. Reliquaries, Status Seeking, and Rune Amulets Against Dwarves Eleanor Barraclough Embers of the Hands: Hidden Histories of the Viking Age The discussion moves to reliquaries, originally used in a Christian context, such as at Lindisfarne, to house saints' relics. Norse raiders prized the metal and decoration, discarded the relics, and brought them back to Norway, often gifting them to women. These items were passed down through female generations or repurposed as brooches, suggesting that early raids were often masculine activities focused on acquiring wealth and status necessary for young men to secure a wife and establish a home. Pre-Christian belief systems involved protective runes and amulets against malevolence caused by supernatural beings such as elves or dwarves. A human skull fragment from Geber, Denmark, dating to the early eighth century, was carved with runes, possibly intended to guard against sickness caused by dwarves. 1919

Trots motgångarna gick Karlskronas örlogsvarv in i en glansperiod tack vare skeppsbyggaren Fredrik Henrik af Chapman. On a special interview edition of Monday Match Analysis, Gill Gross is joined by former top-5 player Jimmy Arias to discuss the evolution of tennis and the modern game. One of the most fascinating things about tennis, is how it has continued to change over the years. I think we've reached a point where it's starting to become clear how 2020s tennis is going to be viewed as an evolution. It's one thing looking at Sinner and Alcaraz- that's only two players. It's when you start considering: Fils, Rune, Lehecka, Fonseca, Cobolli, and Draper… not to to say they're all the same. But you can start to see a prototype forming for the modern player of the mid to late 2020s.

Witches have always known there is something otherworldly about mushrooms. They rise overnight, glowing in the damp dark, growing in rings that open into portals. They are death and rebirth embodied — feeding on decay to bring new life. In this episode we step into the mushroom circle together… We wander into the fairy folklore of toadstools and fae-rings. We explore the mysteries of Amanita Muscaria, the red-capped witch's mushroom. We uncover how the Maya, Aztecs and Egyptians revered mushrooms in their magick and rites. We dive into how witches used them in flying ointments and how Druids worked with their mysteries. We trace their hidden links to alchemy and transformation. We explore their magickal properties and the unique powers of different mushroom types. And I share how to work with mushrooms in your own craft, including a recipe for a Death & Rebirth Anointing Oil infused with mushroom spirit. This is a journey into the strange, the sacred, and the liminal. Listen now and step into the mushroom's circle of magick… if you dare. Our book review is Salems Lot by Stephen King. Lots of witchy love Carly xx

September Witchcraft - Harvest Moon, Mabon, Heather & The White Hare In this episode, I'm stepping into the autumn magic of September — a time of gathering, gratitude and transition. We begin with the Harvest Full Moon, exploring its folklore and how you can weave its abundant energy into your craft. I dive into the lore of Heather — a plant long tied to luck, protection, and threshold spaces — and share its magical properties for spellwork and ritual. We celebrate Mabon, the autumn equinox, a sabbat of balance, harvest, and honouring the turning of the wheel. To close I read the folk tale of The White Hare — a story from Dorset legend filled with mystery and enchantment. Plus, I review The Cornish Witch by Elena Collins — a time-slip novel brimming with spirits, Cornwall's landscape and the whisper of magic. Whether you're preparing your altar for Mabon, gathering herbs beneath the Harvest Moon, or simply soaking in September's shifting energy, this episode will guide you deeper into the magic of the season. Harvest Moon Tarot/Oracle Spread (5 cards — can be done with tarot, oracle, or a mix) The Harvest — What have I gathered this season? → What blessings, lessons, or abundance is ripe and ready to acknowledge. The Gratitude — What deserves my thanks right now? → Where to pour appreciation to strengthen roots. The Balance — What is seeking harmony within me? → What needs to be brought into balance at this turning point of light and dark. The Release — What must I let go of before winter? → Habits, fears, or weights that cannot come with you into the darker half of the year. The Illumination — What guidance does the Harvest Moon shine upon my path? → The wisdom or vision that lights the way ahead. Harvest Moon Journal Prompts What am I most proud of harvesting this year — in work, spirit, relationships, or self? Where in my life am I being called to pause and give gratitude? What feels “out of balance” in me right now, and how might I restore harmony? What am I ready to lay down, release, or compost before the dark months? If the Harvest Moon could whisper one message to me, what would it be? What seeds of intention do I want to carry safely through the winter, to blossom when light returns?

What starts as a simple dive into media tracking apps quickly spirals into tangents about puzzles from hell, glamping with bison and mustangs, fistfights with Satan in Pittsburgh, and the glory days of scrobbling music. Along the way, Peter and Eden hash out their very different relationships with games, books, music, and movies—and why, at the end of the day, “the juice is not worth the squeeze” when it comes to tracking everything we consume.Opening catch-up: Eden returns from travel and vents about the oppressive Midwestern humidity.Eden recounts a cursed puzzle vacation and a surreal HipCamp adventure that included glamping in a bus, staying at a mustang ranch, and hearing a wild coma story involving battling Satan.A detour into mobile gaming: Eden introduces the absurd yet addictive horse girl racing game Uma Musume.Peter shares his ongoing love for Taskmaster, Donkey Kong Bonanza on the Switch 2, and recent reading progress (Wind and Truth, Tiny Experiments).Music talk:New releases from Carbomb, Abigail Williams, and Blackbraid.Remembering Eric Wunder of Cobalt, with Peter realizing Slow Forever might be his true desert island album.Main Topic: Media tracking apps and services.Video games: Eden dabbled with Backloggd but finds it too much work; Peter doesn't see the appeal beyond Steam's built-in history.Books: Eden logs reads in a notebook; Peter wrestles with StoryGraph, Hardcover, and Goodreads but finds the friction too high. Notion experiments fail; AI-summarized notes for nonfiction survive.Music: Nostalgia for scrobbling and Last.fm; frustrations with Spotify, Apple Music, and Plex setups. Peter praises Plexamp and Rune; Eden experiments with Cloud Beats and dreams of a NAS.Movies/TV: Eden dislikes fragmented platforms; Peter mentions using Sequel lightly but relies most on Call Sheet, an IMDb alternative. Eden uses League of Comic Geeks only to track physical comics in his collection.Closing thoughts: both agree that while tracking can be tempting, talking to people and communities is a far more rewarding way to discover new media.
