Here to deliver all that the sports world has to offer, you've come to the right place to get my opinions and analysis as we kick off the week with a loaded podcast. On deck: (4:15) The NBA postseason has been anything but great, even good, for that matter. As evidenced by two Conference Finals that has one on the brink of conclusion (the Warriors taking a 3-0 series lead) and the ugliness of Games 2 & 3 between Miami & Boston. Game 3 did get interesting in the final few minutes, but I'll tell you why that game was tough to take if you're a Celtic fan? With both series potentially over by Wednesday night, there may be a case where you'll have EIGHT days between then and the start of the NBA Finals on June 2nd, which the league is privately holding their collective breaths. (19:45) What happened to the Florida Panthers? The President's Trophy winner of the regular season could be out of the playoffs as early as tonight, as the Lightning have a commanding 3-0 lead in their best of seven series. Will they have any fight, or show some pride to avoid a sweep? The Battle of Alberta has the Edmonton Oilers in favor with a 2-1 series advantage. Are they in the driver's seat to win over their hated rival Flames? The Avalanche have a leg up on the Blues as they won Game 3 in St. Louis, which has led to a little controversy regarding Avs center, Nazem Kadri. He ran into Blues goaltender, Jordan Binnington, who is now lost for the remainder of the series. Kadri has received death threats from people out in social media because of this incident. How will this impact the Avalanche remains to be seen? And the Rangers have gotten themselves back in the series as the scene shifts to Madison Square Garden with a win over the Hurricanes. (32:33) The White Sox and Yankees went at it over the weekend, where sparks flew between Yankees 3B Josh Donaldson and White Sox SS Tim Anderson. Donaldson's remark toward Anderson caused an uproar on the field and in the postgame of alleged racist undertones toward the shortstop, where Donaldson was pleading his case. Did Donaldson cross the line? Was it offensive? Should Donaldson be suspended for his actions? Albert Pujols hit two home runs yesterday to bring his all time number to 683. Will he catch or surpass Alex Rodriguez for fourth place in his quest to hit 700 for his career? I'll revisit the Max Scherzer injury as the Mets try to hold down the fort until his return, which could also coincide the return of Jacob deGrom in late June/early July. The Padres have played very well without Fernando Tatis Jr. and Blake Snell. They come off of a sweep of the Giants in San Francisco as they're just a half game back in the NL West behind the Dodgers. I'll take a trip throughout the major leagues and assess what's happening as we're starting to see some separation between the haves and have nots. (47:41) The second golf major (PGA Championship) of 2022 was completed over the weekend. In dramatic fashion, Justin Thomas wins in a playoff vs. Will Zalatoris. The toughest loss of all was Mito Pereira who had the competition won, but double bogeyed on the 18th hole nullifying him of winning the PGA. Combine that with a furious comeback by Thomas. It was a not so great tournament but it did deliver a thrilling end as he wins his second PGA in his career. (51:54) There's already been an upset at the French Open as Naomi Osaka was ousted in the first round. I'll preview both the men's and women's side as to who has a run in them to make it to a final. Although the men's bracket is puzzling as you have Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and young upstart, Carlos Alcaraz all on the same side to where one of those three could potentially not make it to a semifinal match, let alone a final. (56:21) In closing, my Hero and Zero of the Week. It's Friday afternoon and that means we're hitting you with a brand new episode of Oilersnation Radio to help you finish off what's left of your week with an hour of all things Edmonton Oilers. On today's show, we talked about the Oilers dropping Game 5, the Oilers pushing the series to a seventh game, and a whole lot more. Kicking off this week's podcast, we got started with a look back at the disaster that was Game 1 and what the boys need to do to get back on track in tonight's rematch. From switching up the lines to tightening up defensively, there is plenty of room for improvement for a team that did not look very good at all. If the Oilers plan on stealing a game in Calgary, there is no shortage of items on the to-do list that the boys need to check off. From there, we welcomed Daily Faceoff's Frank Seravalli to talk about the series and the news he broke today that Darnell Nurse could be battling a core-muscle issue that may require surgery to correct in the offseason. Lastly, we wrapped up the Friday edition of the podcast with another round of Ask the Idiots and Hot and Cold performer.

TSN Oilers reporter Ryan Rishaug joins Julia and Al's Brother to talk about the reason for the late start in game 2, if it was the right move for the Oilers to run it back with Mike Smith, and how Darnell Nurse and Leon Draisaitl may not be at 100 per cent and how that's impacting the team.
