In this episode, Dr. Evan M. Rabinowitz, the founder of the Yao Shan Center for Chinese Medicine in Washington, DC, joins us for a conversation about acupuncture for menopause symptom treatment relief, the importance of treatment for the individual, how the body is an ecosystem and how holistic & Eastern medicine focus on addressing and balancing the entire system rather than just a single problematic issue.Acupuncture as a medical practice has existed for thousands of years and it used to be the predominant healing practice, yet the Western world still sees it as “alternative medicine.” Eastern medical practice is more than just sticking needles and mixing herbs together. Underneath lies a worldview that all living things are connected and that everything has its own course and cycle. This perspective brings a holistic approach to health and medicine, recognizing that changes in one part of the body or the external environment can cause seemingly unrelated symptoms. Dr. Rabinowitz has been in clinical practice for over 25 years, is a professor at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts in Asheville, NC and a lecturer at Georgetown University School of Medicine's Integrative Medicine Program in Washington, DC. He's the former Director of Chinese Herbal Medicine at the Maryland University of Integrative Health (MUIH), where he helped create the University's Masters and Doctorate programs in East Asian Medicine during his eight-year tenure. He also taught and supervised Chinese herbal medicine at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in Gainesville, FL. He is a graduate of the George Washington University (B.A.), Traditional Acupuncture Institute (M.Ac.) and Maryland University of Integrative Health (D.Ac.). Dr. Rabinowitz maintains an active teaching schedule, offering continuing education for practitioners online and in-person across the US and internationally.Dr. Rabinowitz's goal is to see each person as unique and whole, and offer to them individualized, compassionate care for both chronic and acute pain. He has specialty training in gynecology seeing a broad range conditions throughout the lifecycle, including painful or irregular periods, fibroids and cysts (including PCOS), endometriosis and menopause related issues. In this episode, Dr. Rabinowitz discusses:The history and definition of acupunctureEastern medicine's approach to and treatment options for menopauseUnderstanding menopause from a holistic, empowering perspectiveFinding and receiving individualized treatment by a qualified, licensed practitionerDr. Rabinowitz also shares an empowering perspective for women: since puberty, our bodies have been working to sustain and bring new life. With menopause, our body's energies and systems shift to sustain and nourish just our own life. This is an important and significant time for a woman, and there's a unique power that comes with it.Tune in to this enlightening episode to gain a deeper understanding of acupuncture and how Eastern medicine offers a holistic, empowering approach to managing menopause and overall health.Connect with Dr. Evan M. Our guest today is Leta Herman, an Alchemical Healer, Chinese Medicine teacher, author and host of the Inspired Action Podcast. Leta has immersed herself in the philosophies of Daoism, Alchemical Healing, and Chinese Medicine for over twenty years. A long-time student of Master Jeffrey Yuen, an 88th generation Daoist priest, she is also a graduate of Eliot Cowan's Plant Spirit Medicine studies program. Additionally, Leta has studied extensively with teachers and former students of J.R. Worsley, who brought Five Element Acupuncture to England in the 1960s. In this episode we discuss the fascinating evolution of Chinese Medicine in today's world and how the practice emphasizes our elemental constitution. We learn about the distinctions between TCM, Classical, and Five Element approaches. Leta shares her own transformative journey from skepticism to deep healing, and how her battle with endometriosis led her to embrace Daoist philosophies. We explore innovative healing approaches like the non-needling needle technique in acupuncture and the use of the Ghost Points for mental health treatment. Leta emphasizes the need for practitioners to create a safe and non-judgmental space for healing, recognizing that illness can often be seen as a choice between potential or pathology. This perspective encourages a shift in how we view and