AL sat and had a great chat with Phil Gillam about his fantastic annual, The Shrewsbury Review. A stunning book that perfectly illustrates the town. From the beautiful buildings, the inspirational women of the town and even a 100 question quiz. We were sat in the middle of Shrewsbury Market Hall (thanks Darren from GinDifferent) having a very relaxed chat where we pay homage to some of Shrewsbury's budding champions, including Mr Gillam himself. Phil talks about the hard work that has been put into putting this book together and having seen the book for ourselves we can tell you, it's a thing of beauty. The perfect "Coffee Book Table" as AL puts it! I've never had much pride for where I lived, until I moved to Shrewsbury and it's the pride shown in people like Lorraine Fletcher, Sarah Hopper, Katy Rink and Phil that has inspired me to do what I do. The Shrewsbury Review is the perfect compliment to such a wonderful town. - AL
AL catches up with Sarah Hopper, who runs the delightful Ferndell B&B. When they last spoke the world was a different place, yet Sarah was still running a very exciting treasure hunt across the town, very much like she is still today. The emphasis may have changed a little, with the B&B closed due to Covid, generating a bit of funding to survive is to be expected, yet a tenner to get the opportunity to take the family on a fun game across the town is a bargain. Away from the treasure hunt, we discuss what it's like living in an empty B&B, what Sarah misses the most and what plans she has when the world opens up again. We also flirt around discussions about the Big Town Plan and what we think about things that are being suggested.
Christine and James are joined once again by Sarah Hopper! The crew mulls over why clubs suck because lets be real...they kind of suck! Listen to figure out why and to hear our takes on episode 5 of How I Met Your Mother.
Christine and James are joined one again by the sexiest architect out there: Sarah Hopper! The trio follows Ted's desperate attempt at rejuvenating a forgotten relationship along with a forgotten shirt as well as Robin's crappy work situation.
It's the Pilot! Christine and James are joined by new to the show friend Sarah Hopper. They discuss character traits given in this episode, Ted & Robin dynamic, apartment decor, and much much more!
I finally got to sit with a bit of a Shrewsbury legend. Sarah Hopper who runs the Ferndell B&B and oh my days what a great interview it was! Sarah has a really infectious enthusiasm and great outlook on life that absolutely comes out in this episode. With a whole lot of energy and a huge appreciation for what she does, you cannot help but be inspired by her. Make sure you listen out for me being dippy and not knowing who a certain celeb is and the Sarah's jam story (which blew my mind!). you will get a feel for how life is for a family that live in and operate a busy Bed and Breakfast with a very good reputation. This episode was a real joy to put together, Thank you Sarah!
