In this solo episode, Michael Reddington takes a closer look at the concept of active listening and why it may not always be enough in high-stakes conversations.Active listening techniques like maintaining eye contact, nodding, paraphrasing, and reflecting emotions are widely taught as the foundation of good communication. But what happens when these behaviors create the appearance of listening without actually helping us capture the information that matters most?Michael explores the origins of active listening, how it developed in therapeutic environments, and why those same techniques can sometimes fall short in professional situations involving leadership, negotiation, investigation, and conflict. This episode challenges listeners to move beyond simply looking like they're listening and instead adopt a more strategic approach to communication. By recognizing that listening is a goal-oriented activity, we can better capture meaningful information, strengthen relationships, and move conversations toward productive outcomes. If you want to improve how you communicate, build trust, and navigate complex conversations, this episode will help you rethink what effective listening really looks like.Timestamps: (00:30) - The origins of active listening and early research(02:14) - Why active listening works well in therapeutic environments(03:35) - Traditional behaviors associated with active listening(05:05) - Why listening should be treated as a goal-oriented activity(06:28) - Appearing to listen vs actually listening(09:57) - How we deceive ourselves into thinking we listened(11:05) - The role of environmental awareness in conversations(12:27) - How robotic listening behaviors damage trust(14:50) - Why saying “I understand” can create more tension(16:37) - The risks of mirroring behavior in communication(18:12) - Matching behavior vs mirroring behavior(20:10) - When paraphrasing can backfire(22:11) - When traditional active listening works best(22:56) - Clarifying conversational goals before listening(23:40) - Increasing situational awareness in conversations(24:28) - Capturing strategically valuable information(25:11) - Building a conversational strategy to move relationships forward(26:01) - Final thoughts on evolving beyond traditional active listeningLinks and Resources: Active Listening by Carl R. Appearing as a guest on the Scott Adams School, Stefan Molyneux reflects on personal agency and the pull of despair while paying tribute to Scott Adams. He addresses the particular struggles confronting younger people today and argues that moral courage combined with genuine optimism carries far more weight than dwelling in dark or defeatist stories. Today on Too Opinionated, we're joined by actor Gary Hilborn, who appears as Trent Patterson, the Head of the Secret Service, in the hit Netflix political thriller The Night Agent. Gary discusses stepping into the high-stakes world of the White House and filming his very first scene—a challenging walk-and-talk sequence directed by Emmy-winning actor/director Adam Arkin. Despite first-day nerves, the moment became one of the most rewarding experiences of the shoot. An especially meaningful moment came when Gary stepped onto Trent's office set and noticed a National War College degree on the wall, a touching coincidence given that his late father was a U.S. Army colonel who studied at the sister institution, the Army War College. Beyond The Night Agent, Gary has appeared in several major television series including:
A statue of Trump and Epstein, in a ‘Jack and Rose' pose from Titanic, has mysteriously appeared on the National Mall in Washington DC. So, what's going on here?Joining Seán to discuss is Joe Heim, Reporter for the Washington Post…

In this episode, we perceive the arrival of a particular season, as depicted in Sangam Literary work, Aganaanooru 194, penned by Idaikkaadanaar. The verse is situated amidst the millet fields of the ‘Mullai’ or ‘Forest landscape’ and echoes the disappointment in a person’s heart. We return to the forests and take in images of farming, as we listen to the lady say these words to her confidante, when the man continues to remain parted away, having left her for a mission of war: “In this morning hour that has dispelled the deep darkness, when huge raindrops have fallen down, the land which had been split by the imprint of the plough, scattering dust on both sides, where the mud had been turned upside down in the moistened ground, appearing like torn red flesh, the long furrows in the red soil, which had been planted with many seeds, have now bloomed forth. Appearing as if herds of male deer are moving around, farmers wearing hats with pointed antler tips, pull out the weeds, in sync to the beat of resounding drums, amidst the blooming Kodo millet fields. Eating from the dark-backed, flourishing crop ears, a long peacock with a crested forehead, spreads its feathers, and flies to the branch of a solitary wild lemon tree with thick