approach healing, fostering a deeper understanding of the complex interplay between physical, emotional, and spiritual health. From clearing "chaotic energy" to the nine stages of alchemy for personal transformation, don't miss out on this rich discussion that seamlessly blends ancient wisdom with modern healing practices. As founder of the Alchemy Healing Center, a Chinese Medicine teaching clinic in the USA, Leta is dedicated to helping clients find their true potential through Alchemical transformation. She describes her practice as “very unique and diverse, focusing on ancient Chinese healing practices that are largely unknown today in the Western culture.” A Smith College graduate and past nationally syndicated journalist, Leta is a world explorer who speaks multiple languages, loves life and her family.letaherman.comalchemyhealingcenter.comLiked what you heard? www.keithcoley.com, www.angeliquemoselleart.comTruthStream links https://linktr.ee/truthstream When Angelique Moselle Robbins was 19 years old, she had a near death experience from a drug overdose. In this experience, she met the angelic realm who introduced themselves as “Geschichte”, which is a german word meaning history and story. Geschichte became an integral part of Angelique's life, leading her into a special sort of training. Over the next 13 years, Angelique, who was nicknamed Angel at birth, studied with the angels that saved her life via telepathy and apprenticed with a Doctor of Psychology who was also a Native American Shaman. During this time period, Angel learned how to deconstruct dysfunction by listening to the energy coming from people's 8 fields and create a pathway into function. This began a beautiful career in helping others understand how to heal their lives by helping them deeply understand themselves. In addition to this, Angel is a student of Master Ou Wen Wei, a world renowned Qigong Grandmaster and the creator of Pangu Shengong. She is a dedicated qigong practitioner constantly exploring the capabilities gained by increasing her personal energy field and sharing that energy with others. She is the creator of 8 Fields Qigong, 12 Senses Qigong, Energetic Alchemy and Healing Integration Therapy. All of these are powerful energetic practices which facilitate profound integration and correction of emotional, mental, physical and spiritual dysfunction. Keith Coley has been a Chinese Medical Intuitive for over 14 years and graduated with a Master's degree from The Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in 2004.He has seen many patients over his career and has come to know that the healing of the heart is the ultimate healing for all of us. Of course addressing humanity's aches and pains is important, but seldom is chronic pain the result from a strictly physical origin. Usually we will find a deep wound or series of wounds that have manifested as a physical set of symptoms or signs, such as headaches, depression, cancer, heart disease and a many others. So, practically speaking, what does that mean for you? It means he has the ability to help you find the deeper reason why you are ill and how to heal it.He has been tutored and continues to be tutored by the greatest healer he has ever known, Master Ou Wen Wei. Keith also feels honored to be mentored by Angel-Ghashikta who teaches him to deeply listen to the heart and follow the profound intelligence that is in all of us. They are also responsible for teaching him their highly effective Healing Integration Therapy (HIT), which makes up 80% of his healing protocol. He harnesses the power of Pangu Shengong (qigong), HIT, and 15 years of his own treatment experience to effectively move into dysfunctional patterns within his clients and create relief and balance. Tune into a bonus podcast episode exploring the profound connection between nature's transitions and the intricate dance of our own lives. In today's episode, our host, Gerad Kite, explores the depths of the autumn season and metal element. He delves into the emotions, transitions and inherent beauty that accompany the shift from summer to autumn. Gerad associates the seasonal transition with the metaphorical father (heaven), prompting deep introspection into the year's achievements, losses, and the intricate web of connections we forge. As the episode unfolds, emotions of grief, self-reflection, and self-assessment surface, painting a poignant portrait of the human experience in the face of change.
