GUEST BIO Dani is a Filipino Canadian artist who creates music that effortlessly laments on young love and self-discovery. Moody, melancholic, and dreamy coming of age instrumentation complement the oozing nostalgia of her honest, hyper vulnerable, and conversational lyrics. Dani's song "All I Need" was featured on Anna Kendrick's movie, "Alice Darling", and several of her collaborations have been used in Netflix's Love is Blind and MTV's Teen Mom OGg. Artist cuts include Jillian May, Harley Huke, as well as Arcana's viral hit Stockholm syndrome performed by the dance studio ALiEN in Korea. Dani's debut ep, "everything I couldn't say", comes out early next year and it explores her experiences with grief, disability, love, and mental health. Commit to learning more and continue to provide a safe space for your child to be themselves at home. Feeling secure in your queerness and knowing that you are more than just your queerness can make it easier to talk about it with loved ones. Becoming disabled comes with a lot of grief over your old self and a lot of unlearning your own internalized ableism. Rest is healing. If you do not allow your body to rest, your body will make you do so eventually. So listen to your body and rest. The cost of living is much higher for disabled individuals. Accessible options often cost more. This is yet another example of ableism in society. Disabled people have an income cap, but billionaires don't. This is by design because capitalism is inherently ableist. People with disabilities often feel like they are a burden to those close to them. If that is you, please know that you don't have to do anything to be deserving of love and kindness. Disabled people can be hot. If that sounds weird to you, it's because we all have internalized ableism. But the good news is, this is fixable with better representation. QAnon is the source of many bizarre tales in the real world. But few are more bizarre than the tale of Romana Didulo, a Filipino-Canadian woman who claims to be the Queen of Canada. Since her appearance in 2020, Didulo has convinced many people that she is the monarch of Canada and also an alien. And that further, she is leading the fight against the worldwide cabal. She issues royal decrees, calls upon health workers and politicians to be executed, and convinces people that her government is making all public utilities free. Sometimes, it's fine to be wary about calling a belief system or a group of people a cult. But in this case, it's clear that this is a dangerous cult that has and continues to harm many people. To get a real proper perspective on the state of Romana Didulo, we are joined for the third time by the world's leading Romana Didulo expert, Mack Lameroux. He recently published a fascinating and extensive report on the ongoing business headlined “What Happens When A QAnon Cult Leader Moves To Town” on Vice News. Episode 74 of the Stories to Love podcast is up! Here with me today is Ferdelle Capistrano, who is the audiobook narrator of WHEN JASMINE BLOOMS.I know Ferdelle as an actor and audiobook performer, but the full story is that she is a multi-hyphenate creative — actor-director-writer-producer — and a first-generation Filipino-Canadian born and raised in Toronto. She instinctively understands the power of representation, since she grew up basically without it, so she set out to live her life to the fullest, to do and experience so much more than can be listed here (in this short bio), so that she could authentically tell the stories of others from a place of true understanding. In this episode we discussed her path to acting and performing, to include the catalyst that encouraged for her to pursue film seriously, and her brave move to Los Angeles from Toronto. We talked about factors in books that make it harder to narrate and how she brings her characters to life. Finally we chatted about the starving artist narrative, her singing, and working on a short film.LinksACX IannotateTHIS IS NOT A PERSONAL STATEMENT  by Tracy BaduaHOW TO BE THE BEST THIRD WHEEL by Loridee De Villa*** WHEN JASMINE BLOOMS, a contemporary fiction inspired by Marmee of Little Women, about a woman who suffers a great tragedy, wonders 'what if' and it comes true is here!Note: some links are affiliate linksContact Tif at tif@tifmarcelo.comPlease check out her website for podcast submissions

This week's case is a case from the diaspora. A listener suggested this case through the case suggestion list and I am glad I was able to cover it.The case is about a Filipino-American family in California who was considered unassuming and very much run of the mill. At least for those looking from the outside looking in. But all was not well, especially for mother Annamaria Gana who in 2010 received a devastating cancer diagnosis. Everyday was a fight for the mother of two. By May 2011, it all became too much and Annamaria decided to take matters into her own hands. Feeling like her family would not survive without her, she decided to do something that she thought would be in everybody's best interest. Her actions would have devastating consequences and also raises questions about female family annihilators.Listen now to this penultimate episode of Lagim's season 3.My special thanks goes to Sigi who lent his voice to part of Tony's statement, which was made in court during Annamaria's trial.
