But there's also a darker side — it has trolls, bullies and plenty of misinformation. Inspired by their own journeys, you'll hear how Liz Duck-Chong from TransHub and Mohammad Awad from the Muslim Peers Project are using the internet to provide support to their communities in ways they never experienced.
Following an incredible keynote, Jack Halberstam was joined on stage by Teddy Cook and Liz Duck-Chong for a discussion on the ways that this history and representation of trans bodies intersects with contemporary approaches to securing health equity and inclusion for trans and gender diverse people. The panel was facilitated by Associate Professor Christy Newman.

Liz Duck-Chong is a writer, sexual health nerd, photographer and musician who almost exclusively wears odd socks. She has had her work featured in the Sydney Morning Herald, Crikey, Meanjin, Kill Your Darlings, ABC Online, SBS Online, Archer Magazine, Junkee, and Overland. A proud trans and non binary woman, Liz is a true renaissance figure in the sense that most of them were really gay.
