On this week's show we are extremely honoured to welcome the indefatigable Laurie Levy, a man who was there during the beginnings of whale rescue in Australia in the late 1970s and who has dedicated half his life to banning duck and waterbird shooting in Australia. Before his activism, Laurie was a cameraman at GTV9 when television began and worked alongside greats such as Don Lane and Bert Newton. He watched technology change before his eyes. Laurie is a bona fide legend and should be honoured, having achieved many great changes and mobilised many people to bring about justice to some of our fellow creatures on our lands and in our seas. In the early to mid-1990s, the High Court began to expand on the notion of an implied freedom of political communication. In 1994, Laurie Levy was charged with unlawful entry into a duck hunting area, and his campaign and the implied freedom collided in the High Court.

In Episode 21 I talk with Coalition Against Duck Shooting's Laurie Levy. Laurie discusses several issues CADS have with hunting and consuming native waterbirds. Laurie told me Russel Mark never hunted ducks yet in Episode 9 when I interviewed Russel Mark he told me that he had fond memories hunting ducks with his dad. He still duck hunts in certain areas that he has been hunting for years.
