INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/intrusion When Stephen Hitchell released The Seduction of Silence in 2009 under his Intrusion alias, the double-CD immediately established itself as a landmark in the dub techno continuum. Across deep, glacial chords, cavernous bass and hypnotic atmospheres, Hitchell expanded the Berlin/Detroit lineage into something spiritual and introspective – a meditative art form rooted in emotion, texture and stillness rather than club-function alone. Sixteen years on, The Seduction of Silence returns in its most definitive form, with both Part 1 and Part 2 now finally available on vinyl for the first time. Remastered and cut by Stefan Betke (POLE), the records unlock new depth and dimensionality, offering a fully immersive experience for both longstanding admirers and new listeners. Part 1 traces the genesis of Intrusion, sparked by Hitchell's rediscovery of a Sequential Circuits Prophet 2000 sampler containing fragments of his '90s experiments. Revived during a period of transition – long hours in record distribution, a move to Chicago's lakeside, impending fatherhood – those sounds became the foundation for weighty yet introspective dub, heard vividly in Montego Bay and Intrusion Dub. Part 2 carries a more expansive, improvisational feel, influenced by the late Phillip C. Hertz, Hitchell's colleague at Crosstalk Distribution. Recorded through live jams and experimental sessions, this chapter drifts into deeper ambient-dub territory, paying tribute to collaboration, community and the fluidity of sound. Together, both parts form a deeply personal document of life, art and devotion to sound. Alongside this feature, Hitchell shares a live recording from his New York debut at Public Records in July 2025, hosted by Zen/Echo – an intimate Intrusion performance in full analog drift. Cindy Leong is a Tāmaki-based painter whose practice probes abstraction as a medium for meditation. Driven by Eastern philosophy, the works cultivate a quality of stillness, inviting a quiet contemplation whereby time is paused for a moment of equanimity – enticing a reflection of the self and the surrounding forces of our environments that sit in tension and harmony with one another. For Leong, her artmaking process is just as meditative as she intends the works to be received. Her solo exhibition, A Moment's Interlude, opens tonight at Public Record. Each work taking the form of a diptych, Leong applies muted, monochromatic colours drawn from nature, combining oil with incense ash on linen to build these textural paintings. Her mark-making moves across the canvas unrestrained in tension with the grid that holds the structure of their form. Ahead of the exhibition's opening, Sofia had a kōrero with Cindy Leong about A Moment's Interlude and her overall practice.

A clash erupted this week between Mayor Justin Bibb's administration and Cleveland City Council, led by its president, Blaine Griffin. A council aide downloaded thousands of unredacted documents from a public records database, one he was allowed to access. The administration says some of those documents contained sensitive information, such as addresses, Social Security numbers or medical information that is typically redacted before public release. According to Griffin, Bibb's people called for the council aide's firing, which he characterized as a strong-arm tactic. The aide did nothing wrong and is going nowhere, he said. The story begins our discussion of the week's news of the Friday “Reporters Roundtable.”

Misha Wurman is a professional bartender and cocktail creator. If you want to get one of Misha's original cocktails, here's 2 options of where you can visit him bartending— Paradise Lost (Tuesdays) 100 2nd Ave., New York, NY, 10003 Public Records upstairs cocktail lounge (Friday/Saturday) 233 Butler St, Brooklyn, NY 11217 Misha Wurman is 27-year-old bartender who Dr. Lisa has basically watched grow up since he was born. He's got this really interesting mixed background - Afro-Caribbean on his mom's side and Russian/Swedish/Jewish on his dad's side. Growing up was pretty complicated because he'd spend weekdays with his mom and grandma in Spanish Harlem, then weekends with his dad in this fancy SoHo loft. When his mom got sick, he ended up living with his dad's parents in Rhode Island for over six years. How He Got Into Bartending Misha went to Hampshire College to study film, but while he was there, he discovered craft cocktails at this bar called The Dancer on the Lower East Side. Now he works at two spots - Paradise Lost and Public Records - making these fancy $18-28 cocktails. He's got this whole creative approach where he calls it "making potions" and comes up with wild combinations like a white mezcal Negroni with cold brew. Every drink he makes has its own story behind it. What Makes Him Good At It The thing is, all that bouncing between different family situations as a kid actually made him really good at reading people and handling different personalities. He sees bartending as more than just mixing drinks - it's about meeting people where they're at emotionally, whether they're out having fun or dealing with something heavy. He loves how collaborative the whole cocktail scene is, and you can tell he's found a way to blend his artistic side with his natural people skills.

