Great leadership doesn't happen by chance—it's built through preparation and practice. In this episode of Leadership with Latoya, Dr. Latoya Dixon shares practical strategies to help leaders stay organized, protect time for priorities, and rehearse with intention. Walk away with simple habits that boost confidence, sharpen execution, and ensure you show up at your best.
LaToya is feeling herself...a little too much.
It's back-to-school time, and Barry's classes are overcrowded. There are not enough desks for every student. And there are already classes that he could do without. LaToya has been up for more than 24 hours since having her first boba tea, and so she deliriously rambles and hijacks the first part of the show. She suggests implementing specific runtimes for the show, as they can vary widely. Guess we'll have to see if that happens.
The AMPire Diaries Episode 120: The Vampire Diaries - “A Bird in a Gilded Cage” Alright, now is the time to get serious, AMPies. We're in a post-“Downward Spiral” world after all now. Open Forum: The meeting started with Pastor Amos and Bose, focusing on the financial struggles ministries face, emphasizing broader economic factors over personal failure. Pastor Amos and Micah discussed adapting to the digital age in church engagement and the role of the Holy Spirit in navigating economic changes. Pastor Amos shared how AI tools have streamlined his work, while Bose stressed kingdom-first business principles amidst technological disruption. Lynette spoke about obedience to God's evolving instructions, and Pastor Amos highlighted the importance of timely spiritual discernment. He also shared his shift from entrepreneurial to more pastoral ministry focus, supported by Derrick's inquiry. Pastor Amos and Derrick emphasized aligning entrepreneurship with divine purpose, cautioning against chasing financial success over spiritual mission. They discussed the pitfalls of prioritizing popularity over true expertise and the importance of experiential learning, both in business and life. The group explored the integration of faith and technology, balancing spirit-led entrepreneurship with AI use, and concluded with LaToya's dream about digital platforms and the mark of the beast, updates on fellowship plans, and feedback requests on Sunday service content. Send us a textIn November 2011, Latoya Ammons, her mother Rosa, and Latoya's three children moved into a rental house in Gary, Indiana. At first, everything seemed fine. Then came swarms of thousands of black flies, even though it was the dead of winter. Soon strange activity began in the house- shadows, unexplained noises, wet boot prints on the floor. And then the demonic possession began. Without giving too much away, this is a fascinating story full of twists, turns, and jump scares. Arguably the most well documented case of demonic activity in the contemporary era, this story presents a very compelling argument for the existence of the supernatural. Or, is it just intergenerational trauma (as usual?) We can't wait to hear what you think! Happy Haunting! Support the showGet in touch! Conversation flows casually enough. Barry's barbaric dentist is ruining his mouth, and instead of seeing another dentist, he doubles down on the one he is in literal debt to. Also, for all you Blackpink fans, a new single is out, and an album release is just around the corner. Robbie Williams may (and should) be knighted. And LaToya is now a Costco regular. But the show takes an unexpected veer off the highway when Barry discusses the Book of Mormon and his interest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. LaToya reacts with no filter, being deliriously tired from the excessive Georgia heat and general long-term lack of sleep.
Music is one of those things that can bring families together…and sometimes, that togetherness grows into a business… The BeeGees had the three Gibb brothers…baby brother Andy Gibb was also part of that universe for a while… Then there's The Beach Boys…the original lineup included Brian, Dennis, and Carl Wilson and their cousin Mike Love…Murray Wilson—the father of Brian, Dennis, and Carl—was their manager…he was terrible at it (in fact, Murray was an all-around disaster for his sons), but at least they were all together…or something like that…three brothers, their father and a cousin… We have The Cowsills…this was a 60s pop group from Rhode island who had a series of hits…six siblings: Bob, Bill, Barry, John, Paul and Susan…they ranged from 8 to 18…and then there was mother Barbra…this arrangement was the inspiration for the TV show “the partridge family”…that's seven people, which later became eight when Bob's twin brother Richard joined up for a bit… And we have to talk about the Jackson 5: Michael, Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon…when the group left Motown, Jermaine was replaced by Randy… So that's six members of the Jackson 5… then we have Janet, LaToya and Rebbie…that's nine, and everything was run by father Joe Jackson—another abusive disaster…so the count is up to 10… All this got me thinking: are there equivalents in the world of alt-rock?...What are the biggest family affairs the genre has ever seen?...Let's take a look… Learn more about your ad choices. Send us a textIn this episode of The Incubator Podcast, Ben and Daphna sit down with certified birth doula and lactation counselor Latoya Southwell for a wide-ranging conversation about the role doulas play in supporting families before, during, and after birth. LaToya shares her personal and professional path