Ici, pour la traverser, on emprunte le bac : une plateforme en bois et en métal, portée par la force du courant, guidée par des conducteurs comme Sylvestre : « Ce bac c'est toute ma vie. Un métier simple et essentiel. Je transporte des véhicules, des camions et des cargaisons entières. Certains traversent pour aller faire du commerce, d'autres rejoignent leur famille, il y a également ceux qui partent au travail. » Le vacarme du moteur se mêle aux conversations. Femmes, hommes et enfants montent les uns après les autres. Chacun avec sa raison de traverser la rivière, mais le passage est le même pour tous. Bernice est une agricultrice. « Ce bac est comme un vieil ami pour moi. Sans lui, je ne suis rien. Mon champ se trouve de l'autre côté, et le bac est le seul moyen pour m'y rendre. Je monte toujours à bord avec mes paniers. Durant la récolte, c'est grâce à ce bac que j'achemine tous mes produits vers les grandes villes et les marchés. » Cohésion entre les habitants Lorsque le bac s'éloigne de la rive, un silence particulier s'installe. Tout le monde regarde l'eau. L'ombre des arbres se reflète sur la surface fluide. La dépendance à ce bac préoccupe Léopold Kossolo, le chef du village de Bac-Lobé-Yapo. « Ce bac est pratiquement le seul dans la région. S'il tombe en panne, toutes les villes alentour se retrouveront isolées les unes des autres. Ce bac renforce la cohésion entre les habitants, il nous rapproche. Bien sûr, il existe des pirogues, mais leurs capacités sont limitées. Il serait plus simple d'installer deux bacs ici et pourquoi pas de construire un pont sur la rivière. » Soudain, l'autre bord apparaît. Les premiers enfants accourent, et l'agitation reprend. Les passagers débarquent, chacun reprenant sa route, laissant derrière eux la courte traversée qui, pourtant, rythme le quotidien de toute une région. « Le bac a plus de 40 ans. Tout le monde sait que la rivière Lobaye est très profonde. Pour éviter tout drame ou naufrage, il est nécessaire de procéder à sa réhabilitation complète et, si possible, d'installer des équipements de sauvetage en cas d'accident. Chaque jour, des centaines de personnes font des allers-retours à cet endroit », explique Léopold Kossolo. La construction d'un pont sur la rivière Lobaye est en cours. Elle s'inscrit dans le cadre du projet du corridor 13, un programme de construction routière reliant la République du Congo, la RCA et le Tchad, financé par la Banque africaine de développement (BAD). Following high school he played at NC State and would later transfer to Auburn University. While he went undrafted he would sign a summer league contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers and later a contract with the Dallas Mavericks. His career would span for over a decade in the NBA and across Europe. Adam has played across every level int he game from the NBA, G league, Collage, professionally around the world and winning titles he has done it all. Harrington following a stint selling medical devices would later transition into coaching and player development. He has worked extensively with top NBA players including Kevin Durant , Jimmy Butler, Duncan Robinson. Sabrina Ionescu, Ella Delle Donne, Fred Vanvleet, Ben Sheppard, Narasha Cloud to name a few. He has also held shooting and development roles with NBA franchises including the Brooklyn Nets and Oklahoma City Thunder. Working with players to refine mechanics, consistency, and build confidence. Adam also spent the inagural season season of Unrivalled, the Women's 3x3 League, as Head Coach for Team Phantom BC. Known for blending technical detail and with game-realistic training, Adam's approach focuses on footwork and balance in your shot. Mike Durant is a retired U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 4 and Master Black Hawk pilot with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Night Stalkers). Inspired by his father, a First Sergeant in the Army National Guard, and a family friend's helicopter flight, Durant enlisted in 1979. After studying Spanish at the Defense Language Institute and serving as a voice intercept operator in Panama, he graduated from flight school at Fort Rucker, Alabama, becoming a Warrant Officer in 1983. He flew over 150 medical evacuation missions in South Korea with the 377th Medical Evacuation Company and later served as an instructor pilot with the 101st Aviation Battalion. Joining the elite 160th SOAR in 1988, Durant flew in Operations Prime Chance, Just Cause, Desert Storm, and Restore Hope. During the 1993 Battle of Mogadishu (Operation Gothic Serpent), his MH-60 Black Hawk was shot down, leaving him severely injured and held captive by Somali militia for 11 days. Despite doctors' doubts, he recovered, ran the 1995 Marine Corps Marathon, and returned to duty, retiring in 2001. Mike's awards include: Distinguished Service Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross (second award), Bronze Star w/ Valor device, Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal w/ Valor device (third award), Army Commendation Medal (fourth award), Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Prisoner of War Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with Bronze Arrowhead Device (second award), Southwest Asia Service Medal w/ Bronze Service Star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), United Nations Medal, United Nations Medal-Operations in Somalia, Kuwait Liberation Medal-Government of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait Liberation Medal-Government of Kuwait, Master Aviator Badge, and Air Assault Badge.