EASY LISTENING DEP'T.: “Zoran Mamdani,” the Times writes, “is unleashing a full-scale charm offensive of private meetings, phone calls, and public promises aimed at wooing top party leaders, donors, and activists,” and runs through a list of the meetings that he's taken with influence groups and elected officials. But underneath that, it's a story about the lack of sophistication on the side that considers itself more sophisticated. “In his meetings,” the Times writes, “Mr. Mamdani has surprised some Democrats with his affability and ability to listen to their concerns, perhaps hinting at his willingness to make some concessions.” If you're expressing surprise in July of 2025, that Zoran Mamdani is friendly and a good listener, what you're saying is that your understanding of New York City politics lags considerably behind that of the 573,000 people who voted for him. In this episode, Niall asks: Should juvenile criminal records be wiped clean once someone turns 18, or should past offenses follow them into adulthood? The discussion is sparked by a growing debate over whether young offenders deserve a fresh start or if their past mistakes should remain on record. Some callers think everyone deserves a second chance. They argue that teenagers make mistakes, and those shouldn't define them for the rest of their lives. A minor offense at 15—like shoplifting or a fight—shouldn't ruin job prospects or future opportunities. They believe wiping juvenile records at 18 allows young people to move on, contribute to society, and avoid being trapped in a cycle of crime. However, some acknowledge that serious crimes should still be treated differently, with records sealed but not erased immediately. While other callers feel actions have consequences. They argue that turning 18 doesn't magically erase what someone did at 16, especially if the crime was serious. Employers, colleges, and even the justice system should have access to juvenile records to assess character and risk. Some believe that instead of automatic record-clearing, cases should be reviewed individually—while minor offenses may be erased, more serious ones should stay on record.Niall reflects on the passionate debate, weighing both perspectives on fairness versus accountability. Should we allow young offenders to turn over a new leaf at 18, or does wiping their records risk ignoring patterns of criminal behavior? The conversation leaves listeners with an important question: Where should we draw the line between rehabilitation and responsibility?
I. RelevanceTo be admissible in court, evidence must be relevant. This means it must have "any tendency" to make a fact more or less probable (Rule 401). The threshold for relevance is low. Even evidence with the slightest probative value is sufficient. For example, if a defendant possesses a weapon matching the one used in a crime, this evidence is relevant because it increases the likelihood of their involvement. However, even logically relevant evidence can be excluded if its probative value is substantially outweighed by the danger of unfair prejudice, confusing the issues, misleading the jury, or wasting time (Rule 403). Judges have discretion in applying Rule 403 and may provide limiting instructions to the jury. For example, gruesome crime scene photos may be excluded if their shock value outweighs their relevance.II. Witness ExaminationA competent witness must be able to perceive, recall, and communicate the event, and understand their duty to testify truthfully.Direct Examination: The party calling the witness asks open-ended questions. Leading questions are generally prohibited, except for hostile witnesses or preliminary matters.Cross-Examination: Opposing counsel uses leading questions to test accuracy, reliability, credibility, and potential biases. The scope is generally limited to topics raised during direct examination.Redirect/Recross: Redirect examination clarifies issues raised during cross-examination. Recross-examination challenges new issues introduced during redirect.Common Objections: Hearsay, Relevance, Leading Questions, Speculation, Argumentative Questions, Asked and Answered, Improper ImpeachmentIII. ImpeachmentImpeachment challenges a witness's credibility. Methods:Prior Inconsistent Statements: A previous statement contradicting the witness's testimony (not hearsay if used only to impeach).Bias or Motive to Lie: Reasons for the witness to favor one side (always relevant).Conviction of a Crime:Felonies: Admissible if probative value outweighs prejudicial effect.Crimes Involving Dishonesty: Always admissible.Convictions older than 10 years are generally inadmissible.Reputation for Untruthfulness: Attacking the witness's general character for dishonesty.IV. PrivilegesPrivileges protect certain confidential communications.Attorney-Client Privilege: Protects communications between a lawyer and client for legal advice (client holds the privilege). Exceptions: Crime-fraud, waiver, joint representation.Spousal Privileges:Spousal Immunity: A spouse cannot be forced to testify against their spouse in criminal cases (only during the marriage).Marital Communications Privilege: Protects confidential communications between spouses made during the marriage (survives divorce, both criminal and civil cases).V. Expert TestimonyExpert testimony provides specialized knowledge. An expert must have specialized knowledge, training, or experience.Reliability Standards:Daubert Standard: Judges assess reliability and scientific validity.Frye Standard: Expert testimony must be based on widely accepted scientific principles.Experts cannot state legal conclusions.VI. HearsayHearsay is an out-of-court statement offered for the truth of the matter asserted and is generally inadmissible.Non-Hearsay: Prior Inconsistent Statements (impeachment), Prior Consistent Statements (rehabilitation), Prior Identifications, Admissions by a Party-Opponent.Hearsay Exceptions: Some require the declarant to be unavailable (Dying Declarations, Statements Against Interest, Former Testimony). Some apply regardless of availability (Excited Utterance, Present Sense Impression, Statements for Medical Diagnosis or Treatment, Business Records, Public Records).Confrontation Clause: Guarantees criminal defendants the right to confront their accusers. Testimonial hearsay is inadmissible unless the declarant is unavailable and the defendant had a prior opportunity to cross-examine.VII. Strategic ConsiderationsObjecting to

