If you’ve ever looked at your payslip and thought “there’s no way I can build anything on this,” this diary is the proof you need. Our Money Diarist started on eight dollars an hour at Macca’s, saved like a girl with a plan, and built a foundation that most of us don’t hit until our thirties.... and she did it before she could legally rent a car. This episode is packed with the stuff that actually matters when you’re starting small. The tiny habits that added up to her first thirty thousand dollars. The mindset that kept her choosing long-term wins over short-term fun. The discipline she built on a low wage that turned out to be her biggest superpower once her income jumped. If you’ve been telling yourself you’ll start saving “when you earn more,” this diary will change your whole perspective, and maybe your next pay cycle too. If you want the motivation to start with what you’ve got, this diary will light that fire. Ready to binge more relatable, inspiring, and downright juicy money stories? In this episode of the XS Noize Podcast, Mark Millar is joined by Pearce Macca — frontman of Birmingham indie-rockers The Clause, a band whose rise has become one of the most inspiring new stories in modern British guitar music. The Clause have just unveiled their long-awaited debut album Victim of a Casual Thing — a record built on pure graft, unshakable friendship, and more than a decade of refusing to give in. What started in a cramped school practice room in 2011 — with Pearce Macca, Jonny Fyffe and Niall Fennell learning their favourite songs before Liam Deakin completed the line-up — has grown into a band with a fiercely loyal fanbase and a reputation for electrifying live shows. Pearce looks back on the full journey: the teenage beginnings, the countless setbacks, the near-misses, the belief that kept them going, and the breakthrough moments that finally pushed the band to album one. He reflects on the stories they've lived together — the wins, the losses, the friendships, the heartbreaks — and how those experiences became the emotional engine of Victim of a Casual Thing. We also dive into The Clause's rise on the live circuit, from sweatbox early gigs to lighting up festival crowds at Radio 1's Big Weekend, Isle of Wight, Truck, Tramlines, and Rock 'n' Roll Circus. And Pierce takes us inside the making of the album itself — the sound that defines The Clause, the writing and recording process, and why this record feels less like a finish line and more like the start of the real story. "We've done this the long way — but it's the right way. It's made us the band we are." – Pearce Macca Listen to Pearce Macca talk about the decade-long journey behind The Clause, the heart and honesty driving Victim of a Casual Thing, and the breakthrough moment they've been chasing — exclusively on the XS Noize Podcast. Nevena and Macca are joined live in the studio by Nina Taylor, state MP for Albert Park, as they discuss the new Gender Affirming Legislation in Victoria. Victoria has become the first state in Australia to make it free for trans and gender diverse people to update their gender on their birth certificate following regulation changes made by the Allan Labor Government. Minister for Government Services Natalie Hutchins today announced updates to the Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act (Fees) Regulations 2019 – making it free to update a record of sex on a birth certificate. Previously, trans Victorians paid $140.40 to be issued a new birth certificate while people born outside Victoria paid $122 for a recognised details certificate. These fees have now been abolished. In line with existing fee waiver policy, applications to change a name at the same time as a record of sex change will also be free, and certificate postage within Australia will be waived. Birth certificates are an important identity document used when enrolling for study, opening bank accounts, applying for a drivers licence or passport, or accessing government services – yet only one third of trans and gender Victorians currently hold identity documents that reflect who they are. By making it free, the Government is making sure cost is never a barrier to a person having an identity document that reflects who they are. Following changes to the law in 2020, Victorians do not need to undergo surgery to change the sex recorded on their birth certificate. The announcement follows Trans Awareness Week and Trans Day of Remembrance, acknowledging the achievements and challenges facing trans and gender diverse Australians. For more information about how to change a record of sex, visit bdm.vic.gov.au/change-record-sex. Legendary Chicago singer/songwriter