https://redlotuswellnesscenter.com/Kristin Althea O'Connor, M.Ac., L.Ac. is a woman with a kind heart who has always wanted to see people thrive. She loves nothing more than having the opportunity to provide a safe healing space for all ages and to assist on the journey towards helping each patient find her/his/their truest self. She adores being part of a team, creating a success story in place of what once felt like a bleak struggle. She's kind of a health cheerleader, this one.Kristin's practice has always focused on mental health, postpartum health, trauma, chronic conditions, and addiction. Is there anything more beautiful than to work with someone to pull them from the dark into their light and to see them shine in the way only they can? Kristin would say no. Because of this, people who want better for their lives and believe they will find it are the ones that are drawn to her treatment space. Kristin's favorite modalities to produce change are five element acupuncture, medical qigong (especially for distance healing treatments), and essential oils. In 2023 she completed her International Pediatric Specialist training because she yearned to share this medicine with children to create profound change from such a young age.Kristin utilizes the following tools in her treatments:Five Element AcupunctureMedical Qigong Essential OilsCuppingMoxibustionGua shaShonishinTui naChinese Stone MedicineAdditional Details on Kristin's Studies:FIVE ELEMENT ACUPUNCTUREIn her lifelong quest to help others shine, Kristin found a winning vehicle for this in Five Element Acupuncture and enrolled in the Master's program at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in Gainesville, FL. She chose this school for two big reasons: 1. Five Element Acupuncture gets to the root of dis-ease, and she wanted her patients to find deep, lasting healing. 2. This school flies in instructors from all over the world to share insight on their own private practices, so Kristin could learn from the best. She thrived there and served as class representative, graduating in 2010. During her time in school she learned cupping, moxibustion, and gua sha. This beautiful, powerful medicine is specialized and as such, Kristin is one of only two Five Element Acupuncturists in Western MA.PEDIATRIC ACUPUNCTURESeeing the profound effects of her practice and having children of her own spurred an interest in Pediatric Acupuncture. In 2023 Kristin completed the International Pediatrics Specialist training held by world-renowned practitioner Rebecca Avern. Kristin is thrilled to help children of ages address chronic conditions, trauma, and mental health struggles to live a better life. She learned shonishin and tui na during this time, and is thrilled to offer non-needle options to those nervous to start with needles. She has a special love for treating children with ASD. She is the only acupuncturist in her area focusing on children's mental health and trauma.MEDICAL QIGONG & DISTANCE HEALING TREATMENTSWhen Kristin started acupuncture school, she became deeply inspired by Medical Qigong, which is, in short, healing patients without needles. Kristin studied with Paul Fraser, L.Ac., who had learned the practice 20 years earlier to put his aggressive cancer diagnosis to a halt. She continued on, learning from Paul's teacher Tom Tam of Boston, and then from internationally-beloved Master Ou. The form she learned from Master Ou, Pan Gu Shen Gong, is a form focused on increasing the benevolence of the practitioner. It's Kristin's favorite form and the one she practices almost exclusively, and the form she...

“Wellness means to me that I feel great. I'm not hopeful that tomorrow will be better. I know that it will be better. I'm connected to my spirits and able to move around in my body as I expect myself to be.” — Pauline Kehoe Pauline Kehoe delved into the journey of wellness through her personal modality known as the five elements. In 2005, she had her Masters in Five Elements Acupuncture and from then on, she used her beautiful gift to communicate and bring the hidden language of five elements back to our modernized humanity. The five elements are the ancient spirit of Chinese medicine of mother nature which predates almost everything including acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and even Xi Gong which they consider as the first form of healing. For those who are unfamiliar with this, Pauline advises that the first step to discovering more about it is by being aware of the seasons, most especially our surroundings like the plants and trees around us because this is where dynamism is. Sometimes, we fail to realize that not only the five elements are outside us but it is definitely within us as well. In relation to that, this episode speaks more on how these five elements also have their way to correlate with the things within our bodies. As Pauline says, they are actually your organ system, emotions, mental state, or even your overall awareness. The way these elements can explain what is happening in our bodies, in our relationships, and even in our household environments is fascinating. All of this occurs as a result of connecting the invisible dots and recognizing how everything is interconnected with each other, and with that, it can shift everything. Wellness Nuggets: ● Water is the mother of the wood element ● The metal element is the closest to the heavens. It's