Dr Clark finishes the series, "The Comfort of the Covenant." This series will show us the value of having a good covenant theology in order to help us understand the history of redemption correctly and well. And, more particularly, to help understand the gospel and how the gospel relates to the covenant of grace. In this episode, Dr. Clark continues discussing A Firm Foundation: An Aid to Interpreting the Heidelberg Catechism by Caspar Olevianus and considers Olevianus' discussion of our final standing before God. In this 6th installment in our Melchizedek series, we discuss the concept of a royal priesthood as originally intended by Yah in Exodus 19. We focus on the importance of obedience to Yah's covenant for the establishment of this priesthood as well as we cover: Yah's Intent for a Priesthood: Yah intended for a royal priesthood among His people, as stated in Exodus 19, where He called Israel to be a kingdom of priests.   Melchizedek's Role: The figure of Melchizedek represents a royal priest, combining the roles of king and priest, predating the Levitical priesthood. Levitical Priesthood Establishment: The Levitical priesthood was established after Israel broke the covenant by worshiping the Golden Calf, restricting priestly duties to the tribe of Levi.   Covenant with Yah: The covenant was ratified at Mount Sinai, where Israel accepted Yah's terms, which included becoming a set-apart nation if they obeyed His laws.   Golden Calf Incident: The Golden Calf incident illustrates Israel's failure to remain faithful to Yah, leading to the establishment of the Levitical priesthood as a response to their unfaithfulness.   Yah's Expectations: Yah requires His people to guard His covenant to achieve the royal priesthood status; without obedience, this status cannot be realized.   Priestly Functions: The document discusses the priestly functions of educating others in Yah's Torah and modeling righteous behavior, which are central to fulfilling the role of a priest. Future Fulfillment: The original vision for a royal priesthood will ultimately be fulfilled through the ministry of Yeshua, who represents the Melchizedekian priesthood.

He was ninety-nine years old. His wife, nearly ninety. God's promise of descendants, a great nation, a covenant forever, must have still seemed impossible to Abram and Sarai. Then, the Lord appeared. Not with vague reassurance, but with clarity, power, and a new name. Abram became Abraham. Sarai became Sarah. And the sign of circumcision marked a covenant that would shape generations.  The Rev. Ryan Kleimola, pastor Trinity Lutheran Church in Toledo, OH, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Genesis 17.  Genesis isn't just the start of the Bible; it's the foundation of everything. Creation, sin, judgment, grace, covenant, and promise all take root in this remarkable book. The stories are ancient, but their truths are eternal. In this new series from Thy Strong Word, Pastor Phil Booe and his guests walk verse by verse through Genesis, exploring how God reveals Himself as Creator, Judge, and Redeemer. From the grandeur of the cosmos to the struggles of ordinary families, Genesis introduces us to a God who speaks, acts, and keeps His promises. So, whether you've read it a hundred times or are just now cracking it open for a serious look, this series will help you see Genesis with fresh eyes—and a deeper faith. Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations. The Messenger of the {New} Covenant {Jesus} Is Coming – Is He Coming to Purify You or to Judge You? MESSAGE SUMMARY: The people, in God's Judgment articulated in Malachi 3:5, are the people of God. These people are not the unbelievers; these are the people that say they are following God. Malachi 3:5, articulates those transgressions, including the absence of a “fear of the lord”, in which God: “will draw near to you for judgment. I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those who oppress the hired worker in his wages, the widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the LORD of hosts.” To this end, Paul reminds us again in Romans 2:4-5 of a pathway to or away from God's Judgment: “Or do you presume on the riches of his kindness and forbearance and patience, not knowing that God's kindness is meant to lead you to repentance? But because of your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God's righteous judgment will be revealed.". Additionally, in Proverbs 1:7 we find that the “fear of the Lord” provides us with “wisdom”. On the other hand and in the absence of our “fear of the Lord”, Proverbs 1:7 tells us that we are “foolish”: “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.”. The messenger of the Covenant is coming – He is coming to either purify you or to judge you.   TODAY'S PRAYER: Father, I confess that when difficulties and trials come into my life, large or small, I mostly grumble and complain. I realize the trials James talks about are not necessarily “walls,” but they are difficult to bear, nonetheless. Fill me with such a vision of a transformed life, O God, that I might actually consider it “pure joy” when you bring trials my way. I believe, Lord. Help my unbelief. Recently, the Church History Museum unveiled 150 works of art as part of its exhibition for the 13th International Art Competition. These pieces were chosen from nearly 600 artworks submitted by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around the world. The theme for this year’s contest explores the gospel invitation to “Lift Up the Hands Which Hang Down,” which comes from Doctrine and Covenants 81:5. On this episode of the Church News podcast, Church News editor Ryan Jensen talks with artists and individuals responsible for the exhibition and its rich body of work. The exhibit and online gallery showcase artists from more than two dozen countries and highlight some of the many ways Latter-day Saints testify of Jesus Christ and His call to lift and serve. The Church News Podcast is a weekly podcast that invites listeners to make a journey of connection with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints across the globe. Hosts Jon Ryan Jensen, editor of the Church News, and Church News reporter Mary Richards share unique views of the stories, events, and people who form this international faith. With each episode, listeners are asked to embark on a journey to learn from one another and ponder, “What do I know now?” because of the experience. Produced by KellieAnn Halvorsen.

