In this episode of CPM Customer Success, host Andy Sana welcomes back Dave Collins, Director of Solutions Consulting at OneStream Software, for a deep-dive discussion into one of the most common comparisons finance teams are making today: OneStream vs. Anaplan. Dave breaks down the core differences between modular “connected planning” tools like Anaplan and OneStream's unified, extensible CPM platform. They explore: • The scalability limitations of cube-based models • How OneStream eliminates technical debt through unification • Real-world examples of organizations transitioning from Anaplan to OneStream • Integration and data quality strategies that actually work • Why AI, automation, and built-in financial intelligence are reshaping performance management Whether you're an FP&A leader, IT stakeholder, or evaluating CPM solutions across your organization, this episode offers strategic insight to help you make a smarter, future-ready decision.

In this special New Year's Eve episode, I welcomed back Shawn Myszka and Tyler Yearby from Emergence to discuss a recent academic paper criticising ecological dynamics and many of researchers and practitioners working in the space. The article is called "Ecological Dynamics as an Accurate and Parsimonious Contributor to Applied Practice: A Critical Appraisal" by Dave Collins, Howie Carson, Par Rylander and Ray Bobrownicki. I invited Shawn and Tyler onto the show because I wanted them to be given an opportunity to address the callous misrepresentation in the direct driticism they made regarding Shawn and Tyler's work on Bruce Lee's alignment with ecological principles. The conversation evolved into a broader discussion about the future of ecological dynamics in coaching science and the emerging role of skill acquisition specialists in professional sports. Five Key PointsThe ecological community continues to grow, with practitioners across different fields finding value in applying these principles. It is interesting to note that Collins is authoring this criticism while at the same time promoting a book that embraces ideas from ecological dynamics. The paper misrepresented Shawn and Tyler's research about Bruce Lee, claiming they altered quotes to fit their argument when in fact they had been explicitly transparent about their modifications and reasoning. There's a fundamental misunderstanding about combining traditional and ecological approaches - you can't simply cherry-pick elements without considering the underlying theoretical foundations. Anyone who suggests that you can do this is either being dishonest or they don't understand the basic assumptions of the ecological theory. The role of skill acquisition specialists is becoming increasingly important in professional sports, with a growing recognition that these positions need to be fully integrated into organisational structures. You can pick and choose methods but you can't pick and choose thoeries. If one theory is directly opposed the the ideas of another theory - trying to suggest that you can mix the two together is just academic populism. Three Key Quotes "Don't throw stones at people that are not throwing stones back at you. I'm just trying to advance the field." - Tyler Yearby "You can't be a vegan and have the odd bacon sandwich... you can't have your theoretical cake and eat it." - Stuart Armstrong "It's just their cop-out way of not actually having these types of interactions and instead hiding behind the keyboard and maybe a research journal paywall... that shows the disingenuous nature of what they're doing." The Dodgers for a short period will be paying 3 managers, Max Carey, Grimes and Stengel. Grimes will last two seasons and win only 131 games and lose 171.On November 5, 1997 – In an unprecedented move, Davey Johnson resigns the same day he is named American League Manager of the Year. Despite the fact that Johnson ended the Baltimore Orioles' 13-year playoff drought in 1996 and led the Orioles to the league's best record in 1997 (98-64), a dispute over $10,500 in fines to second baseman Roberto Alomar ends Johnson's reign in Baltimore. Johnson directed the fines to be paid to a charity. A talented center fielder, he combined with Jesse Barfield and George Bell to form what was sometimes called the best outfield in baseball in the late 1980s.In 1983 Moseby became the first Blue Jay to score 100 runs in a season, and tied teammate Damaso Garcia for a team-record (and league-leading) 21-game hitting streak. The following season, he tied with teammate Dave Collins for the AL lead in triples, and was a consistent run-producer and stolen base threat for the mid-80s Jays. By the end of the decade, the “best outfield” was being dismantled. Barfield was traded to the Yankees, and emerging prospect Junior Felix was gradually pushing Moseby out of center. When Moseby signed with the Detroit Tigers in December 1989, he left Toronto as the Blue Jays' career leader in games, at-bats, runs, hits, doubles, total bases, extra-base hits, stolen bases, strikeouts, being hit by the pitch, and sacrifice flies.