leaves, left uncut by farmers of this forest land, to serve as the shade for their afternoon meal. Sitting there, with the sound, akin to that made by maiden chasing parrots, the peacock calls aloud, in this rainy season. Isn't this the season, my friend, that he talked about in his words of consolation, when he left to fight in the war saying, ‘I will rush back in the decorated tall chariot, yoked with fast and fine horses with spreading manes, and be here, when that season arrives'?” Let’s tread on the vibrant red soil of the forests and unearth the beating heart beneath! The lady starts by talking about the time of the day, saying it’s dawn and the rains have just done pouring. She then talks about the red soil, which has been tamed with much difficulty by these forest farmers, using rugged ploughs, and tearing the land, as if cutting open a piece of meat. Then, she talks about how they had planted many seeds in these furrows and all their hard labour had borne fruit and the crops had risen up. However, weeds do abound and these farmers had been hard at work, wearing hats which made them seem like male deer. Wonder why they went for such an elaborate headgear! The other interesting thing about them is that, as they worked, drums were played and they did their hard work, keeping in tune with the beat of those drums, the lady describes. After all this care, the millets would no doubt flourish and it’s not just the farmers who benefit, but a peacock that loads up on the laden crop ears, and then, content, flies to the top of a single wild lime tree, left uncut by those farmers. And why did they spare the tree? Just making sure they had a spot to sit under and eat, in the afternoon soon! This peacock flies to the top of the tree, and seems to make the exact sounds of maiden chasing away parrots in the nearby mountains, the lady details. These vivid images have been presented by the lady to portray how the season of rains had arrived. And why is she worried? Because the man had promised that he would return by this season when he had left to fight his king’s war, but still there was no sign of him. It’s a simple statement declaring, ‘The rains are here, but he is not!’. However, this core is wrapped up in the striking images of people, animals, birds, land and agriculture, a gift which magically transports us to another time, another space!

It's Monday, March 2, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus United States and Israel bombed Iran The long-simmering threat of conflict between Washington, Jerusalem and Tehran erupted Saturday morning as the United States and Israel launched sweeping airstrikes against Iran, reports NBC News. The launch of “Operation Epic Fury” followed months of heated rhetoric and repeated warnings from President Trump about military intervention in Iran. U.S. and partner forces struck multiple targets, including Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps command and control facilities, Iranian air defense capabilities, missile and drone launch sites, and military airfields. Not only was Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei killed, but so was his top security adviser, his chief military secretary, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander, the Defense Minister, the Head of Iranian military intelligence, and former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, reports Axios and Israel National News. Trump: We will destroy Iran's “wicked, radical dictatorship” In an 8-minute address to America, President Donald Trump explained why he believed the attack on Iran was necessary. TRUMP: “Our objective is to defend the American people by eliminating imminent threats from the Iranian regime. For 47 years, the Iranian regime has chanted ‘Death to America' and waged an unending campaign of bloodshed and mass murder targeting the United States, our troops, and the innocent people in many, many countries.” The president laid out the litany of Iranian attacks from the 1979 U.S. Embassy Hostage Crisis in which dozens of Americans were taken hostage for 444 days and the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut that killed 241 soldiers to the attack on the U.S.S. Cole in 2000, the killing of U.S. soldiers in Iraq, and the Iranian-funded attack on Israel through Hamas on October 7, 2023. TRUMP: “For these reasons, the United States military is undertaking a massive and ongoing operation to prevent this very wicked, radical dictatorship from threatening America and our core national security interests. We are going to destroy their missiles and raze their missile industry to the ground. It will be totally obliterated. We're going to annihilate their navy. We're going to ensure that the region's terrorist proxies can no longer destabilize the region or the world.” Isaiah 10:1-2 says, “Woe to those who make unjust laws, to those who issue oppressive decrees, to deprive the poor of their rights and withhold justice from the oppressed