Karen Fennell is the outgoing NATA COPA chair and as much as we tried to schedule this episode before then, schedules didn't line up. In this episode, Karen dives deep into what COPA is and their charge as a committee. She discusses the inner workings of COPA and how the committee is set up. It was interesting to hear how surprisingly large the committee is. Karen also discusses how the committee has evolved over time and adapted to the changes in the athletic training profession. Karen also makes a great point on the importance of the wording around “emerging” and “non-foundational” settings and why she chooses to use “non-foundational”. I learned a ton in this episode and have a better understanding of COPA and the NATA. Check it out.
