Our second episode on the Odinic path takes us to Rune Hjarnø Rasmussen, founder of Nordic Animism and initiate to Odin in the Candomblé tradition. We speak to him about his initiation to a Norse god in an Afro-Brazilian syncretistic context, about the nature of initation in general, and how the Odinic qualities of speaking something into being and insisting on the right story are crucial counterweights to our hypermodernistic and overly representational times. What is a right story? What is a wrong story? Can you destroy the sacred by making it too seen? Too available? David Linder is a Swiss author and falconer who has studied the runes and Norse mythology extensively with a focus on practical applications.  His new book, Advanced Rune Magic (2026), has been described as:  "a valuable addition--with insight into tradition as well as innovative creativity that gives the reader new perspectives on the runes.  The book is rooted in historical runology and highlights esoteric aspects of the medieval rune poems, while being at the same time applicable to contemporary practitioners."  Edren Thorsson has also described the book as "a mythic travelogue through the mysteries of the runes. Anyone who seeks to travel these roads and rivers at the highest levels will find these pages as a useful guide and companion. To further connect with David, please see:  https://livingrunes.ch/. “I grew up near the west coast here in Denmark, so yeah, the sea has always been there. And Aarhus is also a harbor city, so definitely there's something relaxing about going down to the water and hearing the whistling. We implemented that in Necesse, actually. We have a water fountain that's spatial, so that when you get near to it, you hear it rustling. You can sit by it and actually get the feeling that you're talking about, of just, you know, [dreaming] away.” – Rune EskildsenThis episode is the second half of my conversation with composer Rune R. B. Eskildsen as we discuss the balance between AI convenience and human intuition, where the data we feed AI ends up and how it might be used, and his work on the upcoming, highly anticipated game Out of Words. As always, if you have questions for my guest, you're welcome to reach out through the links in the show notes. Both those things really help, and I'd love to feature your review on future podcasts. You can leave one either in written or in voice format from the podcast's main page. I would so appreciate that.(00:00) – Navigating AI and Copyright ChallengesAs the second half of our discussion starts, Rune shares his thoughts on the growth of AI and how even a simple jingle can benefit from a human touch. “It's a story that you are trying to convey through the brand or whatever you're making that sound for,” he explains. “Yes, you could recreate the same thing with an AI, but it wouldn't be able to encapsulate the thoughts that we've spoken about.” We talk about the environmental impact of AI and the data centers that power it, and how different countries are looking to offset, and even take advantage of, that impact. “Data centers are going up,” he notes, “I just learned recently that in Amsterdam or somewhere in the Netherlands, they use data centers to heat up the city. So they build them on the ground and then they heat parts of the city.”(15:45) – The Role of Human Emotion in SoundOur conversation turns to some of the privacy concerns that have sprung up around AI, and how they affect his use of it for professional clients. “Even though it might not go anywhere, we don't know if it's going anywhere,” he says about prompts. “It takes a snapshot and puts it somewhere and hides it. And there might be some secret stuff, so yeah, that's also a concern.” He discusses some cases where, on the other hand, AI has helped clients better express their needs. “I think talking about AI as a tool,” he tells us, “maybe people would do that, say, ‘This is kind of the vibe that I want to do. And I've made it with AI or made it myself or whatever, but now I want you to do it properly.'"(22:00) – Rune's Advice for Product DesignersAs our conversation wraps up, Rune elaborates on the different, often subtle impact that AI and human compositions can have on listeners. “I guess that's sort of the same,” he explains, “[as] plastic plants and real plants. And that's definitely, you know, it lights up and there are some colors which you really can't emulate that well, even though some of the plastic ones are good.” He tells listeners how they can get in touch and talks about some of his upcoming projects, including the indie adventure platformer Out of Words. “We have some updates coming and we'll be on sale on Steam when we go into winter,” he adds. “So that is nice. And yeah, we have some bigger updates coming.”Episode SummaryRune