Key Takeaways1. Hospice isn't about giving up — it's about shifting the goal from cure to comfort. Most misconceptions stem from fear or lack of education. Hospice focuses on maximizing quality of life, not accelerating end of life.2. Timing matters. Early conversations lead to better experiences.Families often wait until crisis mode. Subtle changes — fatigue, weight loss, repeated hospitalizations, shifting goals — are early signs to explore hospice.3. There is an entire team behind every patient and family.Chaplains, social workers, nurses, CNAs, and physicians work together to support medical, emotional, spiritual, and logistical needs.4. Quality of life is unique to each patient. It may mean one last trip, freedom from pain, or simply being able to rest without fear. Hospice focuses on what matters most.5. Families gain relief, clarity, and peace knowing they're not alone.Hospice offers 24/7 support, education, and guidance — reducing anxiety and preventing unnecessary hospital visits.6. Eligibility is flexible and individualized.A prognosis of six months or less is a guideline, not an expiration date. A hospice RN and medical director work together to determine appropriateness based on a full clinical picture.7. Hospice allows sacred, human moments to happen.Final conversations, reconciliation, peaceful transitions — hospice creates space for these moments rather than crisis-driven chaos.8. Education is the antidote to fear.Knowledge gives families confidence, reduces guilt, and empowers them to make aligned decisions for their loved ones. www.YourHealth.Org
Nutritionist Leyla Muedin details a study on the effects of vitamins C and E supplementation in older women with sarcopenia. The study, published in the journal Medicine, found that combining 1000 mg of vitamin C and 335 mg of vitamin E with a 12-week resistance training program significantly improved muscle mass, strength, and certain blood parameters compared to a placebo group. The benefits were attributed to the alleviation of oxidative stress and inflammation. Leyla underscores the importance of adequate animal protein intake to optimize resistance training outcomes.

In this transformative and deeply personal episode of the "Stuck In My Mind Podcast," host Wize El Jefe welcomes Georges Córdoba, a former chief technology officer turned holistic health coach, functional nutritionist, energy healer, speaker, and founder of Qualavita. Georges brings a remarkable story of survival, healing, and paradigm-shifting perspective on health—one forged through climbing life's toughest mountain: surviving stage 4 melanoma with brain metastasis. The conversation begins with Wize El Jefe setting the stage, introducing Georges as someone who didn't just survive a decade-long battle with cancer marked by 10 surgeries—including multiple brain operations—but completely transformed his life thereafter. Georges Córdoba shares heartfelt gratitude for the chance to tell his story, marking this July as his 13th year cancer-free—a journey that ultimately led him into holistic health coaching. Listeners are taken through the specifics of Georges' battle, starting as a CTO suddenly diagnosed with advanced melanoma, facing eight brain tumors, two of which were deemed inoperable. With Western medicine running out of answers, Georges describes reaching a pivotal breaking point—when the conventional treatments and financial strains became unbearable. Georges details his leap of faith into holistic modalities, from acupuncture to energy work, navigating doubt and surrender through faith and a search for discernment. The emotional depth comes alive as he describes moments of spiritual resilience in a chapel, praying for guidance amidst recurrence and uncertainty. Conversation shifts to the big picture: the current health crisis in the United States. Drawing upon his speaking engagements and research from the American Cancer Society and Harvard School of Health, Georges offers sobering statistics—66% of US adults have at least one chronic disease, and obesity rates are soaring. He calls out the systemic issues, from the food industry's questionable practices to the entrenched financial incentives in healthcare, arguing that the nation is plagued not only by poor nutrition and lifestyle, but also by a lack of preventative initiatives. Wize El Jefe and Georges trade personal anecdotes about changes in society, food culture, and the normalization of processed foods. Their frank discussion exposes the convenience trap and its severe health consequences, comparing the eating habits of past decades with the fast-food norm of today. Georges passionately explains his holistic health philosophy, which now encompasses functional nutrition, emotional healing, hypnosis, and energy work. He reflects on the hardest and most impactful practices to master, such as hypnotherapy, and debunks pervasive myths about disease and heredity. Drawing from the latest epigenetic science, he asserts that nearly all chronic illness originates in emotional distress, acidic/inflamed