We thought this provided some nice symmetry with our episode about companion arrivals. Join Deb, Erika, Lynne, and Tansy as we talk about how companions leave the TARDIS. Many are forced out, some choose to leave, a few even die. We have some definite favorites and some just-as-definite least favorites. Also, Deb objectifies hair and Lynne wants to spray King Yrcanos with a spray bottle. It's lots of good fun! What's your favorite/least-favorite way to see a companion take their leave of the Doctor? Which stories do you love, and which don't hold water? Let us know in the comments! ^E Also covered [links on our site]: Lynne rightly adores the LEGO-recreation of the 11th Doctor's regeneration! Well, here it is: the last released episode of Splendid Chaps. And what a suitable topic to go out on! John, Ben and Petra discuss what they’ve learned from Doctor Who over the years with guests comedian, actor and teacher Rob Lloyd (Who, Me.) and writer and editor Liz Barr (Chicks Unravel Time) in an episode recorded for the Stonnington …
A trailer! A trailer! Maybe not THE trailer we've all been waiting for, but certainly a fitting tribute to 50 years of Doctor Who, with a frankly insane number of homages and visual cues stuffed into a minute of pure nostalgia. In true timey-wimey fashion, the Three Who Rule recorded the bulk of this episode BEFORE the trailer came out, but Steven and Warren were able to admonish their past selves and give their brief thoughts on the trailer, mostly consisting of "ooo," "ahhh," and "gear!" But lest you think a minute of visually splendiferous pandering was all that was covered in this episode of RFS, feast your earballs on a Miniscope featuring an interview with Liz Myles, the co-editor of Chicks Unravel Time and a member of the Verity! podcast, as she sings the praises of the Graham Williams era. Steven, Warren and Chris also cover the peaks and valleys of the Williams era, in addition to bantering about non-trailer related news. Fantasallonsonimo! The bulk of this week's episode is devoted to "Chicks Unravel Time," edited by Deb Stanish and L.M. Myles, a follow-up by Mad Norwegian Press to the widely praised "Chicks Dig Time Lords." In this book, each writer tackled a different season of Classic Who, with sometimes surprising results! The editors of this weighty tome told Warren and Steven about the creation of the book, the wide range of voices in the book (from pros to first-time writers) and the big difference that a female perspective can have on interpretation of our favorite television program. Oh yes, and some stats were mulled over at some point in the news segment. Last stats until Christmas, thank Omega! Check out the show notes at http://www.radiofreeskaro.com
The Angels Take Manhattan….and, to various degrees, the hearts of Warren, Steven, and Chip the Two Minute Time Lord, who sat in Chris's stead to review the mid-season finale and the departure of Matt Smith's near and dear companions, the Ponds. Weeping Statues of Liberty, questions of style vs. substance and what comes next for the series all reared their silent, menacing stone visages before coming to the really terrifying stuff…stats. Add a rant about thigh-less maxi-busts, high praise for Chicks Unravel Time, Chicago TARDIS, and Gel Guard action dolls and you've got yourselves three nerds talking about Doctor Who for an hour and change! And now another long wait until new Doctor Who stories grace our screens again... Check out the show notes at http://www.radiofreeskaro.com