shares insights on the current copyright landscape in Denmark.Discussion on the ethics and sustainability of AI in the audio industry.Rune gives tips on how to enhance sound quality in product design.Connect with the Audio Branding Podcast:Book your project with Voice Overs and Vocals by visiting https://voiceoversandvocals.comConnect with me on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/jodikrangle/Watch the Audio Branding Podcast on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/c/JodiKrangleVOConnect with me on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/jodikrangle/Leave the Audio Branding Podcast a review at https://lovethepodcast.com/audiobranding (Thank you!)Share your passion effectively with these Tips for Sounding Your Best as a Podcast Guest!https://voiceoversandvocals.com/tips-for-sounding-your-best-as-a-podcast-guest/Get my Top Five Tips for Implementing an Intentional Audio Strategyhttps://voiceoversandvocals.com/audio-branding-strategy/Editing/Production by Humberto Franco - https://humbertofranco.com/This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: OP3 - https://op3.dev/privacy

In this episode I speak again with Rev. Máire Durkan. We talk about Frigg and the twelve goddesses who make up her “Council.”  But from a different perspective and way of getting to know them. In Frigg's Twelvefold Flame, Máire's approach to the goddesses shows how they can be worked with to help with pressing matters today including justice, activism, and allyship. They are not (and never have been) “lesser” goddesses in the background to be occasionally referred to when it suits a purpose.  They are vibrant, active, and have a message that is needed in today's society and climate worldwide. Although many of the Council do not have a lot of lore, mythology, or archeological remnants, they are reaching through the veil of mystery those absences create to connect with people today to write new stories, create ritual, empower, and inspire creativity and activism. Frigg's Twelvefold Flame is available from Llewellyn Books, local book shops, or online sellers. Programleder: Sivert MoeSupport this show http://supporter.acast.com/anger. In today's podcast, Dave tells us about a book called Rune: The Tale of a Thousand Faces. It's the first in a graphic novel series by author-illustrator Carlos Sanchez. It's a great choice for middle-school and older kids – particularly those with an interest in D&D-style games and fantasy worlds. “Chiri and best friend Dai live in an orphanage right next to the deepest, darkest forest. On a scavenging mission to find some amazing new ingredients for her many culinary experiments, Chiri plunges both her and her best friend into the secret kingdom of Puddin', a secret place plagued by the Thousand Faces Monster and inhabited by all sorts of magical people and critters. Befriending witches, bards, ogres and sorcerers, can our two protagonists make it home and more importantly, can they evade the darkness that has awoken on their arrival?” Find this book in the FVRL collection: https://fvrl.bibliocommons.com/v2/record/S21C1922816

“When I started on the project of Necesse, we had maybe thirty sound effects. I've made around 400, 350 sound effects, so it's become much more immersive. You can hear animals when you wander around in the different environments. And just the feedback you get by playing the game, it's quite nice compared to before, which were much more… maybe empty is the right word.” – Rune EskildsenThis week's guest is a media composer, sound designer, and drummer based in Denmark. He writes music and builds sonic identities across formats, from commercials and podcast jingles to film scores, game music, and in-game sound design. He holds a Master of Science in Strategic Communication, which he applies to creative direction, collaboration, and clear, audience-first storytelling.More recently, he's become the Composer and Sound Designer of the indie game Necesse, selling more than 2,000,000 copies. His name is Rune R. B. Eskildsen, and he bridges classical training and cutting-edge technology to tell stories through sound. This episode will give you a fresh, behind-the-scenes perspective on how sound can shape emotion, imagination, and even player behavior. As always, if you have questions for my guest, you're welcome to reach out through the links in the show notes. At this time, I started to have ear training and music theory and all of that, which kind of led me on a path to try to make my own.”