Les, Kurt, and Jason have lots to share as Les and Jason ran into each other last night! But more importantly, Les saw the one and only Eric Roberts outside of his chiropractors office, AND Les was on stage in Blac Chyna's clubhouse. Les may have been too afraid to ask Eric Roberts to be on this podcast because of his “resting I will f** you up face,” but he just might possibly have discovered that they live in the same neighborhood! After Kurt manages to turn his Blac Chyna news about Tyga and Trans women into a (perfect) excuse to reference the 80's band Men Without Hats (repeatedly), the guys turn their attention this week's Lifetime movie, “College Professor Obsession.” The movie is part College Admissions Scandal and part Eyes Wide Shut (or so Les thinks, Kurt disagrees), but Jason can't get past the gaping plot hole that the death that happened on this campus just one week earlier would have been a rather big story to family living just 30 miles away sending their daughter to the same school. The old adage, “don't focus on plot, just focus on discussing Adrian Zmed” has never been more true as the movie serves up classic Lifetime gaslighting from a cult leader with a potbelly and a flat ass and a couple of young women pretty much asking to be pushed off a ledge. Nobody's getting a good education at this school, but they'll get help from Where There's a Will, There's an A.   Facebook : alifetimeofhallmark Instagram : lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast Theme song generously donated by purple-planet.com

Kurt gets some great news, so Les and Jason decide that Kurt shouldn't have to watch this week's dud of a movie, Hallmark's Love at the Ranch. After Kurt's Blac Chyna Report (and the reveal that Jason was offered Hallmark-branded wine), Les and Jason recount the movie that may be the least-enjoyable one ever endured for this podcast. Brimming with Gaslight Condescension, the movie features a boss that makes June Cleaver look like Miranda Priestly, a typing montage, and organic vegetables. In other words, even the possibility that these people may all be living on a commune and don't know it can't elevate this old-guard Hallmark movie enough to make us care about the full circle path of an orchid.    Facebook : alifetimeofhallmark Instagram : lifetimeofhallmarkpodcast Theme song generously donated by purple-planet.com

'LEGO Masters': Behind the scenes with Boone Langston

Boone Langston is an accomplished LEGO builder from the Portland, Ore., area who shares his creations with the world at BooneBuilds.com and on his Boone Builds YouTube channel. He also runs a virtual Boone's Build Camp for kids and adults. After working as an IT support specialist and videographer early in his career, he became a fan favorite in 2020 as one half of the team Mark and Boone, a.k.a. the "Bearded Builders," on the first season of the FOX TV show LEGO Masters, in which teams of two compete by building spectacular LEGO creations. He was also known for his impromptu singing, belting out his signature refrain, "Here We Go, We're Building With Bricks Now!" in true rock-star style, to the delight of LEGO Masters host Will Arnett. Much to the dismay of their shocked fans, Mark and Boone did not win their season of the show, as judges Amy Corbett and Jamie Berard gave the nod to newlyweds Tyler and Amy, who had announced earlier in the season that they were expecting a child. My colleague Kurt Schlosser captured the ensuing controversy perfectly in his headline at the time: Oh, baby, ‘LEGO Masters' finale lands like a brick on outraged fans who dispute choice of winner. My family was among those surprised and disappointed by the outcome. As fellow Pacific Northwesterners, we cheered for Mark and Boone throughout the season, and everyone in our living room considered their “Artopia” project in the finale objectively superior. That sentiment was not shared by Tim Ellis, an electrical engineer by training, Redfin employee by day, and host of the podcast Dispatches from the Multiverse, who writes occasionally for GeekWire about games and other topics. After Kurt and I talked about the outcome on the GeekWire Podcast at the time, Tim started a lively debate with the two of us over text. “Tyler & Amy totally deserved the win, and if anything Mark & Boone should have been in third place behind Sam & Jessica's peacock!” Tim texted us at the time, referring to the third-place finishers. “You should only do a recap podcast of Season 2 if you let me join for some much-needed balance.