of my people, making widows their prey and robbing the fatherless.” President Trump expressed concern for the safety of U.S. soldiers. TRUMP: “The lives of courageous American heroes may be lost and we may have casualties. That often happens in war. We pray for every service member as they selflessly risk their lives to ensure that Americans, and our children, will never be threatened by a nuclear-armed Iran. We ask God to protect all of our heroes in harm's way. And we trust that with His help, the men and women of the armed forces will prevail.” Sadly, three U.S. service members have been killed in action, as part of the Trump administration's “Operation Epic Fury,” reports NewsNation.com. Iranians celebrating in the streets Anti-regime protesters in southern Iran tore down a statue of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in celebration of his death on Saturday, reports The Telegraph. In Tehran, loud cheers echoed from rooftops and through the streets. Listen. (audio of Iranians celebrating) Celebratory music played, car horns honked and fireworks were set off in parts of the capital at around 11pm local time. They were joined by Iranians across the world who celebrated the Supreme Leader's downfall after he was killed in a barrage of US and Israeli missile strikes early on Saturday morning. Senator Ted Cruz: Bombing Iran is “single most important decision of [Trump's] presidency” Appearing on CBS' Face the Nation, Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas applauded President Trump's decision to bomb Iran. CRUZ: “President Trump's decision to launch this decisive action against Iran is the single most important decision of his presidency. He is taking this action because the government of Iran is a profound and malign influence. “They have been the leading state sponsor of terrorism for 47 years. They have, over that time, killed nearly 1,000 Americans. They provide more than 90% of the funding for Hamas. They provide more than 90% of the funding for Hezbollah, the Iranian Ayatollah, was, until yesterday, actively trying to murder the President of the United States, Donald J Trump.” Senator Lindsey Graham: “The mothership of terrorism is about to go down!” Appearing on Fox & Friends, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina was grateful the American people re-elected President Trump in 2024. GRAHAM: “My feeling today is that I'm very glad that President Trump won and Kamala Harris lost. Unfortunately, the modern Democratic Party is pathetic in the face of evil. “The difference between Donald Trump and our Democratic colleagues, he's common sense. He understands the world. He's of the mindset that the Ayatollah is Hitler in a robe, wearing a turban; that he's not capable of changing his ways. “Donald Trump does not get us entangled in forever wars, but he sure stands up to the bad guys, and he makes us safer. This is the most consequential decision any President has made since 1979.” Senator Graham predicted a major re-set in the Middle East because of “Operation Epic Fury.” GRAHAM: “If the regime falls, I think Saudi Arabia, the keeper of the holy mosque and Mecca and Medina, the center of Islam, will go back to the table to try to do peace with Israel. We were close before, before October the seventh. October the seventh was designed to stop normalization between Saudi Arabia and Israel. “I think when this regime collapses, we'll be back at the table of normalization. If Saudi Arabia recognizes Israel it will be the biggest change in 1,000 years in the history of the MidEast. If this regime falls -- Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis terrorist network supported by Iran -- will collapse, slowly but surely. “The mothership of terrorism is about to go down. There's a new dawn coming in the Mideast.” Mass shooting in Austin leaves 3 dead and 14 wounded Three people are dead and 14 have been injured after a mass shooting at a popular bar along West Sixth Street in downtown Austin, Texas during the early morning hours of Sunday, March 1, reports the San Antonio Express-News. The shooting took place at Buford's, a popular bar along the West Sixth Street entertainment strip. Anniversary of John Wesley's death And finally, John Wesley, the English evangelist, who was a principal leader of a revival movement within the Church of England known as Methodism, died at the age of 87 on this day, March 2nd in 1791. Wesley placed his faith in Christ on May 24, 1738. Referring to our Savior Jesus Christ, Luke wrote in Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” In his early ministry years, Wesley was barred from preaching in many parish churches and the Methodists were persecuted. Under Wesley's direction, Methodists became leaders in many social issues of the day, including the abolition of slavery. He became known for the Wesley Covenant Prayer. It says, “I am no longer my own, but Thine. Put me to what Thou wilt, rank me with whom Thou wilt. Put