of the porters are local men between the ages of 18 and 40. They are hired alongside a team of trained professionals.he porter's main job is to carry all the equipment required for the whole team. This includes not only personal equipment for each guest, but also tents, sleeping bags, food, oxygen bottles, medical kits, stretchers, hyperbaric chambers, toilets, and any garbage that's generated along the way.Once they reach camp, it's time to set up. This includes putting up the portable toilet, your tents, and sometimes also the sleeping bags and inflatable pads. The porters are also responsible for sanitizing all the water that's used for cooking, cleaning, and drinking. They also help the cook prepare and serve the food, and clean the dishes afterward. As you get higher and higher up the mountain, the porters will cheer you on and just generally have your back – giving you positive encouragement along the way. Altitude takes a crazy toll on our bodies, and you may find yourself relying on one or more of the porters to do everything you're not able to do – from tying a shoelace to quickly repairing a boot. Essentially, the porters make it possible for you to climb Kilimanjaro.I climbed Kilimanjaro with Barnabas and his team. Stouts and porters, dark malty beers maybe used to have a reputation of being a bit stuffy but there has been a recent trend of these drinks growing in popularity.Guinness, the biggest player in the market, has seen a big increase in sales, for a period being the bests selling pint in pubs for the first time. There's been a big interest in it from young people, there is a whole genre of social media influencers comparing pints and even Kim Kardashian was photographed with one in London last St Patricks day. In this programme, Jimi Famurewa looks at how a drink that is so ubiquitous and established becomes a cool. Jimi goes to the wildly popular Devonshire Arms to meet Oisin Rogers and drink the arguably best pint of Guinness in London. The story of dark beer starts with porter in London and Jimi talks to beer writer Laura Hadland about the history of porter and stouts between the UK and Irish capitals.Adding nitrogen to stout and porter is a huge part of Guinness's success. Jimi visits Anspach and Hobday, brewers who are taking on Guinness with their own nitro porter, London Black.Jimi also look at the history of stout and porter in West Africa with Eko brewery who are taking inspiration from the continent including the Guinness brewed in Nigeria.Social media is a huge part of the interest in Guinness. Jimi sits down with a pint to talk to Ian Ryan who runs the shitlondonguinness Instagram page and has written a book One Man's Search for the Perfect Pint of Guinness, who is credited in having a big part in this trend.Produced in Bristol by Sam Grist
Fr. John Lankeit, parochial vicar at Holy Cross in Mesa and chaplain to the Porters of St. Joseph, gives us an update on his life and ministry. He's leading a Rosary at a downtown event in honor of St. Joseph on March 16.
The train station is an interesting place to be an observer. There is so much to see! Business commuters with their noses buried in newspapers check their watches impatiently, hoping that the train will be on time. Mothers and young children, giddy with excitement about their first train ride. Porters moving baggage and conductors directing people to the right platform. On the southbound track, a sleek passenger train idles while travelers board. Soon, it will pull out of the station, gliding on two steel ribbons toward the next stop. The cycle will repeat itself day and night, as predictable as the sunrise, continuing as long as people have places to go. ---
