A mini-episode to let people know about our Discord server, which is basically a website where listeners to the show can hang out. It's a bit like the old-school chat boards with different pages for different subjects, but way more high-tech with things like video embedding and voice-chat channels to supplement your keyboard. Being a closed page where we know people's identities, it's a bit more safe and chilled out than public-facing social media. If you want somewhere to chat to people during cricket matches, for instance, without the Wild West elements, listen in for tips from Discord expert Anna Forsyth on what it's about and how to access it. The Vancouver Canucks are a week into their 2021 NHL season, and host Matt Lee already believes the team is in "must-win" territory. Thankfully the sage minds of Anna Forsyth & Chris Golden are there to put those ideas to bed. That said, the crew breaks down all that is not going well for the team and what they think might be able to help turn things around. And as they wrap-up the show, they finally have an "F Word" suitable for "F Word." Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
All roads lead back to the 1909 Ashes on Story Time of late, and why wouldn’t we want to visit again via Charlie McCartney’s tweak? That man is still firing 12 years later, a series that included a Dusty Old Bastard with a tough old name. Also featured: Curtly, Finny and a cheesemonger from Baltimore. Stick around to hear from one of our Final Word faves, Vic Marks. His Calling the Shots contribution focused on ins and outs of Test Match Special, the most famous comm box cricket has known. It's our new show! Or, same show, new name. STORY TIME will be the weekend wander through the weeds, where we get into some of the more obscure and less obscure corners of cricket history to find the stories therein. This weekend, boxers and communists who were not jazz saxophonists, what really happened on Adam's 21st birthday, more info on which cricketers have punched selectors, and plenty more. Our encore interview this week is with Barney Douglas, director of brilliant cricket documentary The Edge, which is on the BBC iPlayer right now if you want to watch it, and Felix White of the Maccabees who wrote the musical score. You know when you think you're hot stuff and you just post your podcast and think it's no big deal? Yup, Ryan screwed up. Thanks for checking out this week's PP1 Podcast with special guest Anna Forsyth from C4 Podcast, it's a big deal. We get into Hub Cities, What we'd have in our Hub City, Cricket talk, and more. The Players Choice Sportscards and Collectibles Dudes and Guys was a douzy but we pitted Erik Gudbranson against Luca Sbisa and it went all kinds of weird. Nikita Tryamkin is brought up again, the cool COVID rings are a thing and somehow we still talk more about Erik Gudbranson. Make sure to vote for us in Best of Kelowna and also Rate, Review, and Subscribe. WE DON'T EVEN CHARGE FOR THAT! @ThePP1Podcast, @bkursel23, @tee3ree, @always90four
The Canucks are having a solid preseason, goals are coming from all sorts of sources, Adam Gaudette is well on his way to making the team, and Matt Lee is becoming a believer! Joining Matt in the believer department is Anna Forsyth as the two take a look at what we've seen so far and setup what could be an exciting start to the NHL regular season.
Since the last episode, the Vancouver Canucks signed Michael Ferland and still have Loui Eriksson on the roster. Meanwhile the Edmonton Oilers sent Milan Lucic to the Calgary Flames for James Neal. This means Matt Lee & Anna Forsyth will have lots to say. They also assess the Canucks moves as the off-season is nearly half over and wonder if they happen to be a playoff team in 2020.
Is Lucic for Ericksson realistic? How valuable would both Nikita Zaistev and Nikita Tyramkin be to the Canucks? How to acquire Jason Zucker without giving up Brock Boeser.Peyton Krebs and early theories on Canucks 10th pick.Anna Forsyth from the C4 Canucks Podcast joins Sean, Tyler, and I to talk hockey on Agree or Disagree:The Podcast-Hockey Edition.Follow Anna:@AnnaForsyth and @TheC4PodcastFollow Sean:@beardycanuck03Follow Tyler:@tnobleFollow me:@kevole
