Nesta entrevista ao Podcast do IMB, Matheus explica por que decidiu utilizar a concepção Austríaca de Roger W. Garrison e contrapô-la às escolas de pensamento econômico representadas pelos economistas James Estey e Wesley Mitchell. Ele também apontou a diferença teórica entre ambas no que se refere à origem dos ciclos econômicos e em relação aos aspectos temporais e causais. Outros pontos interessantes abordados na monografia e explicados por Matheus neste Podcast do IMB são de que forma o núcleo fundamental da Escola Austríaca, formado pela ação humana, tempo e conhecimento, colide com o núcleo do paradigma neoclássico; qual a grande virtude do subjetivismo da Escola Austríaca na comparação com as outras escolas do pensamento econômico; e o principal problema teórico identificado no paradigma neoclássico na comparação com as bases filosóficas da Escola Austríaca.
