THE BALANCED MOMTALITY- Pelvic Floor/Core Rehab For The Pregnant and Postpartum Mom
Signs, symptoms & why waiting until postpartum may be the harder path Most women don't even know they can see a pelvic floor physical therapist while pregnant. They're told leaking is normal. Pelvic pain is normal. Pressure is normal. Back pain is normal. And while those symptoms may be common in pregnancy — they are not something you simply have to live with. In this episode, Dr. Des breaks down when to see a pelvic floor PT during pregnancy, what red flags to watch for, and why proactive support can completely change your pregnancy, birth, and postpartum recovery. Because pregnancy isn't something you're meant to survive — it's something you can move through with strength, strategy, and support. In This Episode, We Cover: Why pelvic floor PT during pregnancy is often overlooked The biggest misconception about “waiting until postpartum” Common but NOT normal symptoms in pregnancy Bladder leaking, urgency, and frequent UTIs Pelvic pain, pubic symphysis pain, SI joint pain, and tailbone pain Vaginal pressure or heaviness Pain with intercourse during pregnancy How breath mechanics and posture shift as baby grows Why prevention is easier than rehab What a pelvic floor PT actually does during pregnancy Birth prep strategies including pushing mechanics and positioning
This week on Passions Podcast LeTara and guest hosts Maria and Michelle continue discussing episodes 901-905 of Passions.Grace apologizes to Kay in an attempt to keep her from going out into a raging snowstorm. Sam returns home (with Ivy in his arms) to find that his daughter is missing. Tensions run high as the Bennett family searches for a pregnant Kay before she freezes to death. Elsewhere, Tabitha continues to plead with the boys in the basement for her full powers while fighting off some seriously strange pregnancy symptoms.Follow Michelle: https://www.facebook.com/share/1DKEM4McvG/?mibextid=wwXIfr

SHOW NOTES: https://www.morriswellnessservices.com/blog/183 Fragrance is one of the most common endocrine disruptors in modern homes, and most women are exposed to it daily without realizing it. In this episode, we explain what “fragrance” actually means on ingredient labels and how synthetic scent chemicals can affect hormone balance, thyroid function, fertility, metabolism, and the nervous system. You'll learn how fragrance chemicals enter the body through inhalation and skin contact, why they can mimic estrogen, and how they may contribute to symptoms like PMS, infertility, migraines, anxiety, and stubborn weight gain. We also break down where fragrance hides, including laundry detergent, dryer sheets, candles, plug-ins, cleaning products, trash bags, and personal care items. If you've been searching for answers about endocrine disruptors, hormone imbalance, clean living, fragrance safety, thyroid health, or how to create a fragrance-free home, this episode will give you practical clarity without fear or overwhelm. This is part of a series on environmental toxins and women's hormone health. Subscribe for more conversations on hormone balance, thyroid support, fertility, metabolism, and holistic women's health. DHS Secretary Noem makes a high-profile visit to San Diego. Plus, an investigation examines why the Trump Administration is transferring unaccompanied pregnant minors to Texas. Finally, a local curling club offers classes for beginners.
