In this episode, we continue to utilize the American Academy of Pediatrics to educate ourselves on pool safety. Swimming pool drownings occur at an overwhelmingly high rate among infants and toddlers. Protecting and preventing drownings takes multiple layers of protection and means maintaining a vigilant eye at all times. I also share a story of a recent patient I cared for in the ICU after drowning. It has affected me greatly and though it is not the change his parents thought he would make in this world, his story may be one that saves many lives.
