Paul is riding the wave of success of his 2nd career spanning compilation "All The Best!". He has also been making the rounds on TV shows in Europe to promote his top selling single 'Once Upon A Long Ago' (also included on the UK "All The Best!" only). In the (audio only) interview conducted by Stefan Schlabritz & Slizzy Bob we hear Paul joke about his skills in the german language, the tracks chosen for All The Best!, working with Elvis Costello and Chris Witten to start a new band, and Once Upon A Long Ago. One of the darkest days for the UBP was in May 1990, when Vic Tayback, a.k.a. Mel on CBS' “Alice”, left this earth; and perhaps others. Despite taking place literal decades before the UBP began, Mr. Tayback's death caused a deep level of pain that has us forever kissing our own grits. Flash forward to June, 2025. Another entertainment hero is gone - one arguably bigger than Mr. Tayback - who helped define American music in the 1960's, and inspired Paul McCartney and The Beatles to reach arguably their greatest artistic heights.* (*Does not include “Now And Then”.) Indeed, the incredibly sad passing of Brian Wilson was felt deeply by the Gab Two; longtime Beach Boys fans who, in this episode, pay tribute to one of Macca's undying inspirations. To accompany and promote the record Paul held an intimate gathering of fans and friends at Abbey Road, recorded in Studio 2 to demonstrate some of the creative processes that he and The Beatles used to employ there and have a bit of fun along the way. Filmed on 28 July 2005 and originally broadcast on BBC2 17 December 2005 and PBS in the USA 27th February 2006 and directed by Simon Hilton "Chaos And Creation At Abbey Road" provides such an intimate glimpse of Macca at work playing familiar tunes in a whole new arrangement ('Band On The Run', 'Lady Madonna', 'I've Got A Feeling') among several from the forthcoming album which dropped in September of that year. Dust off your funny bone (actual NBC ad copy circa 1987), it's the long-awaited conclusion to T.J., Tony and Producer Casey's forensic deep dish into Paul McCartney's 1993 appearance on Saturday Night Live! Yes, the boys are combing through every Macca performance, each Clinton-era comedy sketch, and almost every opinion... On this episode we chose the 1977 Interview from an Australian TV program titled "Count Down." This recently surfaced on YouTube and to see the late 70s Wings trio ensconced in the privacy of #2 Studio at Abbey Road is pretty cool to witness. They appear bored at times (Denny especially) but Paul and Linda give some good sound bites here about what's to come. This was mainly used as a promotional tool for the then current single 'Mull of Kintyre.' The gentlemen interviewing Wings is Molly Meldrum. Orignally broadcasted on 24th December 1977. It's the finale of 1990 and Paul McCartney is drawing a historic year in his solo career to a close with a new single. Taken from his new Tripping the Live Fantastic package capturing the best performances from his whirlwind 89-90 World Tour, the single All My Trials captures Macca and the band at their most soulful. A fitting, poignant end to a year that would come to define Paul for the rest of his life, and secure his legacy as the 20th century's most prolific pop prodigy.
