The physical demands of pregnancy can be hard, especially for those of us that have physically demanding jobs on top of it. Ruby found that when she was navigating her equestrian pregnancy there was limited advice and resources available. This left her with unanswered questions about whether or not it was safe to ride, how much she could lift, or how long she would be able to work. In this episode we aim to answer these questions by sharing real information and resources to help others through their own pregnancies. ✨REVIEW GIVEAWAY✨ Each person who leaves The Whole Scoop a review will automatically be entered into the giveaway. We're warming up for Season 2 and dusting off the cobwebs with a few short episodes. Today, Jordan got a horse! Remember way back on episode 3 when we talked about the horse shopping experience and Jordan kicked off her search for a companion? We're excited to introduce you to Tater and tell you the unique story of how he came in to Jordan's life. We also think Tater deserves more air time, so we're giving him his own whole episode in Season 2. If you are like Jordan and Ruby, you love horses more than anything. You're committed to the lifestyle, your horse's welfare, and always learning more. There are more and more of us out there all the time. But the industry still doesn't have much support for us. Most training programs are geared toward competition in a particular discipline, leaving those of us with less show ring aspirations without much support. In this episode, we discuss what we can do to find that support, and what the industry can do develop it. Join us for our last conversation of season 1, but don't worry, season two will be out soon with even more interviews, thought provoking content, and laughs from the Whole Scoop team. While Jordan and our producer Maddy enjoy time staring at wall, our horses don't always feel the same. Did you know that horses only sleep 3.5 hours a day? Our domestic horses then spend 4-6 hours eating, and maybe an hour or two with us on a ride. That leaves 14 hours a day for.... vices, getting into trouble, destroying their fly mask, etc. Enrichment is the idea of building natural behaviors into your horse's life through habitat, cognition, sensory experiences, food, and toys to help keep them entertained and healthy. In this episode, Jordan and Ruby share their thoughts on the idea that nothing is ever the horse's fault. Horse behavior either stems from behavior that they think we want from them, or behavior that they believe will keep them safe. Stories are shared about "difficult" horses and the discoveries of their pain, confusion, or other misunderstandings, and the resolution of those issues. In this inflated economy, it can be difficult to find the right horse at the right price. Jordan, like many equestrians right now, is thinking about beginning her search for her first horse. Ruby talks about her experience and advice in looking for a horse, how to prioritize your wish list, where to look for a horse, and how to go through the purchasing process. Bodywork is becoming more and more popular in the horse world. It is great for performance horses and backyard ponies alike, and can help with mobility, athleticism, and pain management.