into birth work, and how her experiences shaped a culturally sensitive, trauma-informed approach to supporting laboring people—particularly those from historically marginalized communities. The conversation covers what doulas do (and don't do), how they differ from midwives, and how they advocate for safe, informed, and emotionally grounded birth experiences. LaToya talks candidly about how she prepares clients for unexpected outcomes, including C-sections and NICU admissions, and how doulas can collaborate with healthcare teams rather than be in conflict with them. She also introduces the Baby Café initiative—an informal peer support network she co-founded to reduce isolation and provide postpartum support for new mothers—and explains why preparing families for postpartum is just as critical as planning for labor. This episode is a practical introduction to the real work of birth doulas—and an invitation to rethink how care teams can work together to improve outcomes and experiences for parents and babies alike. The AMPire Diaries Episode 118: The Vampire Diaries - “The Downward Spiral” In the immortal, loud words of Max Blum: “HERE WE GO!” We know all you AMPies have missed hours-long episodes full of tangents and segues, so we decided to record one for old times sake. (And because we had plenty of technical difficulties, thankfully rectified by the magic of EDITING.) (And in case you forgot, STEFAN Salvatore is actually part of the Sarah Salvatore story.) - Morgan going full speed ahead on BonKai and Kai as “Damon 2.0.” - “Enzo Hates… Twilight.” - Caroline Forbes' Bronze dancing. - By the way: Shout out to Eliza Dushku. Girl, we miss you. - The same things we literally always talk about when we talk about Smallville. - Y'all remember Luke's gay herbs? - NEVER listen to the Salvatore boys. - LaToya talks about another WB ship BESIDES Angel/Cordelia (But don't worry: She DOES talk about Angel/Cordelia too.) - Our old buddy, “Colin Phelps.” - Only two prison worlds, huh? Sounds nice. - Elena's forgetfulness. - Glenn Howerton's CCH Pounder impression, a bit that will make more sense when we drop the full bonus clip on the Patreon. - Plus, LaToya's mom (MOTHER) and dog (DAHLIA) both make guest appearances on the pod… sort of. “IAN SOMERHALDER MAKES HIS DIRECTORIAL DEBUT.” (“The Downward Spiral”) Whether you're a Vampire Diaries obsessive or newcomer, join along with hosts LaToya Ferguson (@lafergs—AMPie Queen, Vampire Diaries obsessive) and Morgan Lutich (@LorganMutich—AMPie Queen, Vampire Diaries obsessive) on their continuing podcast journey.* Most importantly, get AMPED (and horny) along with them on this journey. Host Melissa Berry sits down with LaToya Bolds-Johnson — Physician Associate, triple negative breast cancer survivor, and passionate clinical trials advocate. With her experience as both a healthcare provider and a patient, Latoya offers a meaningful and insightful perspective on clinical trials and how they can transform cancer treatment. In this episode, LaToya shares her personal journey navigating breast cancer treatment and the challenges of finding the right clinical trial. They discuss the critical need for greater diversity in clinical trial participation, and how her involvement created a “medical trust fund” for her daughters' futures. LaToya also discusses how we can shift the mindset around clinical trials from being seen as a last resort to a standard of care, helping patients advocate for themselves and make informed choices. If you're newly diagnosed, considering treatment options, or want to learn how clinical trials can offer hope and opportunity, this episode is a must-listen!
This week on CounterSpin: We've always heard that racists hate quotas, yet Stephen Miller's “3000 a day, however which way” mandate is terrorizing immigrant communities — brown immigrant communities — around the country. The response from people of conscience can look many ways: linking arms around people in danger, absolutely; vigorously disputing misinformation about immigrants, whether hateful or patronizing, also. But another piece is gaining a deeper, broader understanding of migration. News media could help answer one implied question — “Why is anyone trying to come to the U.S. anyway?” — by grappling with the role of conditions the U.S. has largely created in the places people are driven from. We talk about that largely missing piece from elite media's immigration coverage with Michael Galant, senior research and outreach associate at the Center for Economic and Policy Research. Anyone who pays attention and cares can see that the Trump budget bill is a brazen transfer of resources from those that are trying to meet basic needs to those that can't remember how many houses they own. But corporate reporting rarely breaks out economic policy in terms of how it affects different people — especially how it affects communities for whom they show no consistent concern. Economic policy is itself racialized, gendered, regionalized, targeted. Humanistic journalism would help us see that. LaToya Parker is a senior researcher at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies and co-author, with Joint Center president Dedrick Asante-Muhammad, of the recent piece “This Federal Budget Will Be a Disaster for Black Workers.” The post Michael Galant on Sanctions and Immigration / LaToya Parker on Budget's Racial Impacts appeared first on KPFA.
News media could help explain immigration by grappling with the role of conditions the US has largely created in the places people are driven from.