(15:00) – From Classical Music to Video GamesThe discussion turns to his work in the video game industry and how he got his start in composing video-game soundtracks. “I showed up at this incubator with game companies,” he tells us, “and I was, like, ‘This is me, I do music, I want to do music for games.' And then some of the guys there, they said, ‘Hey, we want to work with you.'" Rune gives us a behind-the-scenes look at game development and recalls his sound work on MineRalph, a game where the soundtrack had to keep pace with the action. “So, because you gain speed if you're, like, going down a hill or something like that, or down a hole,” he explains, “if you have high speed, the music will change into different adaptive layers.”(21:40) – Creating Immersive Gaming SoundscapesAs the first half of our talk comes to a close, Rune tells us more about his work with video games and shares another memorable project that took some outside-the-box thinking. “That was like a dystopian world sci-fi thing,” he recalls, “and that was actually mainly symphonic music. But again, it was sci-fi, so I was able to design a lot of, you know, sounds that people did not hear before.” He shares his thoughts on where indie games are heading next and how organic creativity is becoming an increasingly valuable asset in the industry. “I think in terms of trends,” he explains, “people are trying to make immersive worlds that are standing out more than just being, you know, if you use Unity... making it more creative, making your own world, making it hand-drawn instead.”Episode SummaryRune shares his early memories of sound, particularly from sci-fi films.Rune explains his journey from classical music to video game soundtracks.Discussion on current trends in game audio and the role of AI.Tune in for next week's episode as we talk more about the influence of AI in video games and cinema, Rune's advice to musicians for juggling the rapid-fire demands of modern freelancing, and how countries around the world are managing the environmental impact of the AI boom.Connect with the Audio Branding Podcast:Book your project with Voice Overs and Vocals by visiting https://voiceoversandvocals.comConnect with me on Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/jodikrangle/Watch the Audio Branding Podcast on YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/c/JodiKrangleVOConnect with me on LinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/jodikrangle/Leave the Audio Branding Podcast a review at https://lovethepodcast.com/audiobranding (Thank you!)Share your passion effectively with these Tips for Sounding Your Best as a Podcast Guest!https://voiceoversandvocals.com/tips-for-sounding-your-best-as-a-podcast-guest/Get my Top Five Tips for Implementing an Intentional Audio Strategyhttps://voiceoversandvocals.com/audio-branding-strategy/Editing/Production by Humberto Franco - https://humbertofranco.com/This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: OP3 - https://op3.dev/privacy

We talk about identity, creativity, community, and why so many assumptions about furries simply aren't true.Because there's a lot to unpack, I also recorded a second interview (linked in the show notes) with Rune, a self-described “Scalie” — a member of the furry fandom whose character is reptilian. In that conversation, we explore the more adult side of the community and how it differs from mainstream furry culture. If you've ever Googled “what is a furry?” or wondered what really happens inside the furry community, this episode offers a thoughtful and open-minded look at a world that's often judged before it's understood. As always, go in curious.

Eleanor Barraclough offers a poignant look at the Norse settlement of Greenland, founded by Eric the Red in 985 AD. At the Herjolfsness graveyard, well-preserved organic material reveals the coarse, patched clothing of 15th-century inhabitants, indicating their isolation and decline. As the climate cooled, the Norse struggled while the Inuit thrived, with the final records including a witch burning in 1407 and a wedding in 1408 — the last known activities before the colony vanished. Baseball's back for the summer of 2026 and what better way to get in the mood than to take a look at one of the most electrifying sports stories of all time...the 1998 Major League Baseball Home Run Record Chase. This epic chase to break the hollowed home run record started off with 2 known power houses , Ken Griffey Jr. and Mark McGwire chasing Roger Maris' hollowed record the previous 4 seasons .These previous outings  injected excitement back in to the sport after the catastrophic MLB strike of 1994 that cut off Griffey's record pace by 50 games and saw the cancelation of the World Series.  