bodies, and unhealthy lifestyles—not genetics alone. A core segment explores how most Americans eat too quickly and chew too little, leading to poor digestion and chronic health issues. Georges presents vivid metaphors and practical advice—slowing down, breathing deeply before meals, and chewing food thoroughly, so digestion can happen properly and health can be restored. As Wize El Jefe shares his own journey of weight loss and improved well-being, the episode turns toward empowerment, resilience, and the actionable steps listeners can take. Georges outlines his program, Qualavita, which means “quality of life.” Through personalized coaching, group movements like his new Prevention Revolution, and forthcoming books, Georges aspires to help clients unlock vitality from within. His approach treats the whole person—physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual—drawing from wisdom traditions, modern science, and lived experience. The episode is filled with practical guidance: from nutrition tips and emotional healing practices to mindsets that foster hope and transformation. Georges illustrates how faith, purpose, and consistent action are essential to healing, sharing inspiring testimonials and anecdotes from his own family and clients. For listeners who may feel powerless battling disease, Georges delivers a powerful, compassionate message: healing happens from the inside out, and the answers for transformation are within. He shares the importance of believing in yourself, taking control of your choices, and seeking out supportive communities and resources. For those feeling lost after a diagnosis, Georges offers strategies for managing fear, advocating for yourself within the healthcare system, and using positive visualization to empower the mind and body toward healing. As the episode closes, Georges shares where listeners can find him, access his bestselling book "Beating the Odds," and join his new programs for both prevention and healing. His advocacy: take action and start the journey toward true quality of life—slow down, become present, and embrace holistic health. This episode is a powerful blend of raw personal experience, expert guidance, and urgent call for a radical shift in how we approach sickness and health as individuals and a society. Anyone struggling with chronic illness, seeking hope, or curious about holistic health will leave inspired, informed, and armed with practical steps toward transformation. Tune in now to hear the full conversation—one that just may change your perspective, your habits, and your path to true healing.

Sexier Than A Squirrel: Dog Training That Gets Real Life Results
Send us a textGrief is heavy; choice is heavier. We open the door to a conversation many avoid: how to make humane, timely end-of-life decisions for our dogs and other animals without surrendering dignity to fear or delay. Through real stories—a goat with Johne's disease, a Labrador remembered with regret, a joyful dog named Eazy whose last morning was full of play ... we map the emotional terrain and the practical steps that lead to a kinder farewell. We talk about the hard calls that vets present and what they mean in real life: failed vein access, prolonged sedation, and invasive procedures that add risk without improving outcomes. You'll hear why “a day early rather than a day late” can prevent traumatic endings like haemorrhage, suffocation, or frantic final car rides. We share how to plan a peaceful goodbye at home, in a place your dog loves ... the training arena, the garden, a sunny bed ... with familiar voices, favourite games, and last suppers that say “you're safe.” Presence matters; calm touch and routine reduce fear, and those final moments become a gentle memory instead of a lifelong scar.We also challenge treatment norms. Not every surgery, MRI, or chemo protocol serves the animal when the prognosis is poor. We walk through the questions that bring clarity: What does recovery look like? What comfort will this buy? What risks are certain? Alongside honest talk about limits, we cover supportive care ... nutrition upgrades, raw diets when appropriate, targeted supplements, and low-stress routines—that can boost wellbeing without false hope. The through line is stewardship: asking tough questions, choosing compassion over delay, and trusting yourself to act before suffering eclipses joy.If you're bracing for a hard decision or carrying the weight of one that has passed, this conversation offers language, frameworks, and courage for the moments that matter most. Send us a textThis week we are talking about our life lines. I ask you to consider — who's your lifeline? Not the metaphorical one, but the real, human connection that keeps you afloat when life gets heavy. We'll dig into the interesting history of the word “lifeline,” what research says about how connection affects our health and habits, and how you can create your own H-Factor system of support. It's practical and deeply human —you'll leave reminded that you were never meant to do this alone. You're listening to American Ground Radio with Stephen Parr and Louis R. Avallone. This is the full show for November 5, 2025. 