If you could talk to someone from the future—a future where we succeeded in creating a regenerative world—wouldn’t you want to know what we did to get there? In this episode I talk to Elizabeth Russell the creator of the Dreamfruit Almanac. An intuitive planning tool that centers around Thirteen “Dreams” from a future past detailing step by step instructions for how we build that world. As Elizabeth writes “The opportunity within Dreamfruit is to let the wisdom of the imaginal realm become a practical tool of transformation.” In our interview, we look at the “Dreams” that Elizabeth downloaded for 2020 and see how they measured up to the events we just lived through. It’s kinda my nod to the ‘year in review’ podcasts and news stories you see everywhere, but with a feminist and magical twist. We also talk about the importance of deep imagination in navigating these difficult and often confusing times, and take a sneak peek at the ‘Dreams’ Elizabeth has received for 2021. More about Dream Fruit Dream fruit focuses on the themes of Natural time, Animism and Natural Allies and revolves around the 13 Dreams discussed above. “Each of the thirteen “Dreams from the Future” animates the themes of the time and gives the psyche a narrative of transformation. These dreams are written in past tense. They can be read as missives from a future being or from the collective dream to help you conceive a path forward through the particular terrain of the time.” You can find Elizabeth, and order your copy on her webiste: https://elizabethrussell.space Or connect with her on Instagram: @dreamfruit.maven To find out more about you host, Allison Carr you can connect with her here: https://allisoncarr.net Sign up for the Resilience Course here: https://resiliencecrashcourse.teachery.co/the-resilience-course
In this episode we discuss the zine I wrote last year describing my experience of leaving a Mystery School in Portland, and my journey to unpack the manipulative and damaging experience I had there. It asks questions about whether the school is a cult and explores the kind of support that was helpful for me when coming forward, and the things that were very unhelpful. We also discuss the new name and revised mission of this podcast. I recently sat down with Erin-Ashley Kerti to talk about what it takes to go pro at being a psychic. She related to me the story of how she came to her gifts reluctantly, having grown up in a very skeptical and scientific family. An undeniable experience led her to start exploring the visions she had been having. We discussed whether everyone has psychic gifts (spoiler: they do), and her recommendations for budding psychics who want to hone their skills. The approach Erin-Ashley takes will surprise you, her advice: have fun! Erin-Ashley gave me the low down on the typical time frame it takes to develop your gifts enough to start charging for them, and why it is good for the world if more people start owning their gifts. She also gave me her energy forecast for the next 5 years, and emphasized the importance of developing coping strategies so that you can still get clear messages during tumultuous times. We ended our interview with a brief discussion of ethics. In this episode I talk to Stephanie Syd Yang all about bird spirit medicine, receiving messages from spirit, healing from an eating disorder and embodied queer magic. Syd is a mixed race/Taiwanese American queer healer, intuitive artist and writer who weaves together magic, possibility and intention as an energy healer + intuitive counselor in the world through their practice, Blue Jaguar Healing Arts. As someone who lives with depression and anxiety, and has recovered from severe eating disorders, Syd's work finds its resonance in the stories we each hold at the intersection of memory, body, sexuality and mental health. As a healer, Syd weaves together shamanic and earth-based practices that are grounded in Buddhist principles of interdependence, impermanence and karma. Syd has been working with individuals and small groups for close to 20 years to support liberation and healing in life-affirming ways, rooting deep into their cultural, ancestral and indigenous practices. Syd works with individuals as well as regularly leads workshops, community healing circles and has been a group facilitator for over two decades, with a specific focus on grief, healing ancestral trauma, sexuality + spirituality, body liberation and eating disorder recovery. Their most recent book, a memoir, "Release" -- the fantastic and entirely true story of finding freedom in a queer, mad + mixed race body", will be available at the end of 2018. In this special episode of the Sacred Wheel Podcast, I present a workshop I gave last summer all about Energy Work. In this episode we discuss energy clearing, and why the only tool you need for clearing is your own body. We also go into the theory behind Five Element Acupuncture, a style of acupuncture I have been practicing for years. We talk about each element, (Wood, Water, Earth, Fire and Metal) and what the common characteristics for each is. We discuss how illness can arise out of events from your childhood, and how identifying your own elemental stumbling blocks can be the key to wellness. In the end of the episode I share some exciting discoveries I've made about combining Energy Clearing with the theory of Five Element Acupuncture to allow me to do distance healing sessions on my former patients.