me to doing, put me to suffering. Let me be employed for Thee or laid aside for Thee, exalted for Thee or brought low for Thee. Let me be full, let me be empty. Let me have all things, let me have nothing. I freely and heartily yield all things to Thy pleasure and disposal. And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Thou art mine, and I am Thine. So be it. And the covenant which I have made on Earth, let it be ratified in Heaven. Amen.” Wesley wrote hymns including “O For A Thousand Tongues To Sing.” “O for a thousand tongues to sing my great Redeemer's praise, the glories of my God and King, the triumphs of His grace! My gracious Master and my God, assist me to proclaim, to spread thro' all the Earth abroad the honors of Thy name.” John Wesley became widely respected, and by the end of his life, was described as "the best-loved man in England.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, March 2nd, in the year of our Lord 2026. Friends of the Rosary,The Transfiguration of Christ is closely tied to the Passion, as it occurs just before Jesus' journey to Jerusalem and death. It acts as a preview of his resurrected, glorified body.In today's Gospel, the Second Sunday of Lent (Matthew 17:1-9), the transfigured Lord Jesus, accompanied by Moses and Elias — representing the Law and the Prophets — reveals His divine glory, foreshadowing His resurrection from the dead.Appearing in dazzling white on a mountain, Christ confirms his identity as the Son of God, connects his divine nature to the coming Passion, and reinforces the disciples Peter, James, and John's faith before his crucifixion. He is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end of all things, the Holy One of God who brings our own transfiguration as the goal to attain. The Transfiguration of Jesus (Matthew 17, Mark 9, Luke 9), a solemnity celebrated on August 6, highlights Christ as the fulfillment of the Old Testament as the Divine Voice."This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased; listen to him!" proclaimed the voice of God.Ave Maria!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! There are many things in life that can't be understood fully. But that doesn't mean that they can't be understood truly. Aspects of the return of Christ fall into this category. The timing of Christ's coming is a mystery to all of us, but what is most important to know and understand is clear and unmistakeable: Jesus is coming quickly and suddenly.
Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
Why murder instead of divorce? That's the question the Kouri Richins case forces us to confront.Prosecutors allege Kouri Richins poisoned her husband Eric with fentanyl, that she made multiple attempts before the one that killed him, and that she stood to gain nearly two million dollars in life insurance while carrying on an affair. But financial motive doesn't explain the psychology. Plenty of people want out of marriages with money at stake. What makes someone decide killing is the answer?Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott examines the internal logic of partners who allegedly choose murder over leaving. With over three decades working with both victims and perpetrators of violence, Scott breaks down what makes this choice feel rational to the person making it.We analyze the language prosecutors allege Kouri used—feeling "stuck" and "trapped," believing it would be "better if Eric died." We examine what that framing reveals about how someone in this mindset perceives their options and their spouse. We look at the method. Poisoning requires sustained deception, repeated attempts, watching suffering without intervening. It's not impulsive—it's calculated. Forensic experts call this "proactive staging" where the murder method becomes the alibi. What type of personality chooses this approach? And we examine the alleged performance that followed. Writing a children's book about grief. Appearing on television as a mourning mother. Performing widowhood publicly while allegedly knowing the truth. The A24 film Marty Supreme brings the world of table tennis into the cultural spotlight, it also quietly parallels a powerful real-life story behind the sport. Appearing in two scenes in the film is Yasiris Ortiz, a professional table tennis champion and Bronx-based community leader whose journey from international competition to grassroots youth empowerment mirrors the film's central themes of discipline, belief, and dreaming beyond circumstance. Ortiz's appearance in Marty Supreme is not a performance in the traditional sense; she is not portraying a fictional character, but rather bringing authenticity to the screen as a real athlete whose life has been shaped by the sport. For Ortiz, table tennis has never been just a game; it has been a tool for transformation, one she now uses to create opportunity for young people across New York City. Born and raised in Bayaguana, Dominican Republic, Ortiz discovered table