The Trump administration is making changes to how it treats unaccompanied migrant children who are pregnant, and that's raising alarm bells inside the government. Since last July, the administration has been concentrating pregnant kids in one shelter in South Texas, even if they're apprehended in California or other states. This comes over objections from the government's own health and child welfare officials. They say neither the facility nor the region can provide the specialized care the girls need. When I first found out I was expecting I was completely terrified. I thought my career was going to be completely derailed. Throughout the process I gained my confidence and went on to have an unmedicated birth and receive a promotion that same year. I am now pregnant with my second and walking in that same confidence. It has not been easy but I have found strength in the journey and I am the better for it. I would love to share my lows and the tools I used to get to where I am now. In this episode, I'm answering your questions — the real ones. The ones you sent me quietly on Instagram. The ones that sit heavy in your chest at 2am. We're talking about: – Have I actually found joy again… without constantly thinking my baby should be here? – How to handle not getting grace from the people around us – What to do when you feel like your body failed you – Navigating strained relationships after stillbirth – Trying to conceive again (TTC) and the emotional rollercoaster that comes with it – Regrets about hospital decisions and the “what ifs” that won't let go – Pregnancy after loss (PAL) and living in two realities at once – The anger that comes with feeling like you have to “start over” Nothing is off limits here. I share what this has looked like in my own life — the messy middle, the guilt, the growth, the perspective shifts that took years to land. I don't offer perfect answers, because there aren't any. But I do offer honesty. If you've ever wondered whether joy is allowed… If you've wrestled with resentment toward your body… If your relationships changed and you don't recognize them anymore… If you're TTC again while terrified… This episode is for you. You're not dramatic. You're not broken. You're grieving. And I'm right here with you. ❤️
Exercise during pregnancy has long been encouraged, but clear guidance on what actually drives measurable physiological benefits has often been inconsistent. Episode 6 of The Research Debrief unpacks a newly published systematic review and meta-analysis from the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology examining how structured exercise training during pregnancy impacts maternal biomarkers. The conversation moves beyond general outcomes and dives into what the latest science says about inflamation, metabolism, hormones and immune function — and what that means for fitness operators serving pregnant members. This Episode Explores: - A new systematic review and meta-analysis examining how exercise training during pregnancy impacts maternal biomarkers - Why combining aerobic and resistance training produces the strongest physiological benefits - How moderate to vigorous intensity exercise influences inflammatory, metabolic and hormonal markers - The importance of program duration — and why interventions longer than 12 weeks matter - Practical guidelines for structuring prenatal programs in health club settings This episode provides operators with evidence-based clarity on how to confidently program for pregnant members, highlighting that structured, longer-duration aerobic and strength training can positively influence key maternal health markers — creating opportunities for safe, strategic and science-backed prenatal offerings within clubs.

In today's episode, I feature a private coaching client Jenn, who shares her three-year journey to pregnancy while navigating a PCOS diagnosis. She recounts her frustrating experiences with conventional medicine, which often left her feeling dismissed and hopeless. After taking her health into her own hands and working with Nora, Jenn learned to understand her body, stopped treatments that were masking the root issues, and successfully conceived naturally. Her story is a powerful testament to self-advocacy. Episode Highlights: Meet Jenn, a dedicated teacher whose fertility journey took unexpected turns after coming off birth control. What started as a quest to start a family became a battle for answers after a rushed PCOS diagnosis and a series of medical frustrations. Determined to take charge of her health, Jenn dives into research, challenges her diagnosis, and begins exploring holistic and alternative care. Her search leads her to Nora, whose guidance helps uncover the truth about Jenn's body and a powerful shift in her fertility story. From heartbreak to healing, Jenn opens up about loss, resilience, and the life-changing moment she realized her body could do what she once thought it couldn't. Now in her third trimester, Jenn shares what pregnancy with PCOS really looks like, and the empowering mindset that's carried her through. Her journey is a reminder that reclaiming your health starts with self-advocacy, patience, and trust in your body's wisdom. You might know her as Ivy Forrester on The Bold And The Beautiful, the long-running soap opera that has been broadcast around the world for nearly 40 years. That role marked Ashleigh Brewer’s breakout in the US, after she first came to notice working in Australian children’s shows like The Sleepover Club and H20: Just Add Water, before joining the cast of Neighbours at the age of 18. But as you’ll hear in this episode of the Stellar podcast, at 35, Ash has lived just as many lives as a character on a soap opera. Last December, she got married, and as she reveals for the first time in this interview, she is entering her third trimester as she prepares to welcome her first baby. All this has coincided with a time when Ash has never felt more comfortable in her own body, because as she also explains, she struggled with an eating disorder for several