We've been circling this week all year, and now it's here: the solar eclipse in Leo, Wednesday, midday, no take-backs. Eclipses are the astrology of "everything was fine and then suddenly it wasn't fine, it was different." They don't ask for your input. They just rearrange the furniture while you're still sitting on it. And this one is doing its rearranging with the south node, which is the part of the sky that deals in the old familiar stuff we cling to because it's known, not because it's good. The outdated ideas about who we are, what we're capable of, what we're allowed to want. The comfort zone that stopped being comfortable a while ago but we kept the lease anyway. That's what's up for release this week, and because it's Leo, it's personal. It's about you, your confidence, your visibility, the version of yourself you've been performing out of habit. The good news, and there is a lot of it, is that Jupiter is sitting right there in Leo making everything bigger, more hopeful, and weirdly more survivable. The New Moon on August 12 is a total solar eclipse. In areas of totality, including parts of Iceland and Spain, the Sun will be eclipsed as it sets, creating a striking spectacle. Traditionally, we are advised not to watch eclipses but to turn inward. I believe we can do both. Observing the outer world while remaining aware of the one who is observing can be deeply illuminating. This is an essential lesson of the lunar nodes: witness what is happening without becoming consumed by it.Insights are more likely when the Sun, Moon, Earth and lunar nodes align. Ketu and the eclipsed Sun occupy different divisions of the sidereal zodiac, bringing both Cancer and Leo into focus. Eclipses reveal and conceal, so bear in mind that the full picture may not be immediately apparent.We would usually look to Jupiter for guidance, but Jupiter is also involved in this eclipse, as it is hidden by an eclipsed Sun. Although it emerges from combustion by the end of the month, whatever insights arise, keep them close to your chest until matters become clearer. At the same time, this eclipse is asking you to let go of something you may have a hard time letting go of. The eclipse occurs in Āśleṣā, a complex lunar mansion at the end of Cancer. Symbolised by a coiled serpent and ruled by the serpent deities, the Sarpas, it represents attachment, instinct, and entanglement. It may also reflect kuṇḍalinī śakti—the coiled energy at the base of the spine—and the spiral of DNA, connecting it with healing.This eclipse represents a shedding of skin, a deep process of emotionally letting go. With Ketu's help, we are asked to loosen our attachments and transform basic survival instincts into something more conscious and evolved.

The Sun is on the Sabian symbol 5 Leo, Rock formations at the edge of a precipice. Neptune is at 5 Aries, A triangle with wings, and Uranus is at 5 Gemini, A radical magazine. Embrace Leo's confident energy; break routine and lift off. [4:15] Venus squares Mars (July 29, 12:10 am PDT) at 21°14' Virgo-Gemini. Venus is on the Sabian symbol 22 Virgo, A royal coat of arms, and Mars is at 22 Gemini, A barn dance. [6:06] Moon Report! The Sun conjuncts Jupiter (July 29, 5:18 am PDT) at 06°24' Leo, then a couple of hours later the Aquarius Full Moon (7:36 am PDT) is at 06°30' Aquarius-Leo. This Full Moon looks back not only at the recent Cancer New Moon (July 14, 2026, at 21°59' Cancer), but back to the New Moon in Aquarius (Feb. 17, 2026), which was a solar eclipse. Reflect on what looks different now than it did in February. [9:42] Lunar Phase Family Cycle (LPFC). This is the Full Moon (awareness point) in an LPFC that started on Jan. 29, 2025 at 9°51' Aquarius on Sabian symbol 10 Aquarius, A popularity that proves ephemeral. The First Quarter (first action point) of this LPFC was on Oct. 29, 2025 at 6°30' Aquarius. The Last Quarter phase (final action point) is on Apr. 28, 2027.