tennis at a young age and quickly fell in love with the sport after competing in her first tournament. That passion carried her beyond her hometown and onto the international stage, representing the Dominican Republic as a member of the national table tennis team at the cadet, junior, and senior levels. Through competition, she traveled the world and learned firsthand how sport can open doors far beyond what once seemed possible. In 2016, Ortiz moved to New York City with her family, facing the challenges of adapting to a new country, learning English, continuing her education, and rebuilding her athletic life from the ground up. Unsure whether she would be able to continue competing, she spent countless hours riding the subway across the city in search of table tennis clubs where she could practice and stay connected to the sport that had shaped her identity. What began as persistence soon became purpose. That purpose crystallized when Ortiz began teaching table tennis at an elementary school in the South Bronx. There, she witnessed something transformative: students arrived to class excited, engaged, and eager to learn. Through table tennis, they developed focus, confidence, discipline, and joy—qualities that carried into the classroom and beyond. As interest grew, neighboring schools began reaching out, and what started as a single program evolved into Spin & Learn, an education and wellness organization founded in 2020 that integrates table tennis with academics, physical fitness, and social-emotional learning (SEL). Since its launch, Spin & Learn has partnered with more than 45 public schools across New York City, serving thousands of K–12 students through in-school enrichment, after-school programming, wellness days, assemblies, and author visits connected to Ortiz's children's book, “Yasi the Champion.” The organization has become known for meeting students where they are, using movement and play to build lifelong skills, confidence, and a sense of belonging. It delivers high-quality programming at scale through its strategic partnerships with leaders in the global table tennis industry, including Paddle Palace, the leading equipment supplier in North America, and Stiga Sports as Ortiz's official partner. Now, as Marty Supreme brings renewed visibility to the sport, Ortiz is marking a new chapter with the official launch of the Spin & Learn Foundation, a newly established 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to expand access to table tennis, wellness, and enrichment programs beyond the school setting and into the broader community. The Spin & Learn Foundation was created because families kept asking for a place where their children could continue training after leaving their school programs. Ortiz saw how quickly access could disappear once students moved on, even though the interest and talent were still there. The Foundation is about creating continuity, making sure young people and families have a place to grow, train, and belong. While Spin & Learn operates primarily within schools, the Foundation is focused on long-term, community-based impact. Its mission is to provide programs for economically disadvantaged individuals across diverse communities, ensuring access to enrichment opportunities through table tennis that promote physical and mental wellness, build personal resilience, and develop leadership skills for lifelong success. Through future partnerships with community centers and shared spaces, the Foundation aims to serve not only youth, but also families, adults, and seniors who may not otherwise have access to structured recreational and wellness programming. Ortiz sees a meaningful connection between the themes of Marty Supreme and the work she has spent years building, noting that she relates deeply to the film because she came to this country without a clear path, driven only by a dream. Everything she has built since then, including a table tennis program that has reached thousands of students, started with believing in that dream. As table tennis reaches new audiences through film and popular culture, Ortiz believes the moment carries responsibility as well as opportunity. She emphasizes that representation matters, but representation paired with access is what creates real change. Seeing the sport on screen is powerful, but what matters most is what happens off screen—in schools, in communities, and in spaces where young people need support and mentorship. With the launch of Spin & Learn Foundation, Ortiz is working to ensure that the attention surrounding Marty Supreme translates into something lasting: expanded opportunity, deeper community engagement, and a growing network of spaces where sport, education, and wellness intersect. From the big screen to the Bronx, Yasiris Ortiz's story continues to unfold, not as fiction, but as a living example of how belief, discipline, and access can change lives. To learn more, visit Spin & Learn online at https://spinandlearn.com/, call 