about the connection to God, spirit, whatever you believe in. There's no religion around nature. ● Life doesn't change but it's our reaction to life that needs to change ● When you allow yourself to learn about yourself, it can be considered as a return of investment ● The lungs are the mother of the soul because the spirit is the mother of the soul and the lungs are connected to the heavens We invite you to ignite the Wellness Warrior in YOU! About the Guest: Pauline helps seekers living unfulfilled achieve awareness, clarity, and self-actualization by connecting to the inner wisdom and brilliance of the sage within to evolve, become what they seek, and shine light into the world for all. Pauline earned her Master in Five Element Acupuncture in 2005. Her mission is to bring the buried and hidden language of The Five Elements back to humanity. Although not by design, this conversation with renowned acupuncturist Peter Mole continues in a similar vein of five element acupuncture that was introduced in my last podcast with Dr. Peter Eckman. Peter Mole began his acupuncture training under the legendary J.R. Worsley at Leamington Spa in England in the late seventies and has been in clinical practice ever since. In the early nineties, Peter cofounded one of the world's most influential colleges of acupuncture, the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine in Reading, England. Nearly thirty years later, he is still the Dean of the college while also maintaining an impactful clinical practice. He is also author of Acupuncture for Body, Mind and Spirit and co-author of the major textbook Five Element Constitutional Acupuncture. Peter emphasizes human connection, potentially above all else, and we spend a great deal of time exploring what that looks and feels like to him and the role it plays in his clinic. We also talk about the value of intention in any treatment and how that can often be more influential than point selection or location. Peter is drawn to psychosomatic approaches to health, and we peel back the lid on the inner world of humans that manifests in outer illness. As practitioners, we might find we have to initially treat symptoms to get the results that gain patients' trust, and once trust is established, much deeper healing can be fostered through examining the inner milieu. This is a timely episode about human connection, non-judgmental empathy, and, above all else, love. Peter is an inspirational mentor and a kind-hearted individual who, through his craft of acupuncture, is awakening beauty in the world. I am someone who lives in the world of both/and. Meaning, I find deep value for the scientific research being done to explain the structure, functionality and physiology of our Bodies, BUT I believe we cannot take our finger off the pulse of the Spirit and Dao that courses through these temporary vessels we call our Bodies. Our bodies are the storytellers of our lives. But are we really listening? More and more of us are turning towards traditional cultural lineages of healing for guideposts of how to feel more at home in our bodies. Because we need both the microscope and the telescope to connect the dots on how to be safe, whole and embodied. I’ve invited Tracey Stevens to share her wisdom about these intangible narratives that run through our physical cells. Tracey is also someone who lives in the world of both/and.She has worked in the health industry for over 30 years. She started out in western medicine as an Occupational Therapist later trained in Five Element Acupuncture, Hypnotherapy, Past Life Regression Therapy and Compassionate Inquiry. Intrigued by the idea of the energetic body and how an age-old practice like acupuncture can move energy? But not so sure about the idea of having a bunch of needles stuck in you? Five-Element Acupuncture might just be for you! In this episode, we learn all about Five-Element Acupuncture from Melissa Farran, a board certified and licensed Acupuncturist. She walks us through this healing modality that is rooted in nature and natural law and is believed to be the most ancient practice of acupuncture. Melissa describes what to expect in a treatment session as well as talks through the actual needling process, which involves inserting and removing hair-thin needles in targeted acupuncture points. She also shares with us her advice on staying in rhythm with nature and the seasons to maximize your well-being. In the “You Want Me To Do What??” section, Shanna details out her experience with Five-Element Acupuncture. She compares it with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Acupuncture and concludes that, while she misses the nap she could take with TCM, she prefers Five-Element. Episode Recap: Interview with Melissa Farran - 2:31, “You Want Me To Do What??” section - 52:57 Highlights: Five-Element Acupuncture is believed to be the oldest form of acupuncture ever practiced Five-Element is based on the idea that humans are part of nature and that we experience changes with the seasons Whatever we notice in nature, we start noticing in people The five elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water In this system, practitioners are trained to hone their senses so they can use them to diagnose their patients Senses focus on color, sound, odor and emotion Training to become a Five-Element Acupuncturist is a four year Masters program that includes: 2 