Tiga will fully exploit his status as friend and confidante to some of the world’s top DJs to ask what is almost certainly The Ultimate DJ Question: “It’s your last set ever: what do you play?” As guests (Carl Cox, Annie Mac, Pete Tong and more) share their ultimate opening tracks, peak-time bombs…
On this edition of Last Party On Earth I sit down with techno icon, global DJ and electronic composer Richie Hawtin. Ive known Rich since day 1 (day 1 being 1992) and he has been a tireless source of inspiration for an entire generation: from his masterwork albums, his relentless conceptual experimentation and of course his slamming DJ sets. Rich is techno personified.

There is only ONE Chilly Gonzales; musical genius, writer, composer, performer, rapper and luckily for me: co-conspirator. I sat down with him, in the last weeks of a pre-pandemic world (unknown to us at the time) and talked about music and life, daft punk and karaoke and everything in between. There was really only one way to launch Season 3 of Last Party On Earth, with my friends, mentors and co-conspirators 2ManyDJs. I heard your calls, I heard the requests, and responded with an in-depth and shockingly personal 90min odyssey with the Dewaele Brothers. We explore friendship, production, my music, their music and so much more. Part 2 is available exclusively on my Club-Sexor Patreon page. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

I loved this one! Very few people are as knowledgeable, articulate and curious as Benji- and we got into so many different elements of DJ culture, music, A&R, Public Enemy, jungle, Fabio, wedding music, sound system culture, fashion.... really it could have been a 10hr episode. And listen to his twist on the regular format: he curated his dream party— complete with 7 rooms and 31djs. This ones for the heads- Let’s do this. Around 2000 something big happened in electronic music: a group of new artists, a bunch of misfits from all over the world mixed a little bit of techno, a little bit of the 80s, some new romantic vibes, and a bit of punk attitude, and seemingly almost by accident all came together in what at the time was called “Electro". I was lucky enough to have been part of that movement with my track Sunglasses At Night, but to me the artists that really always nailed it, the ones that stood out as being very special were Miss Kittin and The Hacker. And today I’m very lucky to talk to Miss Kittin. We had an amazing conversation, we talked about her entire career, including 20+ years as a global DJ, the electro years and everything else that came afterwards, she continued to make amazing records with The Martinez Brothers, Michael Myer, DJ Anna and more, and we touched upon a lot of interesting material, including the making of a song like Frank Sinatra, which for me is one of the best ever. We talked about Aphex Twin (as usual), Jeff Mills, Marcel Dettman, and about maintaining purity and artistic integrity, about the intention behind music, and the Gigollo records era. What I found was a very thoughtful, creative and sensitive artist that had done a lot of work, thinking it through on their own and more than anything had just made incredible original music, so I hope you enjoy this, I really loved it, meant a lot to me. This is Last Party on Earth with Miss Kittin: a true original. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

I really can’t say enough about Boyz Noize, real name Alex. He’s a very close friend, he’s a ridiculously good DJ and an awesome producer.Over the past 15 years, you’d be hard pressed to find someone who has made as many killer records as Boys Noize, he has worked with everyone from Gonzales to Frank Ocean, he's had partnerships with Skrillex and even made records with me. He's done a million sick remixes, and as a DJ he's simply awesome. He was making giant bangers before that was really even a thing: Alex was one of the architects of that sound. He's an incredibly sweet guy and we have become great friends over the years, and it was a real pleasure to sit down with somebody who isn’t at all jaded and is completely in love with what he does.We sat down at the end of last year, pre-corona virus, you can hear it…we are very excited and very naive, just two friends laughing. I talk a little more than normal because I tend to talk OVER my friends. We manage to cover acid, Thomas Bengalter and Theo Parrish…. and what really comes across most is Alex's love of what he does. Its incredibly refreshing and put a real smile on my face. hope you enjoy it. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
There are very few producers that I rate as highly as Four Tet. Over the past 20 years , Kieran Hebden has managed to pretty much tick every box that matters musically. He makes records that so many of us love, that you can listen to at home, that slam at a partyand he seems to have done it all with grace, composure and a quiet confidence. I loved this conversation, and its really worth listening to.Kieran is very thoughtful and deliberate and I found it very inspiringIt should be noted that this show was recorded in January of 2020, in a world that seems barely recognizable now.We covered a lot of things: Ricardo Villalobos, rewinds, Burial, the feeling of being a teenagerand went through his career highlights, and we did it all like two friends without a care in the world, sitting there at the beginning of what was then a fresh year.Excuse the fact i was kinda jacked up on the limitless possibilities of 2020, obviously now everything is different. It's quite a long conversation, but hopefully it gives you 90min of an escape as you can hear two friends talking about DJing, music and life.this is…. Episode 6 of Last Party On Earth is a BONUS EDITION, featuring a one hour deep dive interview with the one and only Seth Troxler. It was recorded before i had established the Last Party format, so it's really more a discussion among friends about DJing, art, our heroes and the afterlife. enjoy. If you close your eyes and think of a DJ, there is a good chance you think of Carl Cox. It's hard to imagine an artist who has been so good for so long, someone who still has so much passion and love for his craft. I was excited to sit down with Carl, in the beautiful Ibizan countryside, to learn from a man who exudes so much joy and energy. Enjoy….. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
If you are into dance music, Pete Tong is an institution. I would suggest he has introduced more music to more people than anybody. And really when you think about it, that's about as cool as it gets. We cover funk/soul dancers, ibiza afterparties and psychedilcs…. enjoy! See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Annie Mac: Broadcaster, DJ, ambassador…is it too early to say legend? And a great friend. Annie has tirelessly championed the music of so many of us over the years, with her impeccable taste, often times when nobody else would. We sat down at the legendary Fish Shack in Ibiza to talk about her music, life and most importantly, having FUN See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Gerd Janson is a real DJ. He was also a journalist, he runs Running Back, a fantastic label and he's an exceptionally articulate and thoughtful man….. just don't call him an artist. I loved recording this episode: loose, bordering on chaotic…. but unmistakably a real conversation between friends. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
I met my friend Rune, professionally known as Kolsch, backstage at a “Sensations White” party in Copenhagen. I of course refused to wear white, and he was wearing a very special watch, and those two talking points were enough to get us started. Years later, he still inspires me with his passion, his good vibes, his clear thinking and his intelligence. In many ways we are complete opposites… the tension somehow works magic, not only with our actual friendship, but also our musical collaborations like HAL.