0:30 We unpack the controversy surrounding California’s Proposition 50, which recently passed and is set to create five new Democrat-leaning congressional districts — potentially flipping control of the U.S. House of Representatives. Prop 50 represents a new wave of partisan gerrymandering, undermining fair representation and further dividing the nation along racial and political lines. 9:30 Plus, we cover the Top 3 Things You Need to Know. Democrats won big in elections across the country. In New York City, communist anti-semite Zohran Mamdani won the mayoral election with more than 50% of the vote. The US Supreme Court heard arguments today over whether or not President Trump has the power to place tariffs on imports into the United States. A UPS Plane crashed in Louisville, Kentucky, killing 9 people and injuring 11 more. 12:30 Get Performlyte from Victory Nutrition International for 20% off. Go to vni.life/agr and use the promo code AGR20. 13:30 Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani told supporters to “turn the volume up” during his victory speech, but what did he really mean— and who were those words meant for? Was he signaling that the political temperature in America is about to rise even higher? Or was it just another moment of headline-grabbing bravado? 15:30 The American Mamas take on a listener question about why Michelle Obama continues to grace magazine covers like People, while First Lady Melania Trump—once a world-renowned supermodel—seems to be overlooked by mainstream media. Mamas Teri Netterville and Kimberly Burleson discuss the double standards in media coverage, Michelle Obama’s ongoing public presence through podcasts and books, and her repeated claims of being treated unfairly. Is Michelle Obama sending the right message to young women, or is she promoting victimhood culture? If you'd like to ask our American Mamas a question, go to our website, AmericanGroundRadio.com/mamas and click on the Ask the Mamas button. 23:00 Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced that 10% of air traffic controllers will see a reduced workload due to mounting stress from the ongoing government shutdown. This decision is meant to alleviate the pressure on our air traffic controllers, but will it increase the pressure on those in Congress? Or will lawmakers continue to weaponize the shutdown for political gain? 25:00 We Dig Deep into the surprising and polarizing victory speech of newly elected New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani. Quoting socialist figure Eugene V. Debs, Mamdani framed his win as the dawn of a “better day for humanity,” but invoking Debs reveals a radical agenda. Are Mamdani’s promises — rent freezes, free childcare, and fare-free transit — visionary or economically disastrous? Is New York stepping into a hopeful new era or a dangerous experiment in radical governance? 32:00 Get Prodovite Plus from Victory Nutrition International for 20% off. Go to vni.life/agr and use the promo code AGR20. 32:30 Have “quality of life” issues like rent, wages, and affordability finally overtaken the cultural battles that once dominated Democratic messaging? Or is it simply a rebranding effort to hide the same “woke” ideology underneath? 35:30 Plus, a new Beacon Center poll out of Tennessee shows a surprising trend — most voters want more religion in public schools, and that's a Bright Spot. Over half of respondents (52%) said there isn’t enough religion in classrooms, while only 18% said there’s too much. Even among Democrats, the numbers were nearly even. National data shows growing public support for allowing chaplains in schools, though not necessarily for teacher-led prayer. 40:00 Rush Limbaugh said that he hoped President Obama would fail, and Democrats condemned him for it. Now, Zohran Mamdani promises to "take [Trump] down" and to destroy the real estate market in New York so there's never any Donald Trump again. We've just got to say, "Whoa!" 41:30 And we finish off today's show with some words of wisdom about faith. Dr. Anderson graduated from the University of Manitoba in 2011 and finished her residency in Family Medicine, and she is proud to say she is a Metis physician born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Dr. Anderson's passion for Cannabinoid medicine started in 2017, when her son with intractable epilepsy had failed all treatments and she was forced to close her practice. Seizing multiple times per hour she knew the outlook was dire, and after one dose of CBD she saw dramatic results. Since then, Dr. Anderson has committed herself to helping other children who have failed all options explore cannabinoids, and she has seen amazing results.
In a major changing of eras, it's imperative that we clean and heal as we go, be willing to leave behind what has become too heavy to carry forward, and trust that the unfolding is happening how it needs to.

