This includes a glittering endorsement from Pete Tong who tipped Franky as one of his Future Stars for 2020 and regular spins on Radio 1 from Annie Mac, Danny Howard and Mistajam. He set up his own label Shen in 2019, launching with a two-track EP of his own music: ‘Nightfall' and ‘Next Life', two tracks that further demonstrated his confident grasp of varying styles. The two cuts, plus support from luminaries such as Sasha and contemporary tastemakers like Adriatique, got the label off to a flying start. With years of hard work already behind him, Franky's is by no means an overnight success and he is intent on achieving longevity while maintaining his credibility. With his natural talent, armory of dance floor weapons, positive attitude and high work ethic, there's no doubt that Franky Wah will achieve an enduring legacy and a whole lot more…  If you would like to join my community to carry on with all of these discussions please sign up to the link here: http://willclarke.club/ Learn more about your ad choices. Breaking news from Ardalan and T.Williams at Basscoast Festival

Video version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03N5Bd9FunM Welcome back to another episode of the Rave Room Podcast. In this episode I sat down with 2 absolute legends. We spoke about how they enjoyed their Basscoast festival experience, their music and so much more. Ardalan Enamored first by traditional Iranian music and classic jazz and rock, Ardalan's taste began to transform with his childhood years spent moving back and forth from Iran and California. “Mr. Spock.” Call it beginner's luck, or more likely, a sign of what was to come–in2010, Ardalan shared one of his earliest studio explorations with Justin Martin, which became the foundation for the breakout hit. “Mr. Spock,” in its bizarre and booty-shaking glory, has been accredited as one of the “tracks that made Dirtybird famous,” helping to define the label's now darling reputation as a trusted source of ridiculous, off-the-wall dance floor bangers. Since, he continued to translate his deep-rooted connection to the dance floor in the studio with remixes on Toy Tonics, Play It Down, Yoshitoshi, and Dirtybird. T Williams  West London's T.Williams is one of those people, having accomplished a full sweep of merited recognition over the years. Emerging onto the house scene in 2010, T.Williams instantly marked himself as a breakthrough artist with a difference; his unique take on house music turning heads. Far from a newcomer, his path as a musical artist started in the grime scene as Dread.D. Signed at the tender age of 17 with grime anthem Invasion on Jon E Cash's Black Ops label, Williams went on to have mass success in the grime and bass world selling thousands of singles worldwide. After a five-year reign, Williams found himself veering towards the world of house music. releasing solo works on his imprint Local Action and Pattern with remixes for Maya Jane Coles, Ben Westbeech and Skream. The end of 2011 saw Williams nominated for ‘Best Breakthrough DJ' by DJ Mag, ‘DJ Stars of 2012' by Time Out and featured in The Guardian. Two relationships came to the forefront in 2012 that propelled Williams to greater heights. The first was his weekly show on legendary London station, Rinse FM and the second, Williams' relationship with label PMR through his remix of Javeon McCarthy's ‘Lost Time'. The remix was named Record of the Week by BBC Radio 1 and supported by tastemakers Annie Mac and Fearne Cotton. From here T. signed to the label exclusively releasing his debut EP for the label in September 2012, and in the process receiving further support from BBC Radio 1. Further remixes of Mikky Ekko, Wretch 32 and Lianne La Havas followed suit, as well as his biggest to date - Disclosure's ‘Latch'. Powering dancefloors across the globe. Gaining his own monthly residency show with BBC Radio 1, 2013 ended with T. having played over 100 shows across four continents. 2017 marked the launch and release of the first collaborative EP with UK producer Julio Bashmore, via their joint independent Conch Records, a label aiming to push out more underground cross-genre music with heavy rotation from the likes of Moxie and Shy One. With an ever-expanding global tour schedule and further solo releases on the legendary NYC house label Strictly Rhythm turning heads, T.'s upward trajectory has never showed signs of slowing down. Using his technical prowess as a musician to educate the next generation of rising stars at London's respected Point Blank Music School has cemented his status as one of the UK music scene's key players.  Connect: Rave Room Podcast: https://linktr.ee/raveroompodcast --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/raveroompodcast/message

