Welcome to Self, where we discover what it means to be human in a society that shames us for trying to be ourselves. Within Self, we will delve into topics that make us who we are. We know there's a lot of BS in this world that tells you what you are and what you are not. We're here to help you and ourselves, filter through that. Our conversations range from body positivity, to politics, to identities and everything else in between. We represent intersectionalities and aim to cover ground and topics that people resonate with. Come along us as we embark on this journey of Self.

Hi Everyone! Welcome back to Episode 8 of the Self Podcast. We both thought a lot about a title for this episode and decided that “Unpacking” summed up our discussion the best. This week, we wanted to take some time to process everything that has been happening in our country lately. It has felt like the past two weeks have been filled with events that have been hard for us to process individually. From the Tragedy in Las Vegas to it being National Mental Health Day, we felt like it was only right to allow ourselves the time to “unpack” the effect these events have had on us. We talk about National Coming Out Day, Indigenous People's Day, Trump's handling of the Hurricane in Puerto Rico, and more. We think this above all this episode represents the importance of giving yourself the time and space to process things. It can all become overwhelming and overstimulating if you don't properly decompress. If any of what we cover in the Podcast sparked something inside of you, please reach out to us on Social Media, or send us an email at theselfpodcast@gmail.com. Thank you so much for listening and remember you can always tune in and subscribe on iTunes and GooglePlay! Listen to the episode here.

Welcome back to The Self Podcast! In this episode, we have a calm conversation about careers, where we see ourselves in the future, the idea of success and what it means to us.  We keep this discussion relaxed because we think it's important that we stay calm as we think about our futures. The thought of "what happens next" is often stressful and sometimes crippling. We don't want you, or ourselves, to go through this, especially not alone. So, tackle this idea with us at your own pace - you owe it to yourself to not freak out! Remember, you can find us on Google Play AND iTunes! Welcome back to Episode 5 of The Self Podcast. Before we dig into today's conversation we wanted to thank everyone who has tuned in to these first episodes! Your support and feedback has been amazing and encouraging. We are so happy to now officially be on iTunes and Google Play, which means if you go to either of those and type in “The Self Podcast Blog” you will find our show! In today's episode we talk about our newly created “Zen Bubbles,” and how they really translate into our own personal safe spaces. Given the climate in our country and around the world it has been increasingly difficult to stay positive and keep a smile on our face. Which is why we think it is important to protect your mind and your space. We delve into the historical meaning behind safe spaces and how important they can be for diverse groups of people. This past year has been emotional for a lot of people, and has left many feeling hurt and confused. We want to recognize how vital it is that each of us start being advocates for our own mental health. Whether that means creating your own zen bubble, safe space, or simply disconnecting from the internet. We each have the power over what we consume and what we allow into our lives and minds. When you take that stand to protect your space, you are in essence practicing one of the highest forms of self-love and self-care. Always remember that it is okay to take care of yourself first before taking on the burdens of the world around you. We know it can get difficult, but we encourage you all to grab hold of something that gives you hope and remember that you are supported. - Emily and Jordan Listen to the Episode Here
