The Calgary Flames complete another come from behind win against the Dallas Stars. Nazem Kadri sealed the deal with an overtime goal a little over a minute into extra hockey. It was a competitive effort at both ends of the ice. There was a spark in players like Noah Hanifin and Jonathan Huberdeau that we haven't quite seen this season. The Flames played a great game against one of the best teams in the league but that does not erase the elephant in the room. The Flames still need to trade the remaining UFAs. Chris Tanev is probably the only one I'm extending for a year at most.Players like Elias Lindholm and Dan Vladar will bring home assets but what about Noah Hanifin who has been somewhat of a defensive liability but putting up those counting stats? Just how important are these next few months ahead of the deadline? Is Craig Conroy capable of pulling it off and pulling it off correctly? It's Friday which means it's time for winners and losers of the week!!! Oliver Kylington is back on the ice after his absence from training camp and the start of the regular season. There is no timetable for his return but it is certainly something to be optimistic about. How about that DeauxMoi, huh? The Dallas Stars fall to the Calgary Flames by a final score of 4-3 in overtime last night. Mason Marchment scored twice including a penalty shot goal, Joe Pavelski extended his point streak to eight games, and Thomas Harley scored his fourth goal of the season but the Stars came up short. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey expresses how the game really never felt in hand for the Stars even when they had the lead as they we're playing not to lose. The Flames exposed a lot of the Stars weaknesses in the season series and none more glaring than the defense. It did not help the cause with uncharacteristic plays from Miro Heiskanen, Nils Lundkvist and others, but thats what it is. Dallas was not able to create enough offense in the 2nd half of the game trying to hang on to a one goal lead while Calgary was throwing everything at Scott Wedgewood who played well. The bright spot of Mason Marchment having a bounce back season was the highlight for the Stars, it was his first multi goal night since opening night of last season in Nashville, and the first penalty shot goal for the Stars since 2019. If this is the version the Stars will get on most nights, they will be in good hands. Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19 Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

The Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks are calling for players like Nikita Zadorov and Chris Tanev. Craig Conroy is still not in a rush because the Calgary Flames are winning. Mark Giordano is expected to miss some time after suffering an injury earlier this week. The Flames have wasted enough time trying to decide which direction to go. They're one blocked shot away from losing Tanev for the season. Zadorov's play has weakened since requesting a trade. Ship him off to Toronto. Yegor Sharangovich has made quite an impression on his teammates. What do they have to say about the former New Jersey Devil? Jess wraps up the show with her three players to watch in the upcoming game against the Dallas Stars. It's already been established that Nikita Zadorov already wants out of the Calgary Flames organization, and Chris Tanev might not be far behind him. It's been rumored that many teams have inquired about the services of the Flames' alternate captain. He's in the final year of his contract and the New Jersey Devils need more defensive depth. Dougie Hamilton might miss the next game due to an upper-body injury, and Samuel Laberge has been called up from Utica. Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

Jake Oettinger makes 27 saves and the Dallas Stars shutout the Winnipeg Jets as the Stars are now 8-1-1 on the road, which is the best 10 game start in franchise history. On today's episode of Locked On Stars, Joey breaks down what he thinks is the best defensive performance for the Stars this season. He discusses what helped shutdown the Jets offense and how they were able to keep them from sustaining zone time and creating chances. The Stars D core of Thomas Harley, Esa Lindell and Jani Hakanpaa had big nights for Dallas especially on the penalty kill. The PK was 4/4 on the night and had to kill two long stretches on 5 on 3 time which was very impressive, a combination of not allowing the Jets to get interior and great goaltending from Oettinger in his first shutout of the season. Joey praises the forwards groups of well and individuals such as Joe Pavelski who scored his 10th goal of the season and extended his point streak to seven games. Tyler Seguin scored his 7th off a great pass from Mason Marchment. Roope Hintz, Jason Robertson and Matt Duchene all picked up assists on the two goals. The Stars needed to tighten up defensivly after allowing over five goals per game during their home stand and this is a great step in the right direction. The Stars take on the Calgary Flames tomorrow night. Follow Joey on Twitter: twitter.com/joeythejet19 Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…

Today, Jess Belmosto and Nick Zararis chat about the Chicago Blackhawks terminating Corey Perry's contract. There are so many reasons why you can't take things at face value but also why you shouldn't take every tweet at face value either. There are a handful of pending UFAs dominating CapFriendly's Armchair GM. What would it take to get Dan Vladar to the Edmonton Oilers? The Toronto Maple Leafs are not sending a first round pick and prospects for Nikita Zadorov. Jonathan Huberdeau's salary half retained for who? Jess and Nick approve, laugh at and move on from a number of these trades. Mackenzie Weegar is even tossed in there. The pair wrap up the show with some thoughts on the current state of the Calgary Flames. They've finally reached a wild card spot but is this enough to settle for? At the end of the day, it comes down to the players. If they're feeling good they play good. The Calgary Flames have yet to reach .500. They got within reach after a win against the Dallas Stars