Podcast Overview: Arielle spoke about her Hï residency with David Guetta, Radio 1 and the importance of keeping her routine. Who Is Arielle: Arielle Free's meteoric rise in the dance music industry in an earnest one. Arielle has become a key figure in the music world, continuing to shape the musical landscape around her. Often referred to as Scotland's answer to Annie Mac, which is an easy comparison to make. Yet dig a little deeper and it's easy to see how Arielle is carving out her own space in dance music... cutting her teeth in her formative years as the host of Ministry of Sound's Radio Drive Time, she was then brought in to cover Saturday's Dance Anthems by the BBC, making a lasting impression which reinforced her claim to a highly coveted Radio 1 spot then being promoted to early breakfast host alongside becoming the daytime face of Radio 1 Dance. Arielle burst onto the club scene with performances at Printworks, Creamfields, Parklife, Glastonbury, Glovebox & TRNSMT, not to mention her debut in Ibiza. Arielle Free has constantly pusher herself from radio DJ, to club DJ, to label owner, to producer & beyond! Dawn O'Porter reigned supreme in the area of TV that wanted the presenter ‘immersed' in the subject; exploring the dangerous size-zero aesthetic, attitudes to nudity, mail order brides, geisha traditions and most personally perhaps, breast cancer, the disease to which she lost her mother. But since 2006 she's refocused her attention to the written word having penned eight books, with two more on the way, her latest is Cat Lady. Believe it or not the new football season is just three weeks away. But Robert Kasanga is worlds away from the big money world of Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp. Having turned his life around from a world of inner-city gangs to founding Hackney Wick FC – a club that gives young people involved in gangs a way out through football. Nick Hounsfield began his career as an osteopath, following in the footsteps of his father, and set up his own practice alongside his wife. A passionate surfer since he was knee high to a grasshopper, Nick has since founded The Wave, a pioneering artificial surfing park which opened its first site near Bristol in 2019. But less than a year later, at the age of 46, Nick suffered a series of strokes, and his infant business was forced to close because of the pandeminc. We had the pleasure of interviewing Moon Boots over Zoom video!Talented keyboardist, DJ, and producer Moon Boots (Peter Dougherty) has revealed his third studio album ‘Ride Away'. The ten-track LP will land on March 17th on Anjunadeep.Written and produced over a nearly two-year period beginning in early 2021, ‘Ride Away' contains themes of love, companionship, and personal exploration. Hauling in a crate's worth of musical influences, Moon Boots has imbued ‘Ride Away' with his characteristic blend of soul, disco, and house music, whilst also introducing the sounds of synthpop, breakbeats, and psychedelica. Marrying these eclectic styles is part and parcel of Moon Boots' idiosyncratic sensibility, honed through years of living and DJing in Chicago, the birthplace of house music, and in the musical melting pot of Brooklyn.‘Ride Away' follows in the footsteps of Moon Boots's debut ‘First Landing' (2017) and sophomore album ‘Bimini Road' (2019). With an impressive catalogue atypical of the dance world, Dougherty's third album represents both his tenacity and evolution as a producer and songwriter. The writing process was met with many difficult but rewarding experiences; creative bursts were balanced with instances of anxiety and self-doubt, yet Dougherty found the music writing process invigorating and cites his wife's continual support and incoming firstborn daughter as encouraging him to move forward. Of course, more time in the studio allowed Dougherty to experiment with new creative processes (and mind-altering methods) over the course of the album's formation.Featuring a swathe of colourful vocalists including the likes of Cherry Glazerr, Dope Earth Alien, and Nic Hanson, ‘Ride Away' celebrates Dougherty's longstanding affinity for collaboration, fun effervescent songwriting, and dance-focused production. Other international artists on the album include French singer