718-690-1673, or email info@spinandlearn.com. Spin & Learn is an educational and wellness organization that combines table tennis, physical fitness training, academics, and social-emotional learning to create fun, active, and meaningful learning experiences for students, primarily serving K–12 students across New York City in partnership with public schools and community organizations. - Looking for that extra spark to level up your life? This week, we turn our gaze upward to the Winter Triangle—three stars, one fleeting pattern, and a single, quiet mention in The Book of Magic that carries far more weight than it first appears.Appearing at the height of winter and fading predictably by season's end, the Winter Triangle becomes a lens for understanding February as a time of purification, inner dedication, and subtle awakening. We unpack the science behind the stars, why Hoffman chose a pattern that disappears on schedule, and how grief, winter magic, Imbolc, Candlemas, Celtic winter goddesses, and Pisces season all point to the same truth: some transitions are orderly, inevitable, and deeply human. This episode isn't about finding comfort in the sky—it's about recognizing when a season has already begun to change, whether we feel ready or not.SOCIALS:Link TreePatreonInstagramHERO SOURCES DISCLAIMER:DISCLAIMER:The Magnolia Street Podcast intends to discuss the movie, “Practical Magic” in its entirety. In the wake of the October 7, 2023 massacre in Israel, countless individuals around the world searched for ways to respond. For Marlene Kolangi, a New York-based fashion designer and entrepreneur, the answer was clear: dedicate her life to helping the children left behind. Kolangi, founder of the successful bridal and modest fashion brand Kaituz in Queens, is widely known in the modest fashion and wig communities for her custom designs that empower women to feel beautiful and confident. But after October 7, her professional focus took a dramatic turn. Deeply shaken by the terrorist attacks and the devastating toll on Israeli families, Kolangi founded Israel Orphans of 10/7, an organization devoted exclusively to supporting children who lost one or both parents in the massacre and subsequent war. Appearing on Episode 47 of the Alan Skorski Reports podcast, Kolangi shared how the tragedy transformed her life and mission. “I couldn't just sit back,” she explained. “These children lost everything in a single day. They need more than sympathy — they need stability, support, and a future.” Her organization provides both immediate and long-term assistance, including: Emergency financial aid for basic needs Long-term savings accounts for each orphan Funding for life milestones such as bar and bat mitzvahs, education, and weddings Emotional care services, including play therapy and personalized support Kolangi emphasized that her work goes beyond writing checks. She personally travels to Israel, meeting families face-to-face, listening to their stories, and delivering assistance directly — whether through funds, gift cards, clothing, or ongoing personal relationships. “The most important thing is dignity,” she said. “These children should not feel forgotten. They should feel embraced by the entire Jewish people.” A single mother herself, Kolangi has been profiled in several Jewish media outlets, including Arutz Sheva, The Jewish Link, and VINnews, where she has been described as a “superhero” for transforming her business platform into a vehicle for communal healing. She also speaks at Jewish inspirational gatherings and communal events, including Project Inspire, where she encourages others to turn pain into purpose. According to Kolangi, the mission is long-term. While global attention may shift, the needs of October 7's youngest victims remain. “This is not a six-month project,” she noted. “These children will grow up with this loss. We are committed to walking with them for years — through school, through milestones, through life.” Supporters can learn more or contribute to Israel Orphans of 10/7 through its fundraising platform, often linked via CauseMatch under the Healing Heroes campaign. As the Jewish world continues to grapple with the aftermath of October 7, Kolangi's work stands as a powerful example of grassroots leadership — channeling heartbreak into hope, and tragedy into tangible action for Israel's most vulnerable. -VIN News Donations can be made through: https://causematch.com/healingheroes Contact the Organization: info@israelorphansof10seven.org Subscribe to Alan Skorski Reports: www.youtube.com/@AlanSkorskiReports Alan Skorski Reports 12FEB2026 - PODCAST

