The Timshel Cast podcast is an absolute gem. As someone who has often felt frustrated and confused by scripture, I was constantly searching for a deeper understanding of the Bible. This podcast, hosted by Bonnie and Jeremy, has been a revelation and provides the perfect illumination of biblical stories with a fresh perspective that truly makes sense. It's refreshing to listen along and read along in their companion book, "Timshel," as they delve into the hidden depths of scripture that have long been overlooked. The journey they embark on in this podcast is truly inspiring.

One of the best aspects of The Timshel Cast podcast is Bonnie's heart and her unwavering commitment to bringing scripture to life and making it meaningful for all listeners. Her clarity and gentleness when discussing complex topics is remarkable, opening new doors into the world of the divine and allowing listeners to trust themselves and believe in the goodness of life. The insights that Bonnie shares, along with her incredible guests, eat away at the fears and misconceptions that can often imprison our imagination when it comes to scripture and our own lives. It is truly inspiring to witness Bonnie's willingness to put everything on the line for this project and her dedication to making a difference.

However, one slight drawback of this podcast is that Bonnie recently left the Vox podcast. While it was sad news for fans who enjoyed hearing her there, it does mean that listeners now have even more opportunities to listen to her on The Timshel Cast. So in essence, it's actually a positive aspect for those who love Bonnie's teachings on scripture.

In conclusion, The Timshel Cast podcast is an absolute must-listen for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of scripture or looking to renew their faith in Christ. Whether you grew up evangelical or not, this podcast will undoubtedly provide invaluable insights into what the Bible could be saying in our current day and age. Through their discussions and interviews with various guests, Bonnie and Jeremy truly live out the essence of "thou mayest" and inspire listeners to break free from the limitations that often surround our understanding of scripture. This podcast is a powerful tool for personal growth and will undoubtedly enrich your spiritual journey.

The Tower of Babel has always felt like a distant story about a vengeful God. Jeremy and I dive into this story and reveal what knowledge we gained in translating it. The Tower of Babel is a story about empire and the quest for power, about poor theology and the dangerous cycle of confirmation bias. But, most importantly, it's about the absolute necessity for diversity. Diversity in representation, voice, relationships, and power. When Yahweh confuses the language, it was never a punishment, it was always a gift. Today's episode features a special reading form Timshel, so be sure to listen to the end! After a little hiatus, we are baaaaack! On this Between the Lines episode, the whole Timshel team gets together. Kyle Horst, the resident Psychologist on the project, joins Jeremy and Bonnie to talk about Narrative Therapy and why our stories matter in finding our place in the Divine story. In an Evangelical culture where we were taught the “self” was to be diminished, bad, and untrustworthy, we push back on this notion and suggest that our own stories are necessary in order to understand God. Kyle is a Psychology professor who, in addition, has his own private practice. He also is a writer and actor. You can find out more about him at drkylehorst.com An update on books: We were so thrilled that we were able to overcome the shipping and printing challenges due to COVID and all the books from our preorder have been shipped! In addition, they're now in stock! We are promptly shipping any new orders as they come in. Today's In the Text Episode is all about Ruth. Jeremy and Bonnie sit down to discuss this 4 chaptered book and the approach they took in interpreting this text. The beginning of Ruth is one of the most dramatized passages in Timshel as it tells the story of being a refugee. Ruth is a complex narrative about the power of working together with God and joining in the work he is already doing. We hope you enjoy! Pre-order your copy of Timshel on our website! For a limited time when you pre-order you will receive a digital edition to read immediately! Order your copy here. For our inaugural podcast we are excited to dive into the story behind the Timshel Translation, introduce you to our hosts Bonnie Lewis and Jeremy Armstrong and answer the most frequently asked questions about Timshel (What is it? What is our methodology? How can I order one?). We also dive into the writing process, talk about creativity, translation, and interpretation. We believe that there are lines written on the pages of Scripture and then the space in between is an invitation to understand, wrestle, and find new meaning. Exploring the text and then exploring everything around the text is at the core of what we do. To this end, our episodes will alternate in which we spend one week "In the Text" talking about all things Bible, exegesis, translation, history and culture, and then spend one (or two!) weeks in episodes titled "In Between the Lines". In these episodes we will interview special guests, with a wide array of different perspectives, to discuss a topic that naturally flows from the translation. We hope you enjoy the process of taking the neatly packaged translations and interpretations we have all come to know and pull back the layers with us to reveal something deeper and something new.