Praa and Norwegian band Ora The Molecule, whilst longtime collaborators Ross Clark (St. Lucia) and Steven Klavier feature as writers and instrumentalists on the record, rounding out a global ensemble of incredible talent.Having accrued well over 100 million streams on Spotify alone, and having been championed by the likes of Annie Mac, Diplo, Danny Howard, and The Blessed Madonna, Moon Boots has established himself as a trailblazer of R&B-infused dance music. Having released on legendary French house label French Express, and remixed the likes of Dua Lipa, Robyn, and Nile Rodgers.Following the release of his new single “Ride Away” featuring Steven Klavier, Moon Boots has announced a new run of live tour dates supporting his upcoming album Ride Away. These live shows represent the first tour since his 2019 Bimini Road international tour, which was regarded as unforgettable by fans of the Brooklynite musician. Though best known as a DJ and producer, Moon Boots is also a formidably talented keyboardist. Acting as music director and bandleader, Moon Boots rearranges and recontextualizes his catalog for an explosive live experience. These shows will be can't-miss events for fans and lovers of live electronic music. The shows will feature performances from Moon Boots along with band members Ross Clark and Dustin Kaufman (St. Lucia) and a number of guest vocalists from his eclectic crew of collaborators. Matt Guy is one of the breakthrough artists of 2022 (as nominated by Radio 1 having delivered one of the summer's hottest track IDs. Finally released September 9th on Armada Music, ‘Set My Mind Free' launched as Pete Tong's Essential New Tune after gaining pre-release support from Pete and his Radio 1 colleague Sarah Story. Add to that, heavy club and festival rotation from DJs as diverse as Solomun to Gorgon City and ‘Set My Mind Free' is up there as one of 2022's most anticipated records. Since release the record has been added to KISS FM and Capital Dance playlists, received Tune of the Week on BBC Radio 1 and has surpassed one million streams. At club level the record now has the backing of heavy weights from across the scene, the likes of CamelPhat, Joseph Capritati, FISHER, Tiesto, Dom Dolla and Sam Divine. ‘Set My Mind Free' came hot on the heels of 2022 releases ‘Party Starter' and ‘Krupa', both of which were both supported by DJs from all corners of dance music; from stalwarts of the UK underground scene Patrick Topping and Annie Mac to global mainstage names such as Diplo, Vintage Culture and Claptone. Going into this year, Matt Guy is a highly in demand producer and remixer with the DJ prowess to match. He is set to take over in 2023. Enjoy x

We also speak to Caitlin Moran about how rare it is to hear from Kate and why she is inspired by her songs. A report out today has found that the number of abortions has increased over the course of the pandemic. The cost of living has been cited as a key factor for this rise at an uncertain time in the economy and with job insecurity. Mary-Ann Stephenson is co-director of the Women's Budget Group, an independent body which analyses the impact of government policy on women. A decision is also expected any day from the US Supreme Court on whether to overturn Roe v Wade – the historic 1973 ruling which has guaranteed women access to abortion nationwide. At the centre of this legal challenge, is a woman who is being hailed by some as the lawyer who could end Roe v Wade. She is the Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch…and the BBC's Holly Honderich joins Emma to explain more. Twice as many women than men are receiving electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) according to researchers at the University of East London. ECT is used to treat a range of mental health issues including severe depression, long-lasting mania, and catatonia. But an FOI request to twenty NHS Trusts has also revealed that older women are also more likely to be receiving treatment. They are concerned it causes memory loss and that patients are not given sufficient information to make informed decisions before they give consent to treatment. Emma is joined by one of the lead researchers, clinical psychologist Dr Chris Harrop and by Dr Trudi Seneviratne, Registrar of the Royal College of Psychiatry. Emma speaks to the writer, DJ and broadcaster, Annie Mac on what has been a big week for music. They discuss Beyonce's new single, Break My Soul, which marks a change of musical genre for her as it's a House track.