years. Candid, raw and reflective, Ash also opens up on how she pulled together her low-key, no-fuss wedding day in just nine days, why sobriety was a key part of her recovery, and how how finding support from a strong circle of fellow Aussie expats and actors including Phoebe Tonkin, Samara Weaving and her one-time housemate and Neighbours co-star Margot Robbie helped her to heal. If you or someone you know is struggling with an eating disorder, visit Butterfly at butterfly.org.au You can find out more about Ash Brewer on Instagram here. Today's episode is a special one. I got to sit down in person with Tristin Colley, formerly known as Tristin Van Ord, for a conversation that felt personal, honest, and really meaningful. Tristin is a professional marathoner, a two-time Olympic Trials Marathon qualifier, and currently pregnant with her first child, a baby girl due this April. She made her marathon debut in 2019 running 2:40 and has steadily worked her way down to a 2:25 personal best, a testament to her patience, belief, and long-term commitment to the sport. In this episode, Tristin and I talk about the many transitions she is navigating right now. From stepping away from the ZAP Endurance program following its recent closure, to moving with her husband Andrew to Raleigh, to entering motherhood while still holding big goals as a professional runner. She shares what this waiting season has looked like, emotionally and practically, as she explores sponsorship opportunities and imagines her return to racing post-baby. We also talk about the USATF Foundation Maternity Grant, which Tristin was awarded, and what it means to feel supported during pregnancy while continuing to identify as a professional athlete with unfinished business. One of the most fun parts of this episode is that Tristin received surprise messages of encouragement from Sara Vaughn, Kara Goucher, and Stephanie Bruce. These moments add so much heart to the conversation and reflect the deep support within the women's running community. I'm cheering so hard for Tristin, and truly believe that any brand would be lucky to have her on their team. Topics We Cover Tristin's progression from a 2:40 marathon debut to a 2:25 personal best Training adjustments and mindset shifts during pregnancy Navigating uncertainty after the closure of ZAP Endurance What it means to stay committed to elite running while becoming a parent The USATF Foundation Maternity Grant and why it matters Postpartum racing goals and long-term belief in development The emotional side of waiting seasons in professional sport Community support and encouragement from fellow elite runners Recording in person and how that changes the conversation Media & Mentions Support our Sponsors: Geist Half Race Series Go to geisthalf.com and use the code “Another26” for $10 off any race distances. Today Ron discusses the recent government shutdown avoidance, highlighting the passage of five separate bills, including a bipartisan vote that excluded the Save Act requiring photo ID for voting. The bill also includes $8.4 billion more than Trump's request, cuts $10 billion in wasteful foreign aid, and ends taxpayer subsidies for woke media. Ron's conversation also touches on the Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act, which passed with only one Democrat voting in favor, and the ongoing immigration enforcement efforts, emphasizing the need for cooperation from local law enforcement. Ron gives his opinion on Sen. Bernie Sanders' proposal to cap credit card interest at 10%. Ron also discusses school choice in Texas and the availability of a $1,700 federal tax credit for educational scholarships. Lastly, Ron ends the episode with some Q&A. Sen. My friend Rev. Jamie White (Pastor at First Presbyterian Church of Salt Lake City, theological/pastoral education from Vanguard University and Princeton Seminary, married mother of three) joins us to share her story including: Being raped at age 18, becoming pregnant, keeping her child—now her eldest son/recently married Feeling her life was ruined. No hope. Deep anger. Could have killed her abuser Writing letters to her unborn son The support that saved her; parents and faith community, and her mom's tough advice Therapist jolting comment: “This tragedy must become your greatest treasure.” Initial anger at this comment—but became true. Hard work to find peace and forgiveness—loving your enemies. Finding her husband Dave—and building a life together. Creating space in her congregation for diversity rather than uniformity, tough work but worth it Acceptance and love of queer members of her congregation—including the story of a thriving transgender member. If you are looking for hope/healing from difficult experiences (or better tools to help others), please listen and share this episode. Jamie brings a rare combination from her academic background, profession experience, love of Jesus, and her personal story of being a rape survivor to authentically help each of us overcome difficult experiences and find more hope, peace, healing and forgiveness. This is a super powerful podcast. I encourage everyone to listen and share with others. Pregnancy has officially entered its feral era. Between extreme hunger, emotional whiplash, snoring that could wake the neighborhood, and very strong opinions about coffee cups, things are getting… intense. In this episode, we unpack the very real chaos of late-stage pregnancy, from food combos that should be illegal to crying for no reason, feeling overstimulated by everything, and why Jordan may be “spatially unaware” (allegedly). We also get into January energy, decision fatigue, why routines feel like survival, the return of 2016 internet nostalgia, what's actually going on with Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni, and Taylor Swift, plus what we're watching, learning, and obsessed with right now. Things are unhinged. We're aware. You're welcome. We rounded up some great deals from a few of our favorite brands for you: Tossing the toxins has never been more convenient!
