In today's movie club, we're looking at a new South African production called Thrivors. It's a fantastic concept - basically turning the traditional format of reality tv on its head. But before that the team need to raise funds to complete it and make sure it's of the standard they desire, so they're distributing a documentary about the making of the series in the interim - which will call on ordinary South Africans to get involved and pledge their support, become co-producers of this unique piece of art and help put South Africa on the reality tv map. In this short series, LaToya brings powerful and intimate interviews of women who lived through domestic violence situations and found the power to walk away, get help, heal, restore, and live. You can't walk away from these stories without being inspired, motivated, encouraged. You will be moved to engage in your own self-help, mental health, healing, and victory. Stay tuned for every episode!

Cathy’s vision is to connect precision medicine, life style behaviors, and technology to improve outcomes for cancer patients. The Thrivors™ platform addresses secondary side effects of cancer treatment where they impact patients the most and where they can go unrecognized - beyond the clinical setting to improve adherence, outcomes, and healing. Common complications during and following cancer treatment include pain, fatigue, lymphedema, neuropathy, osteoporosis, and psycho-social distress. These side effects, or social determinants of health, can dramatically diminish a patient’s quality of life. There is an opportunity to combine the clinical power of genomics with the power of patient engagement via the Thrivors™ digital health platform to enrich precision medicine to include social determinants of health and quality of life indicators. Cathy and I discuss the impact THIRVORS is making on cancer patients, her entrepreneurial journey, and how she maintains her own personal wellness when she continues to give so much to others.