but fell short against the Colorado Avalanche. The powerplay continues to be an issue as the Flames while Andrew Mangiapane is starting to look like his old self. There are still easily fixable mistakes taking place that are ultimately leading the Flames to losses. Join Jess Belmosto as she goes over the highs and lows of the last two games. Nikita "Best defenseman on the team" Zadorov's play is not doing him any favors on that trade request. Yegor Sharangovich is earning some brownie points with his recent success. He has racked up 5 points in the last 5 games. The red hot Vegas Golden Knights are in town and the Flames have their work cut out for them. Jess wraps up the show with her players to watch. Samuel Girard missed a couple games recently which we were told was for "personal reasons". We now know what those reasons were. Girard released a statement saying he was putting himself into the players assistance program, admitting he has a problem with anxiety and depression as well as alcohol use. This has us asking the question, how much of what is said about Sammy G online is to blame? We also discuss the Avalanche on the ice, which has looked pretty good recently, including the back to back victories against the Minnesota Wild and Calgary Flames in the team's first back to backs of the year. On today's edition of The DFO Rundown, Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli went around the league and hit on all the big headlines from the weekend. Nothing was bigger than the news that Corey Perry will be away from the Chicago Blackhawks. With no solid info on the situation, there has been a lot of speculation about what's going on. Frank gave us an update and talked about why the Hawks are being extra cautious. That led to some talk about Connor Bedard's recent play and some other stories from the weekend. The Minnesota Wild are still sputtering along and now sit below the Edmonton Oilers in the Western Conference playoff picture. Will the Wild make a coaching change? Frank doesn't think so.Gregor talked about how incredibly average the West is looking right now and how easy it might be for one of Edmonton or Minnesota to sneak back into a playoff spot.Another team that's looking to stay in the hunt is the Calgary Flames. If the Flames stay close to a playoff spot, should GM Craig Conroy hold onto some of his players on expiring contracts? Frank and Jason debated that. That also brought the guys to talk about the market for defensemen around the league and who's interested in adding a blueliner. Frank also gave an update on the Patrick Kane sweepstakes.Tyler then popped in for a new edition of Buy or Sell and the guys gave out their Crown Royal Generous Guy's of the week.1:55 - The latest with Perry6:30 - The struggling Wild & the West22:30 - Can the Flames compete?25:30 - The market for defensemen34:00 - Patrick Kane update36:00 - Crown Royal Generous Guy48:30 - Red Wings hot streakWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team? The Calgary Flames played a "slow and sloppy" game against the Nashville Predators. They could not keep up with the Predators or take advantage of the powerplay. Overall it was a horrible performance that pushed the Flames further away from breaking even at .500. These next three opponents are a bit more competitive than their last stretch. They face off against the Dallas Stars who are red hot and not slowing down. We talk all about the Edmonton Oilers breaking the Flames but it was really the stars. Jake Oettinger and Joe Pavelski continue to impress in the Lonestar State. They face off against the Vegas Golden Knights and the Colorado Avalanche after the Stars & this is a chance for the Flames to bury themselves even further. Jess Belmosto wraps up the show with some positive news and analysis and feedback on Jonathan Huberdeau's recent success. Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! Locked On Predators - Daily Podcast On The Nashville Predators
Just a week after returning to the lineup, Cody Glass is back on Injured Reserve with an Upper-Body Injury. With Tommy Novak already out, the Nashville Predators are now down two centers. Will the Predators need to reach into their reserves in Milwaukee for a replacement? And if so, who? Plus, the Calgary Flames roll into Bridgestone Arena Wednesday night. Ann and Nick recap what went wrong in the Preds' dismal showing against Calgary the first time around, and debate what needs to happen for the Preds to get the W *this* time around. And which Predators player would be the best backyard football player? What hockey-related topic would start the biggest fight at the dinner table? What hockey memory are you most thankful for? We tackle those questions and more in a special Thanksgiving edition of Takes From A Hat. Follow & Subscribe on all Podcast platforms…
The Florida Panthers went on an improbable and impressive run all the way to the Stanley Cup Final last season on the backs of some impressive performances from major fantasy hockey stars. Stars that are now once again in the news, some for good reasons and others not so much. Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour have returned to the Panthers' lineup just in time to see its captain in Aleksander Barkov go out with what could have been a much more serious injury following a knee-on-knee hit. Are the Panthers for real? What do you do with Barkov in the meantime and the other blue-line options now back in the fold? Tune in and find out. You can also discover some of the top fantasy hockey players off to bad starts that could benefit from a change of scenery. Such as Columbus Blue Jackets stars in Patrik Laine and Johnny Gaudreau, both of whom were benched last game and both seem to be lost in the sauce. Others that could benefit from a move elsewhere would be Calgary Flames forward Elias Lindholm, New York Islanders big man Anders Lee, and of course, currently struggling netminder Juuse Saros. Everett Fitzhugh and Al Kinisky with final thoughts, while Mike Benton and Curtis Crabtree discuss the 4-3 overtime loss for the Seattle Kraken to the Calgary FLames on Nov. 20 at Climate Pledge Arena.
