CC and Ashley feel all the feels as they cover episode 39 of Sailor Moon Crystal: "Infinity 12, Infinite–Journey" -- the final episode of Sailor Moon Crystal (thus far). In this episode: Are the Outer Senshi essentially just the Crystal Gems? Is Sailor Saturn a Grey Warden? Is there any sight more horrifying than a poorly drawn horse's reflection in a mirror? Your hosts parse these questions and celebrate the flawed yet delightfully gay world wonder that was Sailor Moon Crystal season 3. Thanks for listening! We'll miss you! In their first post-Electionapocalypse 2016 episode, CC and Ashley tackle episode 38 of Sailor Moon Crystal: "Act.37 INFINITY 11 Infinite - Judge." In this episode, we continue our time-honored tradition of politicizing Sailor Moon Crystal as we discuss showing up to parties uninvited and whether or not Pharaoh 90 is, in fact, just a big ol' amorphous blob of patriarchy. CC and Ashley cover Sailor Moon Crystal episode 37: ""Infinity 10 Infinite–Upper Atmosphere." In this episode, your hosts discuss poorly-planned alien gentrification, lament the crushing of young queer love by too-horny heterosexism, and armchair psychoanalyze Tuxedo Mask's need to out-dad himself and everyone else. In this episode, I have five electronica tracks for you. These days, it is hard to really single out something as electronica, as so much music is made on computers and a lot of it doesn't even remotely sound like that's where it came from. For this episode, though, I picked songs that really do sound like we would imagine songs made on a computer sound, but even that gives us everything from chiptunes and really upbeat songs to more slow, ambient ones. The songs in this episode are "Future Memories" by Escape Into, "Magnetize" by Astro Kid, "Hello World" by Upside Down Cake, "Waking Up In The Perseids" by VCMG, and "The Future, Both Forever Ungrasped" by Connectedness Locus.
This is the Valentine's Day themed podcast, but since I can't really top last year's podcast for songs about love, I thought I'd go for something a little bit different. So, do you remember in the movie "The Terminator" when Sarah Connor's answering machine says "Machines need love too"? Well, I decided to use that as the theme. With that in mind, here are five songs about robots... and their relationships with the humans who love or need them. The podcast begins with "Everybody Needs a Robot" by Matthew Ebel, followed by "Robots" by Canadian musician Dan Mangan, which has a fantastic video. "Disco Droid" by Astro Kid and "I Need Your (Robot) Love" by Eat Me Drink Me are two robot-themed dance songs, and "Wadsworth's Song" by Lewis Fitzjohn wraps up the show with a tribute to the video game Fallout 3 in the style of The Ink Spots. Also, in this episode, I announce the winners of the 2011 Listeners' Choice Contest.