Steve Goodman once sang of riding the rails on a train known as the City Of New Orleans. We have no idea how Chicago-based UBP listener, friend, and journalist/author Mark Guarino (Country & Midwestern, Chicago Sun Times, ABC-TV) got to the world's greatest arena, the Smoothie King Center, to see Sir Paul rock NOLA. But, if Mark is a real Chicago guy, he's probably still been there since the Bears won Super Bowl XX in January of 1986; unarguably the single greatest day in American history unless you hate excellence and joy. #PaytonIsTheGoat But all that matters is that Mark did manage to see Macca in one of America's most incredible cities, and he generously reported back on the show and the scene for the rest of us. At an extremely exorbitant fee, I might add. $12,000 for an audio field piece? In this economy, Mark??? Tony & T.J. will give their highly anticipated (editor's note: by whom?) recap after they see McCartney in Chicago over Thanksgiving week, you turkeys; but in the meantime we're excited to share another in our continuing series of the UBP Hive seeing Sir Paul live in 2025. Minneapolis! Home of Prince, “Mary Tyler Moore”, and arguably the most exciting NBA player today, Joe Ingles. And of late, it's home to Producer Casey; who recently took advantage of a last minute opportunity to see Sir Paul McCartney (heard of him, “Beatle fan?”). It's Casey's second Macca concert, and, arguably, first-ever concert. Figure that one out, math! Casey reports back with special inside information (that's a lie) from where the mini-apple's mediocre/stupid football team plays (GO BEARS), with news on the Hot City Horns, Minny Moms who Lap Dance, and the still-growing legend of rock's GOAT. Along the way, the Untitled Trio get a special message from our social media guru Glenny the K, who just saw Paul at Producer Casey's famous pizzarena. Plus, they also ask:

Welcome dear listener to First State Kopites. The podcast of the Premier League Champions. We are going to review Chelsea last Saturday, with the benefit of few days distance. I'm Paul and today I am joined by Daz and Sean. Away at Chelsea - xG 1.0 (0.11 first half) to 1.95 (0.64). 4 big chances to their 2.Immediate reaction vs. the chance to watch it again. How different were the narratives versus what actually happened:Start well - Gakpo, Bradley, Kerkez, Isak, Szobo, Salah all look brightGoal 15th - VVD covering Malo Gusto, after Macca has been tricked by Caicedo. Fluidity was affected by the goal. Also, just an incredible strike by CaicedoWe need to realize that Georgi is left footed! Ball gets turned over after he tries to kick with his right.Big chance for Szobo from Cody at 19; Isak header from Salah at 44, 46 big chance for Salah, after Gakpo, Wirtz combo. 53 - Salah blazes over in 4 on 4 - Isak and Gakpo in space. 65 - Isak is free when Salah shoots over.First really dangerous moment from Chelsea - Fernandes header on 80. 84 - 2 shots and decent saves from Marmadashvili. A pummelling someone said. 91 Fernandez header. Robbo less solid defensively?Last 10, more chaotic, though the main danger came from the one chance where Endo and Robbo could have done much better. We also have a couple of chances at the end (Szobo and Jones). Some players seemed focused on winning others not sure - Endo left wingThemes from elsewhere:Much chat about an overload on the left - not much evidence of it, save the Bradley yellow. Gakpo makes us look relatively solid on the left.Subs - Curtis, Andy Robbo. Help moving forward. We also moved Szobbo to RB and Grav to CB. But their subs gave them some energy especially in the last 10VVD brought up the challenge they are facing managing the grief of Diogo's passing.Chelsea hate segment:Cole Palmer in a space suit? He is typical Chelsea, just the worstCucurella - what a Sh*tLavia (who has played about 3 games) tries to whip up the crowdAnthony Taylor watch - loves to kill our momentum8th minute - imagined foul by Konate kills our momentum24 - Garnacho goes down without contact 26 - Salah non-foul30 - Caicedo challenge on Dom, nasty, no card of course34 - Bradley - yellow for Cucurella goes down with some contact39 - Garnacho dive….  45 goes down again without contact73 - hands in Isak's face 79 - Diabolical yellow on Szobo for more Cucurella nonsense82 - Foul by Malo Gusto on Gakpo - not given87 - gives a soft foul against Salah - guess who goes down (clue Garnacho has already gone off)5th best team in the league? We'll be back with a preview of the Manchester United game in quite short order. Thanks to Sean and Daz for joining me, Paul. And most of all, thank you dear listener for joining us.If you enjoyed the pod, please share it with a friend.