Appearing strong is often praised as discipline, resilience, and maturity. But what happens when strength never softens? In this episode, we explore the hidden biological and emotional cost of always holding it together. Chronic vigilance, digestive dysregulation, emotional isolation, and fatigue that rest doesn't fix aren't personal failures — they're signals from a nervous system that never learned it was safe to stand down. This conversation unpacks how strength becomes armor, why the body compensates when rest feels unsafe, and how true regulation begins not with effort — but with restraint. In this episode, we listen to a pointed refusal to a request, as depicted in Sangam Literary work, Aganaanooru 176, penned by Marutham Paadiya Ilankadunko. The verse is situated amidst the flourishing fields of the ‘Marutham’ or ‘Farmlands landscape’ and presents a precise portrait of the other woman. A long song and trip to this prosperous but troubled landscape, where we get to hear the confidante, say these words to the man, when he comes seeking entry into the lady’s house, after being in the company of a courtesan for a while: “Appearing like a sea, as far as the eyes can see, spreads the land. With deep roots, akin to mature tubers that split the earth, with hollow thick stems, appearing akin to bamboos, green leaves, akin to an elephant's ears, fleshy buds, bursting in between here and there, akin to upraised stakes, are the many lotus flowers that sway here and there in between, like smiling faces. In this field, blooming with lotuses and resounding with bird songs, having tall eyes, akin to neem flowers, a water crab fearing a white bird that's searching for prey, scuttles on dark, muddy spaces, where rattle-pods have sprouted thickly, and making marks, akin to pallor spots, rushes to hide inside its water-filled mud pits. Such is your town, O lord! Wearing a fine garment of leaves and flowers, woven with thick vines of ‘vayalai' creepers, growing in the house, and radiant flowers of white lily, glowing with the beauty of dancing together with maiden at the town festival, having flower-like, beautiful, kohl-streaked eyes, and forearms, decked with fine jewels and small bangles, that lover of yours seems to have sulked with you when you happened to simply loosen your long embrace! She has been crying with yearning, ruining the painted beauty of her face, making pallor spots, akin to melted gold, spread on her form. Cracking her knuckles many, many times, she makes her delicate fingers turn red. That maiden, whose sharp teeth are blunted, now roams the town entire in search of you! Does she have the fate like the lady, to live patiently without you, after bearing and rearing your son, who has a grass-like tuft of hair, and to be shut within the expense of this grain-filled, wide mansion?” Let’s chase some field crabs and learn what’s cooking in this part of the world! The confidante starts with a long description of the man’s town, bringing before our eyes, the expansive fields, where lotuses are blooming, and she builds a stack of similes calling the bloomed lotus flowers as smiling faces, the buds standing tall as stakes, the leaves as elephant’s ears, the roots as firm and mature tubers and the land itself as the vast and spreading sea. After setting the scene, she zooms on to a particular creature there, a crab, who tall eyes are compared to neem flowers. She then depicts how this animal fears a hovering bird, looking for prey, and rushes to hide in its little mud hole. Such is your town, the confidante tells the man. No doubt she means to conceal some meaning here but we’ll get to that in a moment! Then she goes on to talk about a particular woman, a courtesan who happens to be the man’s lover. She etches the flowers and leaves that the woman wears, and how the courtesan dances exuberantly in the town festivities. Then, she describes the woman’s eyes and bejewelled forearms. After all the framing, the confidante comes to the crux and says how that courtesan had started quarrelling with the man, just because he happened to loosen his embrace. That lover of his seems to have been filled with much agony, as visible from her tears that ruined her painted beauty, the golden pallor spots and her cracking of the knuckles too many times, reddening those slender fingers. The confidante talks about how that courtesan is searching all over town, to catch hold of the man again. She contrasts the state of the lady, who after giving birth and rearing the man’s child, had to stay within their wealthy mansion, no matter where the man went or what he did, and concludes by sarcastically remarking that the courtesan has no such restrictions! In the scene of the scuttling crab and the hovering bird, the confidante places a metaphor for how slander spread by the townsfolk had driven the man back to his home, seeking the lady’s company, and it’s not true love that has brought him there. In essence, it’s a refusal to allow the man to return back, after his escapades with the courtesan. Yet again, the natural world echoes the relationship dynamics vividly. The verse also presents the implicit societal rules in the contrasting behaviour of the lady and the courtesan, the former, characterised by patience and restraint, and the latter, by freedom and impulsiveness!