Welcome to Day 2624 of Wisdom-Trek. Thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom Day 2624 – New Testament Orientation – The Story of the New Testament Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps! I am Guthrie Chamberlain, and we are on Day 2624 of our trek. The purpose of Wisdom-Trek is to create a legacy of wisdom, to seek out discernment and insights, and to boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Each Tuesday, I will share the messages I have delivered at Putnam Congregational Church this year. This is the second of twelve messages covering a New Testament Orientation. Today's messages are titled The Story of the New Testament. I pray it will be a conduit for learning and encouragement for you. Putnam Church Message – 05/04/2025 Sermon Series: New Testament Orientation Message 2: The Story of the New Testament   Last week, we discussed What is the New Testament and concluded that it is the collection of inspired writings in the common tongue, shared among us, and carrying divine authority. Today, we delve into the very heart of the story these writings tell in a message, ‘The Story of the New Testament,' with Romans 5:8-11 as our core verses. Let's read those verses to set the stage for our story today. 8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made right in God's sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God's condemnation. 10 For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. 11 So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God. Since this is the story of the New Testament, I will present it as a dramatic reading. Let's picture ourselves living towards the end of the first century, and I am a Rabbi who is a believer in Yeshua. I will tell you where this story is heading, because knowing the destination helps us make sense of the journey. (Blanket) It's like looking at a woven tapestry – up close, you see individual threads, but when you step back, you see the magnificent pattern emerging. That pattern, that big story, is what gives meaning to all the individual threads. Let us begin with prayer, asking the God of the Story to open our ears and hearts to hear it truly. Opening Prayer: Eternal God, the God of Creation, the God of the Covenant, the God of our fathers! You are the Author of life, the Weaver of history, the Master Storyteller. From the beginning, You have been revealing Yourself to us; through the cosmos, You spread out like a tent, Through the whispers of the wind and the mighty roar of the sea, And most especially, through Your dealings with humanity, with our people Israel. As we explore this New Testament story, Challenge our assumptions, deepen our faith, and transform our lives. May we find our place within this divine drama, and live as loyal participants in Your unfolding plan. We ask all this in the name of Yeshua, the one who is the beginning and the end of this chapter, and the hope of the...

Abram stared upward, into the endless expanse of the night sky. He was still childless and feeling the weight of doubt pressing harder than ever. Had God forgotten him? Had the promise slipped away? And then, in the darkness, the voice returned—not with rebuke, but reassurance: “Fear not, Abram. I am your shield; your reward shall be very great.” Abram believed, and God counted it to him as righteousness.   The Rev. Nate Hill, pastor of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Winchester, TX, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Genesis 15. The best is yet to come because the Lord is hastening His work. The best is yet to come as we fully turn our hearts and our lives to Jesus Christ.” Yet this best time, this transcendent event also has harrowing events that precede it as we talk about in this episode studying Doctrine and Covenants 45.
