We also enlist her as our first Dish sommelier.  Jodie Whittaker is an English actor known for her roles in Broadchurch, Doctor Who, Frauds and Toxic Town. Jodie, who was born in West Yorkshire but now lives in London, arrives at Dish with the perfect mindset; hungry and up for trying anything. So, a menu full of surprises it is, as we sit down to chat about Jodie's latest project: Dear England. The TV series is an adaptation of the hugely successful play that looks at Gareth Southgate's time as England manager.  We start things with a Hugo spritz, while learning about Jodie's favourite cuisines and the restaurant trip that brought her to tears... in a good way. Stories of superstitious drinks and a cheese grudge. Paapa Essiedu is a highly acclaimed actor, known for his work across stage and screen. After attending Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Paapa joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, making his debut in The Merry Wives of Windsor at the age of 22. Other stage credits include Death of England: Delroy, The Effect and, most recently, All My Sons, a performance which saw him win an Olivier Award.   Paapa joins Nick and Angela to talk about two TV projects, including Falling, where he plays a priest who falls in love with a nun, portrayed by former Dish guest Keeley Hawes. The show is the first love story written by Jack Thorne, whose credits include Adolescence, His Dark Materials, Toxic Town and Skins. Richard Gadd is the creative talent behind Baby Reindeer - the Netflix show which won six Primetime Emmys, two Golden Globes and garnered 84.5 million views within its first 45 days. The untold story of a young couple falling in love and getting married against the backdrop of disaster. Serhiy first laid eyes on Iryna under the swirling lights of the best disco in town. She was wearing a cool jumpsuit with a bright red belt, which drew attention to her waist as she wiggled to the pulsing beat. Serhiy was freshly discharged from the Red Army and was happy to be able to let his hair down. He thought Iryna was beautiful and couldn't take his eyes off her. He wouldn't work up the courage to ask Iryna out until a few days later, but once they started dating, Club Edison 2 became a favourite haunt and they looked forward to the weekly discos.The man behind the decks was DJ Alexander Demidov, a legend on the night life scene, known for his pioneering shows. He wasn't just choosing tracks; he was the pilot, the chief guide, the organiser of the dance. He was constantly talking to the crowd to say how, what, and where they were going next. Club Edison2 quickly became known as the best disco in Ukraine. He did have to jump through some hoops first though. It was 1986 and DJ Alexander had to have his playlist approved by the Soviet state. Often he would sneakily play banned foreign records that had been illegally smuggled in for a rapturous crowd hungry for anything from the West, from beyond the Iron Curtain, from outside the Soviet Union. His disco became something more: a sanctuary where forbidden Western songs pulsed through speakers, fashions were improvised, and young people tasted freedom despite the watchful eye of the state.It was risky, but a risk worth taking for this was no ordinary crowd. This was a dance floor full of the brightest and best from across all 15 countries that made up the Soviet union. This was a disco for the people of Pripyat, an ‘atom-grad', or nuclear city, built especially for the scientists and workers at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. It was a place designed to embody the future.It was in Pripyat that Serhiy and Iryna would fall in love. The city was one of the best places to live in the Soviet Union: good jobs, full shops, beautiful scenery and great nightlife. It's where they planned their future together, in a city that seemed safe.They planned to get married on Saturday 26th April 1986. But the night before the wedding, they felt the ground shake and heard a booming sound. It came from the direction of the nuclear power plant. On the morning of the wedding, as Serhiy went to pick up his best man from the station, he found the streets full of soldiers wearing gas masks and washing the streets down. Rumours swirled that there had been an accident at the Nuclear reactor, but nothing official was said. They called the authorities who told them they must still hold their wedding. As engineers and firefighters battled an unfolding nuclear catastrophe, the city's residents were told nothing. Iryna and Serhei married, smiling for photographs, but stumbling during their much practiced waltz, as unease rippled through the room. By the end of the wedding reception, the celebration descended into chaos. Still in her wedding dress, Iryna ended up running barefoot through the streets as evacuation orders spread, leaving behind her home, her possessions, and the city where their love had begun.The Last Dance Floor in Chernobyl tells the story of DJ Alex, Serhiy and Iryna and what happens to them after the disaster at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, the worst nuclear accident the world has ever seen. On Friday March the 20th 2026 at the 118th British artistic gymnastics championships we had the opportunity to interview some of the biggest names in the sport. In 2026 we will see three major championships take place and the official LA 2028 Olympic selection process will begin at the World championships in Rotterdam. Heading into the weekend we have three different men toping the home Nations competitions in the all around standings in Adam Tobin, Reuben Ward and Jonas Rushworth. Following the podium training session today it became clear that Jake Jarman will be competing on all six events for the first time since the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Max Whitlock makes his return to the M&S bank arena as he continues his comeback push towards his fifth Olympic Games. Harry Hepworth is planning to perform not one but two of the most difficult vaults in the world which would put him ahead of both Jake Jarman and Carlos Yulo in terms of his difficulty. Luke Whitehouse will be motivated to build upon another incredible year in 2025 after winning European gold & World silver and look to produce strong performances across multiple apparatus. Joe Fraser will be hoping to challenge for the all around title and showcase world class gymnastics on his favoured events. Is removing statues and decolonising the curriculum the answer? A member of the first generation born after the end of colonial rule in Zimbabwe, Simukai Chigudu came to the UK as a teenager and later became one of the founding members of a campaign to try to get the statue of imperialist Cecil Rhodes moved from Oriel College in Oxford. Now an associate professor of African politics at the University of Oxford, he's written a memoir called Chasing Freedom: Coming of Age at the End of Empire. In this episode he discusses the legacy of the Rhodes Must Fall campaign and whether countries like Britain should pay reparations for slavery. Irish author Marian Keyes has sold over 30 million copies of her books worldwide over the past three decades. From her 1995 debut Watermelon to Rachel's Holiday and last year's 'menopause romance' My Favourite Mistake, she's championed telling ordinary women's stories in all their glory, with plenty of humour thrown in. Now some of her most-loved books and characters have been adapted into a TV series called The Walsh Sisters which has just debuted on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Marian and the show's co-creator Stefanie Preissner talk to presenter Nuala McGovern about bringing Rachel and her sisters to life on screen. As the Government prepares to unveil its plans for a major overhaul of the SEND system, we hear from BBC Political Correspondent Alex Forsyth on what's been said so far and what's expected. The government has said it will spend billions to make English mainstream schools more inclusive for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, with Sir Keir Starmer saying that the experience of his late brother, who had learning disabilities, makes him "determined to change Britain so that it is truly built for all." The number of people with education, health and care plans (EHCPs) up to the age of 25 in England has doubled in a decade. Student midwives have contacted us to say many of them are struggling to find jobs despite a serious shortage of midwives in the NHS. A new survey from the Royal College of Midwives echoes that finding. It says 31% of those newly qualified midwifes are still not employed in the role and the majority of those who have found employment are on fixed term contracts. This comes a year after the government announced it's Graduate Guarantee pledging that every newly qualified nurse and midwife in England would have the opportunity to apply to join the NHS workforce. We hear from Safia, who is in her final year of midwifery training, and Gill Walton, Chief Executive of the Royal College of Midwives. Award-winning British Nigerian fashion designer Tolu Coker joins Nuala in the studio fresh from kicking off London Fashion Week with King Charles in the front row.