Fans tuned out in droves  and baseball's favor was at an all time low. Then by June of 1998 a little known Sammy Sosa threw his cap in to the race to make it a 3 man race to 62 HR's by season end. Griffey would cool down ("only" hitting 56 homers ) but Big Mac and Sammy would go neck and neck and surpass the record at 70 and 66 HR's by seasons end in dramatic exciting fashion. Lorelai is busy doing literally anything else. Saturday morning is here and they go to Luke's for breakfast. Rachel is still there and shows Lorelai some pictures she took around town, including a picture of her and Luke at the Firelight Festival. But Lorelai is more taken aback by this abandoned house that she took a picture of. She immediately thinks it might be the perfect inn. When Lorelai gets to work, she's shocked to find Rune is there. You remember Rune - Jackson's cousin. Sookie asks Lorelai for a favor - give Rune a job and let him stay at the inn so he can get out of Jackson's place. She reluctantly agrees. Emily shows up in Stars Hollow and they go on their way. They're having a great time until Rory shows her the little shack that she grew up in and Emily storms out. Lorelai goes to check out the inn in the pictures with Rachel. It's perfect. So she starts hanging out with Rachel more. Luke tells Lorelai to not get attached. She always leaves. Lorelai is like I think she wants to stay this time. Luke is like you don't know what you're talking about. That night, Lorelai and Rory see Luke and Rachel at the movies, so I guess he listened to her. At Friday night dinner, Emily is excited to show Rory that she's remodeled a room to be all hers - full of boy band posters and Cosmo magazines. Lorelai is confused and after Rory walks out, Emily and her get into an argument about how Lorelai wanted to be anywhere but with them after Rory was born including a worn down shack. They go to Luke's afterwards and Rachel tells Lorelai the big news - Luke has given her a drawer. Watch the show on Youtube - www.deckthehallmark.com/youtubeInterested in advertising on the show? In this episode of Tacos & Tech, Neal Bloom sits down with Peter Goldsborough, co-founder and CTO of Rune, to unpack one of the most overlooked but decisive factors in modern warfare: logistics.Peter shares how his background in software and defense tech led him to a simple realization-while billions have been spent on weapons and command systems, military logistics still runs on spreadsheets, whiteboards, and paper. The conversation explores why future conflicts will be won or lost on decision speed, not firepower, and how Rune is turning logistics into a real-time, data-driven decision system used by the Army and Marines today. This episode dives into defense innovation, software in degraded environments, and why fixing logistics isn't just a military problem-it's a cognitive one.Key Topics* Why logistics decides wars* The problem with spreadsheets and whiteboards in the DoD* Turning logistics into a real-time decision system* Defense tech speed vs legacy procurement* Software for disconnected and high-stress environments* Lessons from Ukraine and the Pacific theater* When logistics becomes the bottleneck* Building resilient software for the physical worldLinks* Rune Connect on LinkedIn* Peter Goldsborough* Neal Bloom This is a public episode. She asks Rory to ask Dean if he could talk to Todd and maybe they could double date! Lorelai is trying to work and study for business school, and Michel comes over and is like we're overbooked! HOW DOES THAT HAPPEN?! She might find out in business school. Lorelai is talking to Sookie when Jackson comes in and the tension is weird. Sookie asked Jackson out to dinner but now it's been weeks, and still no dinner. Lorelai encourages her to talk to him about it! Rory is kissing Dean and she decides now is the time to talk to him about a potential double date with Todd. He is like well whatever gets me back to kissing you, sure let's double date. Sookie tells Lorelai the good news - the date with Jackson is on. The bad news is he wants it to be a double date with Lorelai and Jackson's cousin. She's not thrilled but anything for Sookie. It's date night! Rory and Lane decide not to tell their moms about this double date thing and off they go. When Jackson and his cousin Rune show up, Rune pulls Jackson aside and is horrified to see that Lorelai is tall. Naturally, she hears all of this making her even less excited for the double date. But he's terrible to Lorelai – he asks her shoe size, won't look at her, won't make conversation. At the other double date, Lane is trying to have a good time with Todd but Todd has just nothing going on in that noggin. Lorelai and the gang end up at Luke's. Lorelai tells Luke that her "date" thinks she's too tall. Luke can't believe there's anyone in the world that doesn't think that Lorelai walks on water. Rune ends up leaving which finally gives Luke and Lorelai time to hang out and have some fun, just the two of them. But it doesn't last long when Lane's mother sees Lorelai in the diner and storms in because she was under the impression