A new episode of The DFO Rundown is here to take you into the weekend! Frank and Jason are both out in Calgary to cover the Battle of Alberta and they kicked off the podcast by talking about the wildly entertaining series opener that we saw on Wednesday. They outlined what both teams need to do in order to clean up their games. The Oilers are very banged up right now with key players like Leon Draisaitl and Darnell Nurse clearly labouring. That could derail things for the Oilers. The Flames scored nine goals in game one but as the guys discussed, that performance won't sit well with Darryl Sutter. They also hit on the Panthers being down 2-0 to the Tampa Bay Lightning after two games in Florida. They also welcomed in Tyler Yaremchuk for a new edition of 'Fill in the Blank'!Their guest today was Craig MacTavish. As a former Oilers player, Head Coach, and GM, he has plenty of great stories when it comes to the Battle of Alberta. He also gave us some insight into what allowed the Flames to look so good and what the Oilers will need to do in order to bounce back in game two. On today's episode, we talk about the Oilers' defensive issues, just how hurt is Darnell Nurse and who can and will step up for the Oilers in his aid? Plus, Oilers head coach confirmed Mike Smith will get the start in Game 2 of the Battle of Alberta, why is this the right call? TSN Hockey Insider Chris Johnston joined OverDrive earlier today and got into a number of things including Game One between the Flames and Oilers, Jack Campbell's future, whether he remains a Leaf and what else stands out heading into the offseason for blue and white.
Arash is in for Stephen today and they dive into the Jays and how Vladdy Jr is being pitched to so differently that he has nothing to swing at and it starting to force it. The pressure is not on Teoscar Hernandez who has yet to find a groove since his return from injury and historically it takes him a while to find his bat after being hurt. If Teo starts to swing, it opens everything up for the rest of the order. Later, Tiger Woods is quickly out of contention at The PGA and they debate how the endorsement game is just as hard to walk away from. Then we have a war of words between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fischer. Then over to the Oilers/Flames and how Game 1 already exploited the Oilers weakness in net. Is Smith falters next game the Oilers will have to ask a 2nd string goalie to start a must-win Game 3. Mike Smith has already been named the starter for Game 2. Then an old fashioned debate with Ben and Arash about how the Leafs and their management has been let off the hook after their most recent first round loss. Hour 1 to kick off a Thursday on OverDrive with Bryan Hayes, Jeff O'Neill & Jamie McLennan as the guys get into Round One of the PGA Championship and a wild Game 1 in the Battle of Alberta last night. TSN Radio Edmonton Host Jason Strudwick also stops by to look back on the 9-6 loss for the Oilers.
TSN Radio Edmonton Host & friend of the show Jason Strudwick joined OverDrive earlier today following the Oilers 9-6 Game 1 loss to Calgary. He touched on the bad start, Mike Smith getting the net in Game 2 and how important it is for Leon Draisaitl to play at full strength.
Ahhhh game one of the Battle of Alberta did not go the way we wanted. It was wildly entertaining with a total of 15 goals and a crazy comeback by the Oilers, but that didn't totally mask just how awful the team played for some long stretches. The guys opened up episode 380 of The Real Life Podcast by sharing their thoughts on the first game against the Flames and where they thought things went wrong for the team. Tyler and Jay shared their disappointment with the boy's effort in the first game. Wanye was without a doubt the most optimistic of the bunch, as he's been throughout his entire playoff run. Chalmers also popped in with his take and his frustration with the portion of the fan base that always seems to want to write this team off after every loss. The guys also joked about how since it's the playoffs and they're so focused on the Oilers every night, the podcast has lacked its usual amount of nonsense and tom-foolery. Instead, it's basically just been a straight-up Oilers podcast, which is weird, right? Were they low-energy on the pod today? Sure, but so were the Oilers, so it's on brand!
Get Louie's reaction to Game 1 of the second round between Edmonton and Calgary that flashed us all back to the 80s with 15 goals scored in a 9-6 Oilers loss. Plus, what happened to Mike Smith early on? And how does the team rebound from a defensive let down to return to their own brand of hockey for Game 2? ABOUT FOOTBALL IS FAMILY Do you bleed your favorite football team's colors each weekend? Does the difference of a W or L in the box score dictate how you respond for the rest of the week? Or do most of your conversations with your family and friends revolve around your favorite football team? If you answered yes to any (or maybe all) of these questions, then you are in the right place. The host of this podcast truly believes that “Football Is Family” and he is on a mission to share the stories of other fans out there sharing how they have been touched by the greatest sport on Earth. Listen below to the trailer and learn more about the host and show. HOST - JEREMY MCFARLIN Growing up in Middle Tennessee, I didn't have a pro football team that was close enough to me to feel a part of. My first memory of pro football was Super Bowl 22. I picked the Broncos to win, and, even though they didn't win, I followed them from that point on. John Elway was (and is) my favorite player. I have played as the Broncos on Tecmo Bowl, Tecmo Bowl Super Bowl, Madden, and 2K Sports. I fondly remember the moments when the Broncos won Super Bowls 32 and 33. Around this time, the Oilers came to Tennessee. I was hooked. I finally had a team just down the road from my hometown of Bon Aqua. Oiler (and later Titans) mania hit this area. Jerseys, hats, footballs, merchandise, and several autographs later, I'm a Titans fan through and through. It's the dedication, the love, and the passion for football that helps me realize that football is family. Each fan base has a story, a history, and a love for their team. That's what I want to talk about each and every podcast. You can follow me https://twitter.com/jeremy_mcfarlin (@jeremy_mcfarlin). Message me if you want to share your reasons why your football team is family.
