Chris Chavez is back from Boston and joins Preet Majithia to break down one of the most historic days in Boston Marathon history with near-perfect racing conditions, a course record, five men under 2:04, and a dominant back-to-back title defense. But first, the guys knock out a loaded week of track results before getting to the marathon. On the sprint side: Noah Lyles opens in 19.91, Elaine Thompson-Herah returns to the 100 with a 10.92 in her first race at the distance in nearly two years, Michael Norman makes his comeback, and Gabby Thomas heads to Ethiopia chasing sub-11 in a headwind. In the NCAA, Simeon Birnbaum breaks the collegiate 1500m record at Hayward Field with a 3:31, and Jane Hedengren breaks the outdoor 5000m record at Bryan Clay with a 14:50.World Athletics rejected 11 applications for transfers of allegiance, including Roje Stona, Jaydon Hibbert, Brigid Kosgei, and Favour Ofili, all linked to Turkey's pay-for-play recruitment scheme. On the Boston Marathon: John Korir runs 2:01:52 for a course record, negative splitting with a 60:02 second half. Alphonce Felix Simbu out-sprints Benson Kipruto on Boylston for second. Zouhair Talbi runs 2:03:45, the fastest ever by an American citizen on any course, with Charles Hicks running 2:04:35 in just his second marathon. We explain the record confusion. On the women's side, Sharon Lokedi defends her Boston title, running a 14:48 split from 35K to 40K to put the race away — a segment faster than her own 5K track PB. Jess McClain is top American again, this time covering moves instead of waiting to pick off the dead. And the Americans had their best collective day in recent memory, with Annie Frisbie, Carrie Ellwood, Elena Hayday, Kodi Kleven, and Amanda Vestri all posting big personal bests. We also debut our way too early U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials Power Rankings. You can read our Boston Marathon recap here.____________Hosts: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez + Preet Majithia | @preet_athletics Produced by: Jasmine Fehr | @jasminefehr____________SUPPORT OUR SPONSORSWAHOO: With the Wahoo KICKR RUN, you can simulate the exact Boston or London Marathon course right in your own home. Wizards of the Coast (WotC) is signaling a massive strategic shift toward outsourcing the development of official *Dungeons & Dragons* content to third-party publishers, as evidenced by a recent job post for a “TRPG Publishing Lead”. This role is explicitly tasked with overseeing “externally developed D&D content, including adventures, campaign materials, guides, and artwork”. This change follows internal team restructuring, the adoption of a holistic D&D franchise model, and WotC’s recent decision to actively feature third-party products on D&D Beyond. Although WotC has previously worked with third-party designers for early D&D 5E supplements like “Hoard of the Dragon Queen” and “Princes of the Apocalypse” The practice was largely abandoned in 2016, making this an important new chapter in the company’s relationship with outside publishers. Paizo's Pathfinder launched a new subscription service called Paizo Printables on April 2, offering 3D printable miniature files and accompanying TTRPG content. The service provides two monthly subscription tiers—$4.99 and $9.99—with the higher tier including a welcome pack of 25 minis, a monthly themed pack, and digital rulebooks. Associate publisher Thurston Hillman stated that the primary goal is accessibility, bypassing the delays of physical production, and the new format offers Paizo the freedom to create niche, setting-specific miniatures. Ultimately, Paizo aims to use the platform to introduce exclusive rules content and new ancestries to the game in the future. A new physical and digital bundle is available for the Dune – Adventures in the Imperium RPG by Modiphius, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU). The physical bundle includes the *Agents of Dune Deluxe Starter Set*, the Atreides collector's edition of the *Dune: Core Rulebook*, and an Arrakis-themed dice set. Most of the titles offered in the physical bundle seem to be sold out as of this post. The Kickstarter campaign for LOWLIFE: A DUNGEON DEGENERATES ROLE PLAYING GAME, by Sean Äaberg and Goblinko, is currently live and heading toward its funding goal. The project is a major expansion of the Dungeon Degenerates: Hand of Doom board game world, creating a full TTRPG described as “Grand Theft Auto meets Game of Thrones” and focused on “low drama” stories of survival in the dark fantasy continent of Bödengärd. The game utilizes a customized Old School Renaissance (OSR) engine with a d20 roll-low mechanic and features simultaneous, deadly combat. Key mechanics include tracking “Meat & Morale” as a combined resource—where the spirit often breaks before the body—and using “Heat” to track the players’ wanted level with local authorities. Core reward tiers include the *LowLife Core RPG Book*, the Doomed Life expansion (to bridge the RPG and board game), and world guides. #dnd #paizo #dunerpg #lowliferpg Paizo Printables: https://store.paizo.com/paizoprintables/ Paizo Humble Bundle: https://www.humblebundle.com/books/pathfinder-second-edition-bundle-at-center-world-paizo-inc-books LowLife RPG: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/seanaaberg/lowlife-a-dungeon-degenerates-role-playing-game Dune Bundles: Physical – https://humblebundleinc.sjv.io/1G1KE9 Digital – https://humblebundleinc.sjv.io/WO4PBA Warmachine on MyMiniFactory: https://mmf.io/upturned Mantic Companion App: https://companion.manticgames.com/ Use our Referral code: MCTXEE Support Us by Shopping on DTRPG (afilliate link): https://www.drivethrurpg.com?affiliate_id=2081746 Matt’s DriveThruRPG Publications: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?author=Matthew%20Robinson https://substack.com/@matthewrobinson3 Chris on social media: https://hyvemynd.itch.io/ Jeremy's Links: http://www.abusecartoons.com/ http://www.rcharvey.com Support Us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/upturnedtable Give us a tip on our livestream: https://streamlabs.com/upturnedtabletop/tip Donate or give us a tip on Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/2754JZFW2QZU4 Intro song is “Chips” by KokoroNoMe https://kokoronome.bandcamp.com/