October 2, 1979 @ Riverfront Stadium For the fourth time this decade, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Cincinnati Reds will face off for the National League Pennant. The Reds have had the advantage so far this decade, defeating the Buccos in the previous three series with a combined 9-2 record. Both of these teams have dominated their respective divisions throughout this decade (6th NL east crown for PIT, 5th NL West crown for CIN), but the teams look a bit different from their previous matchups. Yes, Willie Stargell and Dave Parker are still threats in the middle of the lineup; but now they are supported by the likes of Omar Moreno, Bill Madlock, Phil Garner, and others. Bert Blyleven and Jim Bibby have come in to stabilize the rotation. Danny Murtagh is long gone as manager; Chuck Tanner gets his first crack at the postseason. Ditto for John McNamara, who replaces legendary Reds skipper Sparky Anderson (who left for Detroit). Tom Seaver is the new ace for the Reds. Key cogs of the Big Red Machine, Pete Rose and Tony Perez, departed in free agency. Former MVPs Joe Morgan and George Foster have battled injuries all year, and it seems as if these games may be the last that Morgan will play in a Red uniform. The Great Johnny Bench and ever reliable Dave Concepcion are still solid as ever up the middle, but Cincinnati has needed the boost from others like Ray Knight and Dave Collins. This game one figures to be a pitchers' duel, with two aces going at it. Tom Seaver (16 - 6 3.14 ERA 215 IP) takes the hill in his first, and surprisingly only postseason game for the Reds since he was traded in '77. On the bump for Pittsburgh is lefty John Candelaria (14 - 9 3.22 ERA 207 IP), one of the most dependable left-handed starters in all of baseball for the better part of a decade (averaged 15 - 9 3.19 ERA 216 IP between '76 - '80). This game and this series will be determined by great defense and timely hitting, as many thrilling postseason series are. Tune in for a fantastic game one. Audio Clips from joeydbball Youtube. Part 1 is here https://coldwarconversations.com/episode268In October of 2022, I was asked by the West Pennines Military Vehicle Trust to moderate a Q&A session with a number of BRIXMIS veterans.Attending were Drivers Neil Walton, Pete Curran, Dave Collins and Kev Smith, plus Sandy Saxton-Warne (Joint operations & weapons) , Mike Hill (Tour officer), Mike Corcoran (Weapons), and Dave Butler (Senior Non Commissioned Officer, Tourer). It was an amazing afternoon of reminiscing about their experiences and viewing the amazing collections they had from that time. My good friend Colin Dyter was a massive help with the recording, but a quick note that the audio is not up to the usual quality of Cold War Conversations, due to background noise, but I think the events and activities described definitely make it worth listening to.Cold War history is disappearing; however, a simple monthly donation will keep this podcast on the air. You'll become part of our community and get a sought-after CWC coaster as a thank you and you'll bask in the warm glow of knowing you are helping to preserve Cold War history. Dave Collins teaching IronMen Connect | 03/11/22 Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 1. Do you think the devil can attack you? That his demons can tempt you? 2. What form of porn are you/have you used? 3. MOST IMPORTANTLY Are you willing to turn this over to Jesus for healing and to seek help?
This week, Pastors Sung Kim and Dave Collins talk about the problem of racism and get Dave's perspective as a white man. They tackle charges that the God of the Old Testament actually endorses slavery and racism in an attempt to answer the big question: Is God Racist?
In this very special edition of Changing Faces, we hit episode 200! What a journey it's been to hit the big 2 0 0. From humble beginnings of James doing 2 different hourly mixes and presenting each week to what we are today. We kick off the show with a special mixed b2b recording taken […]
This two-part bonus series is an update on everything FIP from our clinical podcast series. There have been some major changes in this space over the last few months, most notably around the legal access to Remdesivir for animal use and the availability of an oral formulation of GS442524 in Australia and the UK through BOVA compounding. In this episode, we go to the front lines of therapy to create the most up to date FIP guide out there. We speak to Dr Sally Coggins, a feline vet and FIP researcher at Sydney University, about what they are learning about feline infectious peritonitis treatment. In part one we learn how to confirm your diagnosis, and we dig deep into Remdesivir - the drug that changed it all. Our co-host for these episodes is Dr Dave Collins - a medicine specialist from Sydney and the genius behind Vets On Tour, which is a series of veterinary conferences held in some of the world's most spectacular places. If you fancy a bit of snow and apres-ski with your CPD you should check out https://www.vetsontour.com.au/. Go to vvn.supercast.com for a free two-week trial of our Medicine, ECC and Surgery podcasts. We know how hard it is to commit the time to sit down for ongoing CPD, and we know how quickly you start feeling rusty and that you're falling behind, which is why we think you'll love these. Three episodes per week that will take you from 'unsure' to being a total boss, all in the space of your drive to work. Once you're joined up you'll be able to listen to all of our podcasts in exactly the same place that you normally listen to podcasts, including the Apple podcast player and Spotify. We'll also send you beautifully made show notes with all of the good bits so you can refer back to it later. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/vet-vault/message
In part two of our bonus FIP series Dr Sally Coggins - feline vet and FIP researcher - tells us about other potentially useful treatments, like mefloquine for FIP. This could be particularly useful if you are not in Australia or the UK with access to BOVA's legally compounded Remdesivir and oral GS44152. We also cover off on side effects of Remdisivir, as well as the practicalities of the treatment period, like how to help clients with painful injections, and speak to a vet nurse who treated her own cat for FIP to get an owner's perspective. Joining us as co-host is Dr Dave Collins - medicine specialist and organiser of spectacular snow-based vet conferences with Vets On Tour. Start planning at https://www.vetsontour.com.au/ If you enjoy our clinical content then head to vvn.supercast.com for a free two-week trial of our large collection of podcasts in small animal medicine, surgery and emergency. Short enough to consume on your drive to work, but with enough content to make you just a little bit better (and more enthusiastic!) at your job, and backed up by beautiful show notes to refer back to later. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/vet-vault/message