Teaching the Gospel Virtually | An Interview with DeAnna Murphy

Popular guest DeAnna Murphy serves as the Chief Organizational Development Officer at People Acuity, The Interdependent Leadership Company based in the Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area. Her experience leading organizational leadership efforts worldwide informs her advice for leadership and teaching in the Church. Highlights 5:56 How do you teach in the Savior’s way to achieve dynamic, impactful, transformational virtual instruction? 7:06 She notices some Church leaders struggling with virtual classrooms and wanting to be able to accelerate people’s ability to create authentic connection with others, feel the Spirit, and counsel together in the same way as if they were in person. Many people are intimidated by virtual environments, but they can have positive experiences virtually to help others to feel the Spirit and feel the Savior’s love. There’s a very brief and simple way to approach lessons or talks in a way that invites others to participate in counseling together to experience the same gifts as if we were live. [Notice both DeAnna’s method as well as the content as she models teaching and leading in the following.] 8:15 If you are open to it, let’s start with a scripture together. Doctrine and Covenants 43:8-10 has some really important direction to give us that I believe can help us while we’re learning how to teach and operate in a virtual environment. Let’s take on this together. Listen for the promises that come and what it is that’ required of us. Then we’ll talk about the terms the Savior uses there and what that means for us in a virtual environment. After Kurt reads it, Deanna continues: Let’s just pause for a second and let me ask you as we are in a virtual environment, what words jump off the page to you when you read those verses. Kurt: Sanctified--we want people to have a personal, changing experience during a church interaction. Then, “you shall bind yourselves” is a unifying factor: we grow or bind closer together through that instruction. DeAnna: Wow. I’m just listening to how you’ve come to the essence. I’m noticing in our day, what’s important about 1) being sanctified and 2) being bound together at this time of division and tearing down? Kurt: With tribalism and separating that is happening via technology and social media, we need the blessing of the function in our church of geographic wards that come together regardless of economic status or background. It’s an opportunity to unify despite the disunity perpetuated online and in the chaos of the world. DeAnna: I’m loving what you are describing at a time when we are feeling more disconnected and pulled apart. The Lord has given us a promise that when we come together to instruct and edify each other, that our hearts will be bound together. I also love that you chose the word sanctified because these two promises are keys to a Zion society: that we become sanctified, holy, and pure, and we are bound together with others who also are. 12:20 I would love you to notice, too, that one of the other gifts is we are promised to know how to act. I was in Minneapolis when the rioting happened and things were going crazy. We literally were experiencing martial law with 700 buildings burning to the ground. We didn’t know how to act--it was coming to our neighborhood. THere’s something about us counseling together in a virtual setting that gives us increased ability to know how to act. And notice as we are starting today, we are doing what we are inviting others to do. Each person in a virtual environment sees something. I had a conversation with a client earlier today who said she had heard feedback from her team: they got a better experience from the virtual gathering than they did live because everyone had a voice. Isn’t that interesting that in a day when so many are marginalized, some who don’t think they are good enough, a virtual environment ensures that all voices are in.

How Kurt, went from a $1300/month cold calling... While working as a construction worker... To $7000/month as a real business owner. All this in less than 60 days. “Want to connect on Facebook? Add me on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/aleksander.vitkin Kurt is running an explainer video agency helping other companies explain what they do. Kurt’s life before he joined Daily Business Hustle was very hard. He had to wake up at 5AM to go to work and get back at 3PM completely exhausted. After getting back from work, he was cold calling companies, trying to close them to make some money. He hated every second of his life at that time. Kurt is a member of DBH for 2 months and he has learned so much during that time. Daily Business Hustle teaches everything you need to know about business step by step. Kurt learned: • How to do sales properly. • How to outsource the work. • How to communicate with people. • How to automate the business. Kurt had sales experience when he joined DBH, so skipped the beginner funnel and moved to the advanced ones immediately. After Kurt made his first $7000 a month in his business, he immediately quit his day job where he was working as a constructor worker. He has a lot of freedom that he can use to do whatever he wants like travel around the world while running a business. Stop looking for the easy solution. Stop looking for people to give you handouts, stop failing. Join a mastermind where you can learn from people who are a few months ahead of you. Kurt has been a member of another mastermind where he was coached by people who are very far ahead of him and they were not helpful at all. They are not there all the time with you to tell what you are doing wrong and what you are doing right. That is why it is much better to be coached by someone who a little bit ahead of you in business. Kurt is looking to grow his business even more. Once he makes this business fully automated and running, he may want to start a second business in the future. You can learn so much while working with very successful companies that you may want to go into their space sometime. That is one of the main benefits of running an agency. Anyone can be in business. If you are lazy, you have to reframe your thinking and forget all get rich quick schemes. There is a giant awakening from people realizing that they can disconnect from this matrix and build a real business. The possibilities in business are really endless and in today’s world with Internet access and the fact that you can talk to anyone no matter where you are in the world is mind blowing. We must take advantage of that.