Furniture.com is a new kind of furniture marketplace: a single platform aggregating more than 3 million SKUs from 80+ retail partners, using standardized data and AI-powered personalization to replace the 15-hour odyssey most shoppers endure. VP of Brand & Creative Olivia Hnatyshin joins Phillip and Brian to unpack how the team is rebuilding the third-most expensive purchase of a person's life – one where hunter green and forest green finally mean the same thing. Building the Zillow of Furniture, One Couch At A Time Key Takeaways: Buying furniture is the third most expensive purchase a person makes, after a car or a home. 83% of furniture shoppers start online; 73% of searches are non-branded. Shoppers spend an average of 15+ hours across 4+ retailers before buying a single sofa. Data standardization is the real unlock for the category. Verticalized, purpose-built AI beats general chatbots when the stakes are high. Key Quotes: [00:07:20] "It's not really a discovery problem. It's a systems problem. The industry hasn't caught up to how people are actually shopping." - Olivia [00:18:50] "When you stop trusting the system's recommendations because they're going to be guided by advertising, you stop believing there's a real curation based on your tastes and your needs." - Phillip [00:19:45] "We're doing one thing and we wanna do it really, really well. That gives us the advantage because we're not trying to build for a bunch of other retail streams." - Olivia [00:35:50] "We're moving away from search entirely. It really is more about expressing intent and having that intent met instantly and accurately." - Olivia Associated Links: Shop on Furniture.com Check out Future Commerce on YouTube Check out Future Commerce Plus for exclusive content and save on merch and print Subscribe to Insiders and The Senses to read more about what we are witnessing in the commerce world Listen to our other episodes of Future Commerce Have any questions or comments about the show? FRI – Clark looks at rising airfare costs. One mistake people make when shopping flights is just looking at a favorite airline. Shopping multiple airlines, though, using sites like Google Flights or Hopper, can save you a ton.
Today on the gist, Mike examines the dark psychology of political permanence following the shocking murder-suicide of former Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax. SCOTUSblog editor Sarah Isgur returns to discuss the human element of the Supreme Court, explaining why the justices view themselves as consistent rather than hypocritical, why partisan "forum shopping" poses a far greater threat than the current ethics controversies, and the disastrous second-order consequences of ending lifetime appointments. . Plus, a look at the bizarre, brutal, and largely ignored 40-year reign of Ugandan leader Yoweri Museveni. There's a lot of noise right now around AI in ecommerce. Agentic commerce. AI checkouts. Bots buying on behalf of customers. It all sounds big. It all sounds important. And it all sounds like something you'll deal with… later. But here's the problem with that thinking: The biggest shift in Agentic Shopping isn't happening at checkout. It's happening the moment your customer opens ChatGPT and asks, “What should I buy?”And that moment is already here.In today's Playbook: Why AI is becoming a new discovery channel How product data determines whether you get recommended Why AI is already influencing your revenue (without attribution) What leading operators are doing differentlyConnect with JamesExplore ShopifyShopify's main episodeHealthPost's main episodeNutrition Warehouse's main episodeStudioHawk's main episodeSMS us to request a guest!Support the showWant to level up your ecommerce game? Recorded April 10, 2026 In this episode, the goon squad takes a swing at the AI gold rush, the made-up drama of "AV-over-IP 2.0," and the growing industry tradition of rebranding the same old nonsense with shinier buzzwords. If you've ever wondered whether cloud creep, interoperability promises, and subscription pricing are solving real problems or just creating newer, dumber ones, this one's for you. Then the panel gets into one of higher ed AV's favorite recurring fights: why everyone thinks classroom tech should cost about $600, why "just throw a TV on the wall" is never the simple solution people think it is, and how furniture somehow always gets approved before the technology that makes the room actually work. Along the way, they also wander into lecterns, teaching stations, and the usual AV nerd arguing over boxes, desks, and support standards like civilization depends on it. Meta just dropped something big and if you're running ads or selling products on their platforms, you need to understand what's coming. On April 8th, Meta launched Muse Spark, a brand new AI model built from the ground up by their internal Superintelligence Labs team. But the part that should have every ecom brand owner paying attention? Shopping Mode: a new feature inside Meta AI that lets users ask shopping questions and get product recommendations pulled directly from creator content, brand posts, and Reels. In this episode, Josh and Dylan break down exactly what this means for bootstrapped Shopify brands — the massive opportunity on the ad side, and the very real risks of letting Meta control more and more of your funnel. They cover:What Muse Spark actually is and why it mattersHow Shopping Mode could reshape the way consumers discover and buy productsThe "Mall Landlord