In this episode, I talk about attempts to diminish or ban trapping in state legislatures across the country. It's a sad reality, but we trappers need to be vigilant to protect our right to continue doing what we love. On a lighter note, I talk about "The Stan Project", a Kickstarter campaign for a documentary series on Yukon Men's Stan Zuray. I mention an article on BC trappers that I was a part of, and the opportunity to pick up one of my tanned marten and fisher pelts. Contact me at jrodwood@gmail.com for more. In this episode, I discuss the dream I've always had of going into the Alaskan wilderness and being a trapper-homesteader. The topic is fresh in my mind after reading Stan Zuray's book, "Carry On". Stan was a star in the Discovery Channel's hit show "Yukon Men", which featured people from the Alaskan village of Tanana. Stan has an interesting story, growing up in Boston, Massachusetts, and moving to Alaska to get away from it all. Today he still runs a trapline in the country he originally homesteaded, 30 miles outside of town, and traps out of the cabin he built decades ago. I'm a huge fan of Stan and his story, and hope to interview him on a podcast episode someday. Enjoy! Click here to purchase Stan's book. Click here to see Stan's Youtube channel, which has videos of his early interviews (videos are titled "My Life"). Check out the TV show "Yukon Men".