years of study/schooling 2 years of clinical, supervised practice In Five-Element Acupuncture: Practitioners diagnose and plan treatments by identifying imbalances as it relates to the five elements The focus is less on treating symptoms and more on identifying the root cause and bringing that into balance The needling practice used is tonification which means a needle is placed in an acupuncture point and then removed While a needle may be left in for a few minutes, the Acupuncturist does not leave the room and the needle does not typically stay in as long as they do in TCM Acupuncture Work with the herb Moxa which is heated on the acupuncture point before the needle is placed Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) vs Five-Element: The acupuncture points are the same Both systems are working with the energy in the body TCM will put needles in and leave them in while practitioner leaves the room for 20-30 minutes -- This does not happen in Five-Element What to expect in a treatment session: Start with clearing energy in the body by placing needles superficially in the back Observing with the senses, taking pulses, and feeling for energy blocks Not a lot of needles used -- focus on very targeted acupuncture points based on energy and imbalances Finish with grounding points on either the legs and feet or arms and hands Melissa’s Top Tips for Optimum Well-Being: Prioritize sleep Move your body Focus on hydration Resources: Where to find Melissa Farran: Instagram: @melissafarran Website: https://www.melissafarran.com/ Books that Melissa recommends: Between Heaven and Earth: A Guide to Chinese Medicine by Harriet Beinfield, L.Ac. and Efrem Korngold, L.Ac., O.M.D. Staying Healthy With the Seasons by Elson M. Hey there, welcome to the weMove podcast. There's a lot of internal change happening within weMove at the minute. Not the obvious change, Chris and I are both still involved, but with this year being what it is, it has evolved us. I'm now in Portugal living with my young family, which has been a radical, obvious, natural, needed, timely, earned move. For how long, who knows but we are up in the hills, surrounded by nature, farmland, real life and it is just what we needed, I needed. And Chris is roaming and exploring in his own way, revisiting his place of birth, and the constructs that come with that. We are both in a good place, however you define a good place. I would say it still comes with the daily sludge to move through, but interspersed with real gems and progress.Training here is happening more in this place for me than the initial phase of lockdown 1. I just didn't want to move, I wanted to be quiet and luckily I had the opportunity to. Become a kind of hermit, training with a close group of friends, having conversations that I realise are becoming the next stage of weMove. IT's pretty cool, daunting and natural. And that has informed our podcasts in a way it didn't before. We were attempting to be more planned, slick, professional, but this world feels that the conversations we have are by their very nature, real. Real in the sense that we are not setting out a formulaic conversation structure where guests are brought on to promote their new book or just getting the big names on. Because those big names you can listen to again and again and they say the same thing, their thing. We are looking to the network that is natural and connects more organically around the world, and has no less impact. In fact I think it has more impact if we actively and passively let it. Todays conversation is a continuation of last weeks pod with Georgie Holt in that it is with acupuncturist Jack Jewell, a Five Element Acupuncture practitioner and he feels like a young Jedi, of which there are a growing number of younger therapists who are following in the footsteps of the history and tradition while bringing a more contemporary take on therapy. What is consistent in Jack and the tradition is the belief that the relationship between the natural world and our bodies, is paramount in how we live, in particular how it manifests as illness in our body, mind and spirit.Which I find particularly interesting because weMove started with the belief that people just need to move and then the path will open up if we seek. What we are beginning to realise is that the seeking is our Self and who we really are. We just have to go through this initiation of endurance, learning, unlearning, finding, losing and then re-finding who we are, what we can do and what is possible.Literally, we spend our entire life if we are unlucky looking for something that was under our noses all along. Us, you, me. We are what we seek, but we have to be in that place which feels like non effort, that middle way we discuss where we can observe and shape our reality.I enjoyed this one, the sound is a little whack but that is the wonder of zoom, headsets and transcontinental Wi-Fi connections. Thanks Jack, this was good. You can find Jack on instagram @jjacupuncture and jjacupuncture.co.uk.We also got our first newsletter out a couple of weeks ago, thanks to those that signed up, sent us questions and emails. We are putting together the next one, it will be different again. If you are not on the list sign up at weMove.world. Like I said things are changing here at weMove world and it will be a good end to this year and start to the wonder that will be 2021.Peace from Portugal.