Christine Clause, a dedicated mother and advocate, shares her profound journey of raising her son with developmental disabilities and her professional role at Neighbors Inc., a nonprofit in New Jersey supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). She recounts the challenges she has faced navigating the healthcare system, including a harrowing experience when her son was hospitalized with the flu and nearly died due to medical professionals' assumptions about his quality of life. Christine emphasizes the importance of family members asserting their knowledge and role in medical decision-making, and she highlights how showing a video of her son thriving in the community helped shift the hospital staff's perspective. She passionately advocates for better clinician education through programs like IntellectAbility's Fatal Five Plus training, which addresses preventable causes of death in people with IDD. Christine also underscores the need for family and staff training, the value of nurses in hospital settings, and the critical importance of recognizing individuals with IDD as people first. Her insights call for systemic change in healthcare and support services to ensure dignity, inclusion, and quality care for all individuals with disabilities.

Send us a textHave you ever wondered what happens inside your body when you don't eat for a while — when you give yourself space between meals? In this week's episode of Project Weight Loss, we explore that quiet magic with the story of Nobel Laureate Maester Yoshinori Ohsumi, whose discovery of autophagy — the body's natural process of self-cleaning and renewal — changed how we understand health, vitality, and longevity. From his humble lab in Japan to the moment he glimpsed a new world under the microscope, Ohsumi's curiosity reveals how our bodies are wired to restore themselves, especially in moments of pause. We'll talk about how autophagy connects to fasting, weight management, brain health, and aging — and why giving your body a little space to “dine in” can make such a difference. You'll hear about Ohsumi's groundbreaking experiments, his partnership with his wife and collaborator Mariko Ohsumi, and how their discoveries invite us to see self-renewal as a natural rhythm of life. I'll also link this episode to my earlier one on the Blue Zones — where long-living communities show us what it means to live in harmony with our biology. Listen in, reflect, and maybe even give your body that gentle reset it's been asking for.Quote of the Week:“We are wired for feast and famine, not feast, feast, feast.” — Dr. Jason FungListen to my related episode: The Blue Zones: The Secrets to Living Citations1. If you had to put a number on your happiness, energy, and overall well-being—what score would you give your life right now? In this episode, Amy Hudson and Dr. James Fisher dig into the science of quality of life—how researchers actually measure it, and why it's about so much more than health stats or fitness levels. They reveal why building physical strength often leads to emotional freedom and how strength training improves mental health, social connection, and vitality. Tune in to learn how training your body can completely reshape the way you feel about your life. Amy shares her definition of quality of life. She looks beyond just physical health and considers energy, mood, and daily worries. The big question is: Am I happy—and could I be happier? Dr. Fisher explains how quality of life is measured. He breaks it down with short-form surveys like the SF-12 and SF-36 that ask people to rate their health on a simple scale from excellent to poor. The point is not the specific symptom—but your overall sense of well-being. Understand the broader meaning of quality of life. Dr. Fisher reveals it's not only about physical health or ability to work—it's also about mood, social connection, and everyday experiences. Dr. Fisher shares: “How often during the past month have you felt so down in the dumps that nothing could cheer you up?” It's a reminder that emotional health is central to quality of life. Amy and Dr. Fisher discuss how resistance training impacts your quality of life. A 2019 systematic review of 16 studies showed that strength training consistently improved health-related quality of life in older adults. The benefits weren't just physical metrics like cholesterol—they were about how people felt. Learn how resistance training changes perception. Participants filled out quality-of-life surveys before and after strength training interventions, and the results showed mental health, energy, and outlook improving. Dr. Fisher reveals how training affects mental and social well-being. Resistance training boosted emotional control, mental health, social function, and vitality scores. According to Amy, people who engage in strength training don't just get stronger—they become more energized, more social, and more alive. Understand the concept of emotional role function. Amy and Dr. Fisher unpack how it reflects control over emotions and the ability to bounce back when life feels tough. Strength training plays a role in building this resilience. Dr. Fisher shares his personal perspective. When he strength trains, it's a way to release stress, burn off anger, and reset emotionally. It's not just exercise—it's therapy for the mind. Amy explains how we experience the world depends on both our emotional and physical states. Strength training is a tool that improves both—leading to a richer, more positive quality of life. Amy and Dr. Fisher agree that resistance training can help us regulate emotions and reclaim a sense of freedom. While we can't control everything that happens to us, we can control how we respond.
