This is a republishing of an archived episode with Carl Waggett. There are some people who are able to articulate concepts and feelings in a kind of perfect, let's-get-to-the-heart-of-the-matter way for a particular group of people, and Carl is that person for the first responder tribe.Carl's been a full-time firefighter for the past 14 years, and Acting Captain for 4 of them. After a fellow firefighter and close friend of Carl's ended his own life, Carl removed himself from the front line trucks only to be diagnosed with PTSD a short time afterward.Carl says he's learning that there are many sides to this very intelligent disorder, and would simply like to share his experiences in the hope that others understand that PTSD is more of a winnable battle than you think. Carl started his podcast, PTSD Bunker Gear For Your Brain, after his experiences with PTSD and to help other first responders. In This Episode:Carl's websiteCarl on FacebookCarl on TwitterCarl's podcast: PTSD Bunker Gear For Your Brain---What's new with The Trauma Therapist Project! The Trauma 5: gold nuggets from my 700+ interviewsThe Trauma Therapist Newsletter: a monthly resource of information and inspiration dedicated to trauma therapists. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5739761/advertisement

Join Firefighter/Podcaster Carl Waggett and I discuss PTSD Bunker Gear for the Brain and his extremely unique take on Mental Health Stigma. One of the most eye opening episodes we have had yet!!My Name is Carl Waggett I’m 43, and I’ve been a full-time firefighter for the past 15 years as well as an Acting Captain for 4 of them. Separated with two children, the 3 of us connected to a 911 fire dispatcher and her two kids. After a close co-worker of mine had ended his life, I removed myself from the front line trucks only to diagnosed with PTSD a short time after. I am learning there are many sides to this brilliant disorder. I simply would like to share my experiences in hopes that others understand that PTSD is more of a winnable battle then you think. I do this buy releasing 3 podcasts a week as well as doing a FB LIVE 3 times a weekPlaces you can hear my message:FaceBook:https://www.facebook.com/carl.waggettYouTube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC1CaHPbBb_bMjhSWI0SXTtATwitter:https://twitter.com/PTSDBunkerGear?lang=enYou can also find us on I tunes under PTSD Bunker Gear For Your Brain

This week I’m proud to announce that I have a firefighter, Carl Waggett, back on the podcast. (Carl was a guest back on episode 229 of The Trauma Therapist | Podcast.) Carl’s on a mission to help others heal from PTSD. He’s got a podcast, he’s doing Facebook Live, and he’s on YouTube. With everything he’s got going on I think it’s fair to say that he’s put together a pretty amazing tour de force, and all with the goal of helping others heal, and avoiding some of the missteps he took along his journey. Carl’s been a full-time firefighter for the past 14 years, and Acting Captain for 4 of them.  After a fellow-firefighter and close friend of Carl’s ended his own life, Carl removed himself from the front line trucks only to be diagnosed with PTSD a short time afterward.