4 to 3, across the board, all week. Jeff and Joey discuss how tired they are after watching the Seattle Kraken have their 8th game of the season go into overtime after the squad once again had a late lead and why that's been impacting Kraken Pod After Dark. This week's Kraken Reaction (2:50) covers the brutal meltdown to the Edmonton Oilers, why Joey is cautious after taking care of the New York Islanders at home, building moments in a massive win at Rogers Arena against the Vancouver Canucks, and why in the hell the Seattle Kraken cannot take care of the Calgary Flames at Climate Pledge Arena. Philipp Grubauer has to exit last night's game after an apparent injury, and Vince Dunn remans hot with 7 points in his last 7 games, but the team is still struggling to find its identity and consistency, currently sitting in the second Wild Card spot despite being under .500 on the season so far. Joey's panic button date is still intact as his clock on the Seattle Kraken's 2023-2024 season is ticking. In NHL News: it is being reported that in 2024 we will see the return of the All-Star Fantasy Draft. Joey utilizes this as an excuse to ask what is the All-Star Fantasy Draft for this week's No Dumb Questions (34:04) and the boys go into a debate on whether or not this will be good for the league moving forward. Three Stars of the Week covers everything from reflection and gratitude for Thanksgiving, Jeff's runner's high, buying a house, pumpkin beer and seasonal drinking, drum lessons, and much more. Ending, as always, with the Chirp of the Week. Subscribe: On All podcasting apps, rate & review on iTunes, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify! Everett Fitzhugh, Al Kinisky, and Mike Benton set up the Nov. 20 matchup between the Seattle Kraken and Calgary Flames at Climate Pledge Arena.
On tonight's episode, we take a look at a few potential trade deadline sellers with expiring assets. Could the Winnipeg Jets make a big deal with the Calgary Flames for a blueliner? What expiring defenders might make sense for the Jets? Are any of Hanifin, Tanev, and Zadorov actually worth trading for? What happens if the Flames ask a high price for one of these rentals? Are there any Flames forwards worth trading for? Is there any chance of a Laine return to Winnipeg? If not Laine, who could Winnipeg pluck from the Columbus Blue Jackets? Is there a potentially underrated pick-up in one of Jake Bean or Adam Boqvist waiting in the wings? Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors! BetterHelp This episode is brought to you by BetterHelp. We are creeping closer and closer to American Thankgiving, which of course is an important benchmark in the NHL when it comes to teams and their playoff chances. With that date looming, Frank and Jason talked about a few teams that have been surprises to this point in the season and whether or not they have legit playoff chances. Before that though, they recapped Frank's trip to Sweden and talked about the results of the NHL's Global Series. The stars shone bright in Stockholm and William Nylander and Tim Stutzle both had big moments for their teams. That led to some talk about Nylander's future and how the Leafs can afford to keep him. From there, they talked about the Calgary Flames and their current state, gave out their Crown Royal Generous Guy of the Week, and Tyler swung by to play a little Fill in the Blank.1:10 - Sweden recap4:30 - Nylander and the Leafs11:55 - Flames trade assets15:50 - Flyers hot streak28:30 - Crown Royal Generous Guy33:20 - Weekly headlines35:10 - Fill in the Blank50:00 - Oilers playoff chancesWant to hear more from Frank, Jason and the entire DFO team?