Open Forum: Pastor Amos introduced a new Faith in Action discipleship group starting in June and meeting on Mondays from 7:30–9 PM EST. He also announced a focus on building joyful marriages on Sundays, following his previous teachings on divorce and remarriage. The group engaged in a heartfelt discussion about navigating friendships affected by differing beliefs, especially concerning same-sex unions. Jovanna and Doyin shared personal experiences of strained relationships, while Pastor Amos encouraged maintaining biblical convictions without legitimizing sin, yet keeping the door open for reconciliation. The conversation shifted to social media, where Doyin and Tyesha raised concerns about the imbalance in addressing women's versus men's accountability. Pastor Amos explained his intentional strategy of alternating focus and how social media algorithms often favor controversial topics involving women. Transparency before marriage was emphasized, with Pastor Amos urging individuals to disclose their full past early in dating to prevent future marital issues. The emotional impact of past relationships on men was discussed, highlighting the need for open communication. The group also explored healing generational patterns, prayer and intimacy in dating, and the theology of marriage as a covenant. LaToya shared reflections on marriage rooted in biblical love and sacrifice. Partner with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com/partner Connect with Us: https://churchforentrepreneurs.com
Open Forum: Pastor Amos led a multifaceted discussion covering ministry development, fasting, obedience, and spiritual growth. He announced the upcoming Ministry Accelerator event on June 21st for those with ministerial callings and shared that the Open Forum time has moved to 9 PM EST on Wednesdays. Arlene requested prayer regarding a potential business opportunity, and Pastor Amos offered guidance on discerning God's will. The group also explored fasting as a spiritual discipline rather than a mandate, with Alicia, Nehemie, and others expressing a desire to grow in prayer and study. Nehemie and Stephanie raised questions about obedience, tithing, and giving, which Pastor Amos addressed by emphasizing listening to the Holy Spirit and giving from the heart. LaToya and Pastor Amos underscored the importance of believers personally understanding Scripture and how Christianity empowers women through service. The conversation concluded with a reflection on marriage, emphasizing unconditional love and mutual service, and a group prayer for Curtis, who is recovering from a stroke. Welcome to the Sustainable Clinical Medicine Podcast! In this compelling episode, Dr. Sarah Smith sits down with Dr. La Toya Luces-Sampson—known as Dr. Toya—to discuss her transformative journey through medicine, from her beginnings in Trinidad and Tobago to her training as an OB/GYN in the US, and ultimately her bold decision to step away from clinical practice. Dr. Toya candidly opens up about her experiences with burnout in residency and corporate medicine, the toll it took on her personal well-being, and the moments that sparked real change in her career and life. She shares how a leap into entrepreneurship during the COVID-19 pandemic rekindled her confidence and purpose beyond clinical work, eventually inspiring her to become a coach for physician moms navigating medicine and motherhood. Dr. Toya reveals practical tools she used for efficiency, like templates and support systems, and emphasizes the importance of advocacy, boundaries, and accepting support—whether at work or at home. Tune in for an honest, inspiring conversation about resilience, redefining success in medicine, and the power of community and self-compassion in building a sustainable clinical career. Here are 3 key takeaways from this episode: Support Matters at Work and Home: Whether advocating for yourself in a tough clinical environment or building a support system at home, allowing yourself to be supported is crucial. As Dr. La Toya shared, “We have worked so hard to get where we are. Allow yourself to be supported.” Efficiency and Boundaries Fight Burnout: La Toya emphasized the power of systems, templates, and boundaries, both in patient care and personal life. Tackling the inbox right away, leveraging dictation and templates, and having clear work/home boundaries helped her stay efficient—and sane.

In January 2014, a strange article appeared in the Indianapolis Star about Latoya Ammons, an Indiana single mother of three who claimed that for more than a year, she and her children were besieged by demons in their rented home. Ammons claimed, among other things, that the house was constantly infested with black flies, the children were levitated from their beds, and her nine-year-son became possessed and walked up a wall backwards. And that was only the beginning; by the end of just one year in the house, the Ammons family claim they were terrorized by all manner of supernatural assaults, from ghostly apparitions to demonic entities. Latoya Ammons' story might well have gone unnoticed, had it not been for the surprising number of witnesses to the paranormal events, from family and friends to police officers and social workers. Still, Latoya was not without her critics or skeptics—some accused her of fabricating the story to get out of her lease, while others assumed she was simply delusional. Regardless of the explanation for the cause of the events, there's no denying that Latoya Ammons story is one of the most terrifying paranormal experiences heard in decades.Thank you to the Incredible Dave White of Bring Me the Axe Podcast for research and Writing support!ReferencesBiddle, Kenny. 2018.