Keith Coley has been a Chinese Medical Intuitive for over 14 years and graduated with a Master's degree from The Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in 2004. He has seen many patients over his career and has come to know that the healing of the heart is the ultimate healing for all of us. Of course, addressing humanity's aches and pains is important, but seldom is chronic pain the result of a strictly physical origin. Usually, we will find a deep wound or series of wounds that have manifested as a physical set of symptoms or signs, such as headaches, depression, cancer, heart disease, and many others. So, practically speaking, what does that mean for you? It means he has the ability to help you find the deeper reason why you are ill and how to heal it.
In part 3 of the 5 part series about how Acupuncture works with Pain & Illness, Alexander explores how acupuncture helps us healing through empowering us to make needed changes in our lives. If you are in physical, emotional, or spiritual pain, or have illnesses that so far have not been resolved, this episode is for you. You will learn new distention, but will also be given a practice that you can try out today to start transforming your life. Also, if you are a practitioner of Chinese medicine, or another system of healing, this is a resource for your clients. Enjoy!
In this episode, we will dive deeply into a very powerful treatment called External Dragons. This is NOT what you learned in school! Not an acupuncturist? For anyone who has felt violated, intimidated and powerless, this podcast is for you. Furthermore, if you are a practitioner who works with others that feel this way, this will offer you new distinctions and tools to help them.

In this special episode of the Sacred Wheel Podcast, I present a workshop I gave last summer all about Energy Work. In this episode we discuss energy clearing, and why the only tool you need for clearing is your own body. We also go into the theory behind Five Element Acupuncture, a style of acupuncture I have been practicing for years. We talk about each element, (Wood, Water, Earth, Fire and Metal) and what the common characteristics for each is. We discuss how illness can arise out of events from your childhood, and how identifying your own elemental stumbling blocks can be the key to wellness. In the end of the episode I share some exciting discoveries I've made about combining Energy Clearing with the theory of Five Element Acupuncture to allow me to do distance healing sessions on my former patients. Rather than providing a “one size fits all” approach to wellness, Oriental Medicine recognizes that each of us has a unique constitution. This Eastern practice dates back at least 3000 years, but its teachings are just as relevant and powerful today as ever. Acupuncturist Cheryl Harris discusses the benefits of acupressure (and acupuncture) on some of her youngest patients. She discusses its efficacy as "preventative maintenance medicine," grounding the children emotionally and shoring them up physically. You will even get to hear from some of the children she works with on the show! Cheryl knows what she's talking about! She has a Masters of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine and she is also certified in Five-Element Acupuncture. She speaks to how the five elements--wood, fire, earth, metal, and water--appear in nature and in our own temperaments. You will find this to be a fascinating conversation that calls us all back to live in tune with nature and our own nature. Cheryl reminds us how beautiful and simple the journey to good health can be. Visit westonaprice.org for the show notes for this episode.
Brendan Kelly, acupuncturist, Chinese medicine practitioner, book author, and tai chi teacher. What if climate change — what is happening at the global level — is a reflection of our own internal and cultural imbalances? In this provocative conversation, Brendan uses the concept of Yin and Yang as a lens through which to see our current crisis. We live in a time of imbalance. Our over-emphasis on stimulation, newness, and constant growth is an excess of Yang. What we need is Yin: to slow down, to have less, and to value the old. Brendan invites us to see how our culture has devalued balance, and that only by regaining balance can we hope to heal psychological and ecological health. He asks if we can move from a doom-and-gloom view to seeing our times as a transition, as an opportunity to regain balance on all levels. Bio: Brendan Kelly has been actively involved with local, regional, and national environmental issues for 25 years. The co-founder and co-owner of Jade Mountain Wellness, where he currently practices acupuncture and herbalism, he also teaches at Johnson State College and the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture. Kelly lectures nationally on a wide variety of topics, including Chinese medicine, Western herbal medicine, personal health, climate change, and other environmental issues.