It's Monday, February 2nd, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Federal judge upholds right of 4,000 Myanmar immigrants to stay A federal judge has ordered a temporary halt to the U.S. government's plan to terminate Temporary Protected Status for nationals of Myanmar living in the United States. That's a shift from the Trump administration's recent assessment that conditions in Myanmar have improved, reports International Christian Concern. The ruling interrupts a move that had signaled U.S. support for the junta's upcoming elections and marks a departure from the administration's controversial policy to end Temporary Protected Status for Burmese nationals. On January 23, U.S. District Judge Matthew Kennelly in Chicago ruled that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem's decision to end Temporary Protected Status for Myanmar migrants lacked a legitimate basis and therefore cannot take effect while a legal challenge proceeds. The judge blocked the Trump administration from ending protections for roughly 4,000 Myanmar nationals and scheduled a hearing on February 6 on the merits of the case. In his written opinion, Judge Kennelly concluded that there was no genuine review of the conditions in Myanmar that underpin the decision and that the termination appeared more likely motivated by the administration's broader objective of curbing immigration and eliminating Temporary Protected Status generally, rather than by any evidence that conditions back home have materially improved. According to Open Doors, Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, is the 14th most oppressive country worldwide for Christians. DOJ released 3 million pages, 180,000 images, 2,000 videos of Epstein files The Department of Justice announced the release of millions of new pages from the files of the late sexual predator and human trafficker Jeffrey Epstein on Friday, reports The Blaze. In a press conference, Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche explained the details. BLANCHE: “Today, we are producing more than 3 million pages, including more than 2,000 videos and 180,000 images. Just a quick note about the videos and images. “The 2,000 videos and 180,000 images are not all videos and images taken by Mr. Epstein or someone around him. They include large quantities of commercial p*rnography and images that were seized from Epstein's devices, but which he did not take, or that someone around him did not take. We're releasing more than 3 million pages today, and not the 6 million pages that we collected. “I want to address what we didn't produce. The categories of documents withheld include those permitted under the Act to be withheld, files that contain personally identified information of victims or victims' personal and medical files and similar files, the disclosure of which would constitute a clearly unwarranted invasion of personal privacy. Any depiction of child p*rnography was obviously excluded. Anything that would jeopardize an active federal investigation. And finally, anything that depicts or contain images of death, physical abuse or injury also was not produced. “To protect victims, we redacted every woman depicted in any image or video, with the exception of Ms. [Ghislaine] Maxwell. We did not redact images of any men.” Ecclesiastes 12:14 says, “God shall bring every deed into judgment, including every secret thing, whether it be good or whether it be evil.” Deputy Attorney General Blanche also said that the White House had no involvement in the review of the latest documents. He added, "They had no oversight over this review. They did not tell this department how to do our review, what to look for, what to redact, or what to not redact." Dept. of Justice arrested former CNN anchor Don Lemon Former CNN anchor Don Lemon was arrested by federal authorities and charged with federal civil rights crimes in connection with a protest at a Minnesota church service last month, reports NBC News. Demonstrators gathered at the service because one of its pastors, David Easterwood, allegedly works for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The protesters said Easterwood is the acting director of an ICE field office in St. Paul. In a Friday post on X, Attorney General Pam Bondi said Lemon, age 59, and three others — Trahern Crews, Georgia Fort and Jamael Lundy — were arrested "in connection with the coordinated attack on Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota." The Department of Homeland Security said that Lemon was charged with conspiracy and interfering with the First Amendment rights of worshipers. Cities Church Lead Pastor Jonathan Parnell said, “We are grateful that the Department of Justice acted swiftly to protect Cities Church so that we can continue to faithfully live out the church's mission to worship Jesus and make Him known.” Lemon's attorney, Abbe Lowell, said that Lemon was taken into custody by federal agents in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy Awards. Appearing on CNBC, David Bahnsen, chief investment officer of The Bahnsen Group, said this. BAHNSEN: “He has the respect and credibility of the financial markets. I worked with him at Morgan Stanley. Thought very highly of him. Look, there was no person who was going to get this job who wasn't going to be cutting rates in the short term. However, I think longer term I believe he will be a credible candidate.” Bahnsen referred to Trump's desire to lower interest rates to spur further economic activity, which Powell has opposed. Matthew 18:6 says, “But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” Florida church banned from worshipping And finally, Coastal Family Church in Flagler Beach, Florida, is pushing back against a Seventh Judicial Circuit Court judge's temporary injunction issued last Thursday, which bans it from holding worship services in a unit they purchased in a strip mall where property covenants prohibit large gatherings, reports The Christian Post. Circuit Judge Sandra Upchurch wrote that the church is “prohibited from allowing public assemblies put on by any entity to occur there.” Liberty Counsel, the Christian legal rights law firm representing the church, filed an appeal to the Fifth District Court of Appeals last Monday, arguing that the mall's ban on public gatherings “is an unconstitutional restriction on the First Amendment rights of speech, assembly, and religious exercise, and violates Florida law by preventing the church from using its own property to gather and worship.” Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, February 2nd, in the year of our Lord 2026.
