Jeff Van Duzer's teachings draw on his distinguished career in higher education, law, and financial management. At Seattle Pacific University, he held several positions including provost, dean of the School of Business and Economics, and professor of business ethics and business law. He practiced as a partner with the international law firm Davis Wright Tramaine for more than 20 years and is the author of Why Business Matters to God: (And What Still Needs to Be Fixed) along with many other articles in academic and popular journals.

Jeff Van Duzer - Why Business Matters To God Too often Christian businesspeople think that their work’s sole purpose is to generate money that they can donate to more “spiritual” causes. But what about business itself? Does God care about that? Jeff Van Duzer is the Dean of Business and Economics at Seattle Pacific University. Drawing from his book Why Business Matters to God, Van Duzer lays out the Biblical foundations for how humans were called to work. Since God created us to work, God desires businesses to provide opportunities for individuals to express their God-given identity through meaningful and creative endeavors. In this paradigm, profit ceases to be an end in itself. Instead, profit becomes the means by which a business can help to enable a community’s flourishing.

Van Duzer is the author of Why Business Matters to God: And What Still Needs to be Fixed and dean of the School of Business and Economics at Seattle Pacific University. He is also professor of business ethics and law, and prior to his work with SPU he served as a partner with Davis A. Wright Tremaine, an international law firm. Van Duzer has spoken at a number of different venues, including Redeemer Presbyterian Church's Gospel and Culture Lectures in 2010.