Problem" and why being all-in on Meta's ecosystem is a double-edged swordWhy the organic-to-pay playbook has happened before (and could happen again)What smart brand owners should be watching right nowThis one's part excitement, part warning. In 2024, the global market for eco-labeled products crossed $500 billion. Electric vehicles, bamboo toothbrushes, compostable packaging — the shelves are full of ways to shop your way to a better planet. And yet global carbon emissions hit another record high that same year, and atmospheric CO₂ now stands above 429 parts per million. Decades of research have produced a finding that the sustainability industry doesn't want to talk about: buying green products doesn't drive the systemic change we need. It might not even be moving the needle. That's the core argument of Michael Maniates, an environmental social scientist and author of The Living Green Myth: The Promise and Limits of Lifestyle Environmentalism. Michael has spent more than 30 years studying why well-intentioned environmental choices at the checkout line fail to add up to real-world emissions reductions, and what kinds of action actually do. In this episode of Sustainability In Your Ear, he makes the case that the most powerful thing an eco-conscious person can do isn't swap their products. It's to become an active citizen. The resulting cycle has a name in Michael's framework: the trinity of despair. Earnest effort. Negligible impact. Creeping anxiety that we can't turn the corner. People try hard, see little result, feel guilty when they can't maintain perfection, and eventually burn out — or conclude that meaningful change requires getting every single person on board first. He is a sharp critic of what sociologist Elizabeth Shove has called the ABC model of social change: shift Attitudes, change Behavior, and better Choices will follow. It's the backbone of most sustainability communications — and, he argues, it's empirically fragile. Pro-environmental attitudes don't reliably produce pro-environmental behavior. Yet the model persists in education, marketing, and environmental organizing alike. Why does it keep coming back? Maniates identifies two reasons. First, it's deeply embedded in the educational system. Second, it sanitizes a genuinely gnarly problem of power and politics into a communication challenge: if we just get more information out there, people will make better choices. That framing shifts blame onto consumers, hides the structural drivers of high-carbon living, and makes life easier for politicians who don't want to touch the structural stuff.Find Michael Maniates' work, including his email to ask your direct questions, at michaelmaniates.com. His book, Consumption Corridors: Living a Good Life Within Sustainable Limits is available as a free download. The Living Green Myth: The Promise and Limits of Lifestyle Environmentalism was published in November 2025 by Polity Press.Subscribe to Sustainability In Your Ear on iTunesFollow Sustainability In Your Ear on Spreaker, iHeartRadio, or YouTube

Today's special episode is about the time Su had the worst thing happen and she survived it. She's here in body, while not technically with us anymore (spiritually or emotionally)...to tell us a tale of courage, denial and the woman in all of us that holds the truth. So sit back, definitely don't relax and enjoy this in your ears.Only One Thing In Su's Cart: Ear CoversSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Watch the video version of this podcast here: https://youtu.be/E2F0v8tM7ls I used to spend over $2,000 a month on groceries for my family of five and we were STILL going over budget. Now I spend $1,200 and stick to it every single month. That's a 40% reduction, or $800 in savings every month! And I'm doing it without extreme couponing, without buying ten newspapers every Sunday, and without rushing from store to store at 5am. If your grocery bill has been creeping up and you feel like you can't control it, this video is for you. Sign up today to be first to know when registration opens! → https://halfsizeme.com/cart Here's what changed for me: I stopped shopping at just one store assuming they had the best prices I got intentional with meal planning (really intentional) I started doing most of my shopping decisions BEFORE I left the house I eliminated the food waste from buying things I never used I balanced HEALTH and SAVINGS together (no "just eat beans and rice" mentality) What I'm NOT doing: ❌ Extreme couponing ❌ Rebate apps (though I'll teach you how, if you want to use them) ❌ Shopping at 10 different stores every week ❌ Sacrificing my family's health to save money I went from being a full-time extreme couponer back in 2008–2012 (cutting coupons from 10 newspapers, working CVS and Walgreens deals) to completely letting go of that during my weight loss journey and Half Size Me launch. But when our grocery budget kept climbing year after year, I knew I had to do something. I just didn't want to go back to that exhausting coupon life. So I figured out a simpler, more sustainable way. And now I'm teaching it. In this video, I share: Why I was so resistant to tackling my grocery budget (and what finally made me do it) How we paid off $180,000 in debt using Dave Ramsey's methods The difference between my old extreme couponing days and what I do now Why your food bill is probably your second-highest expense (and why that matters) How being intentional with planning saves more money than chasing deals Why I didn't drop from $2,000 to $1,200 overnight (and why you shouldn't either) The biggest mistake people make: buying "deals" that sabotage their weight loss goals This is NOT just about saving money. It's about saving money while ALSO supporting your health and weight loss goals. I refuse to teach you to eat junk food all day just because it's cheap. We're going to do this the right way... together.