One of Mexico City's key players in session. Paulina Rodriguez, AKA Paurro, came to club music relatively late in life. It took hold of her for the first time when she was in her twenties, during a chance visit to the legendary London institution, fabric, in 2008. One look at her CV today would confirm that she's definitely made up for the late start. Sixteen years later, Rodriguez has worn nearly every hat in the industry, from radio programming, label management and PR to residencies at Mexico City's finest clubs. Nowadays, she's just as hard to pin down as ever, with a global reach: she currently holds a residency with Munich's Radio8000 and tours extensively across Europe, Asia and the Americas. The House of Paurro, her party series, is much like its globetrotting founder: this year alone it's hosted events at Tresor in Berlin, Making Time in Philadelphia and Public Records in New York City. Oh yeah and don't forget, she's also producing absolute bangers, such as 2022's "Galavision," in the moments in between. At the heart of it all: sharing unabashed joy, wherever that may be. It sounds like a lot, but you get the feeling the sky really is the only limit for Paurro. Rodriguez's journey wasn't without struggle. She's openly addressed challenges like breaking into the industry as a Mexican artist and facing sexual harassment. Today, she's a champion of community-focused global club culture, embodying optimism and ambition. At the heart of it all: sharing unabashed joy, wherever that may be. Her RA Podcast is no different—it's a joyride through the House of Paurro, weaving together influences spanning a rich fusion of UK, Latin and truly borderless sounds. @paurrro ra.co/podcast/966

Rick McKee, CagleCartoons.com This week in our crazy, insane Trump-infested world -- Don Trump continues his magic touch in endorsements, hanging tough with North Carolina Black Nazi Mark Robinson even as the gubernatorial candidate's campaign staff bails out. Robinson is the latest Trumper in a pantheon of bizarre losers that includes Dr. Oz, Herschel Walker and our very own Tudor Dixon and Matt DePerno. Trump has also found time to start up a couple more grifts to go with his digital ego cards, Bibles and golden sneakers. The guy who once described crypto currency as a scam now has his crypto business, and he's also marketing Trump commemorative coins. This comes as Trump's Truth Social stock hits an all-time low, down more than 80% in the last year. A single courageous Republican in Nebraska has stopped still another Trump campaign effort to rig the 2024 vote. Needless to say, the Donald is not happy and will retaliate. Republicans complaining about the feds targeting them for criminal charges get another shot in their face with New York City's Mayor, a Democrat, indicted along with multiple appointees. Gretchen Whitmer reveals her secret of political success to talk-show host Andy Cohen: getting shit done. Both presidential campaigns have issued the outlines of an economic game plan. Florida bans instruction on contraception and consent in sex ed classes Obama and Biden achievements that Trump claims for himself Democrats won complete power in Michigan. Republicans are trying to take it away. A major part of this week's discussion: Jeff's insider's look at the strategy and tactics of The Lincoln Project. Joining the conversation: Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter David Cay Johnston. He is the bestselling author of The Making of Donald Trump and It's Even Worse Than You Think. David has lectured on economics, journalism, and tax policy on every continent except Antarctica and is a former president of Investigative Reporters & Editors. Johnston has been a frequent guest on MSNBC, CNN, the BBC, ABC World News Tonight, Democracy Now!, and NPR's Morning Edition (among other shows), and was a consultant for the Netflix series House of Cards. Currently both a national columnist at professor of practice at the Rochester Institute of Technology, Johnston began his career at the San Jose Mercury News from 1968 to 1973, when he moved to Lansing to continue his education at Michigan State. While there, he wrote an internal textbook (A Guide to Public Records) for the university's journalism department. From 1973 to 1976, he was an investigative reporter at the Detroit Free Press in its Lansing bureau. One of his investigative reports resulted in the Lansing CBS affiliate's owner being forced by the FCC to sell the station because of news manipulation. He is an expert on the financial crimes and scams of Donald Trump.
