Extrait : « … We also explore the allure of "9 Caronas" and discuss the remarkable range of Faith No More. Today's fascinating episode features Ivan Doroschuk from new wave, synth-pop band, Men Without Hats. The group formed in Montreal back in 1977, during the height of punk and Ivan talks about some of the punk bands he saw live, along with acts that came a few years before then, groups like Pink Floyd and Roxy Music. The group went on to support Roxy on their Avalon tour world tour in 1982. Ivan also talks openly about fame and the enormous success the band achieved following the release of ‘The Safely Dance', his earliest influences and musical passions. Touring and how he keeps his voice in shape, and discusses the story behind one of my favourite synth-pop tracks of all-time, ‘Antartica' Men Without Hats - Safety Dance (Offical Video) Men Without Hats - Antartica Men Without Hats - The Message
Music can heal, music can be healing. Ken Presse (that's Press-ay) knows this and incorporates these and related themes into his much-anticipated, powerful Sophomore LP Someday. From the poignant Losing Sleep to the folk-country anthem Like Hell I Do, Presse tells a story with his words, no matter the style. We chat about process, writing in two languages (that's English and French), mental health, fatherhood, and what it means to be an artist. Ken also talks about opening for Men Without Hats. And of course, what would a trip back to the 80s be without doing the Safety Dance with Men Without Hats? As if that weren't enough to overload your Walkman, the guys dive into a totally mental discussion about the lyrics of some classic songs that'll have you saying, "Gag me with a spoon!" Ivan Doroschuk in conversation with David Eastaugh https://www.safetydance.com/ Men Without Hats are a Canadian new wave and synth-pop band, originally from Montreal, Quebec. Their music is characterized by the voice of their lead singer Ivan Doroschuk, as well as their elaborate use of synthesizers and electronic processing. They achieved their greatest popularity in the 1980s with "The Safety Dance", a worldwide top ten hit (No. 3 in the United States), and "Pop Goes the World". After a hiatus for most of the 1990s and 2000s, Doroschuk reformed the band in 2010, and released Love in the Age of War (2012). The group, based in Vancouver, has continued to perform, including tour dates announced in support of the release of two studio albums, Men Without Hats Again (Parts 1 & 2), in 2021 and 2022 respectively.