that Rory and Lane were with Lorelai tonight. They find Rory & Lane. Busted. Lane is grounded, big time. Lorelai attempts to talk to Mrs. Kim but it doesn't go well. But Lorelai's little talk actually seems to have some effect and Lane is allowed to go out in the front yard and use the phone. Big progress. Lorelai is running the town rummage sale & Luke drops off some stuff, including a bag of clothes because HE LOVES HERRRRRRR. Sookie runs in holding 4 amazing tickets to The Bangles. Everyone is PUMPED! At Luke's, Rory teases Luke about having a rummage sale sign in the diner window because HE LOVES HERRRR. But when Lorelai comes in, Luke freaks out on her because she's wearing a jacket that was in the bag he donated. He demands she take it off. Sookie explains to her that the ugly jacket used to belong to Luke's ex-girlfriend, Rachel. She broke his heart because she wanted to move to the big city and Luke refused to leave Stars Hollow. Paris and the other two speaking girls at Chilton show up to work on a project. When Lorelai hears that Rory is seemingly having an ok time with these girls, she decides to invite them to go to the Bangles concert with Rory, because friendship. So they all go, they're having a great time, but the two girls not named Rory or Paris leave with boys. When Lorelai finds out, she's not thrilled. They track 'em down and make them leave. Paris loves it and loves Lorelai. Paris has issues. The episode ends in Stars Hollow at the rummage sale and Lorelai gives Luke the jacket back and they make up. Just kiss already. In this week's episode, we're joined by Nordic witch, rune reader, and author of Queering the Runes, Siri Vincent Plouff, for a deep and delightfully bird-filled dive into runic magic. Siri shares the wild origin story of being claimed by Odin via the infamous “Minneapolis Murder” of crows, how that encounter led them into Heathenry, and what it really means to build a relationship with the runes as living spirits. We unpack common misconceptions about Norse culture, hint it is more than just Viking bros and dreads, the impact of Christianization on the myths, and how Hollywood has flattened an incredibly rich and complex spiritual history. Most importantly, we explore what it means to queer the runes, both as an identity and as a verb. Siri breaks down gender fluidity and performance in Old Norse mythology, Loki's shapeshifting chaos, Odin's relationship to feminine magic, and how queering spiritual systems helps us break out of rigid, heteronormative frameworks. We also talk about ethical rune practice, avoiding white supremacist co-optation, and simple low spoon ways to incorporate runes into daily life, including body poses, pocket magic, and protection work. Whether you're rune curious or already in deep, this conversation will expand your understanding of Nordic magic and maybe even your definition of tradition itself.Find more about Siri below:WebsitePatreonHeathen's Journey PodcastChaos and Cunning PodcastBlueSkyInstagramTikTokRegister for the Queering the Runes courseOrder Molly's book Mundane Magic A Lazy Witch's Guide to Hacking Your Brain, Building a Daily Practice, and Getting Stuff DoneJoin our Patreon for bonus episodes, magical downloads, and unhinged side quests: https://www.patreon.com/demystifymagic

William Layden is Co-founder and CEO at Rune, a company building modular, behind-the-meter micro data centers that plug directly into solar and wind plants. These units operate on a fully electric, DC-to-DC architecture—bypassing the traditional grid and unlocking new economics for compute at renewable energy sites. In this episode of Inevitable, Layden explains how solar clipping and curtailment leave vast amounts of clean power stranded—and how Rune's “RELIC” units turn that waste into usable compute. The conversation dives into DC architecture, Bitcoin as a beachhead market, and why traditional data centers are ill-suited to an era of distributed energy. Layden also unpacks why modular infrastructure may be the fastest path to deploying AI-scale compute at the edge of the energy transition.Episode recorded on Jan 27, 2026 (Published on Feb 17, 2026)In this episode we cover: (0:00) Intro(3:19) An overview of Rune(7:15) How energy flows and gets los in today's power stack(10:50) Clipping: the hidden inefficiency in solar(14:17) Curtailment: why the grid rejects clean energy(20:47) Starting with Bitcoin before scaling to AI workloads(25:50) Which compute loads can run interruptibly(27:26) Rune's business model and value to power producers(33:16) Where Rune operates and who's backing it(36:10) Why modular, DC-native design matters for scaleLinks:William Layden on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/william-laydenRune: https://www.rune.energy/ Enjoyed this episode?
