Every driven professional eventually reaches a crossroads where working harder no longer produces the desired growth. Mark Kull found himself at this junction after achieving Northwestern Mutual's prestigious Forum recognition in consecutive years, only to realize he was trapped in an unsustainable cycle of effort. What followed was a transformative journey from frantic producer to strategic business builder. Mark shares the counterintuitive wisdom that reshaped his approach: "You often have to slow down to speed up." This perspective shift led him to create what he considers more valuable than any to-do list – a comprehensive "don't-do list" that freed him to focus on his highest-impact activities. The conversation explores Mark's deeply personal definition of success: being "front door famous" – showing up as the same authentic person whether with family, clients, or strangers. This consistency of character guides his leadership and life choices more powerfully than traditional financial metrics ever could.Mark reveals the practical strategies that supported his transition, from calculating the true hourly value of his client-facing time to intentionally hiring team members with complementary strengths rather than similar personalities. He candidly discusses the challenges of letting go, acknowledging that "in our desperation to want to be everything to everybody, we don't really become much of anything to anybody."Perhaps most surprisingly, Mark credits consistent sleep and wake times as his most important habit – a discipline that builds self-trust and reinforces his capacity for follow-through in every area of life. His approach demonstrates how elite achievement often comes not from doing more, but from doing the right things with remarkable consistency.Ready to rethink your approach to growth? Connect with Mark at mark.kull@nm.com or visit https://cpp.nm.com/ to learn how strategic delegation and intentional habits might transform your personal and professional trajectory. In this podcast you will learn:• Redefining success as being "front door famous" – maintaining consistency of character across all environments• Creating a strategic "don't-do list" rather than just focusing on to-do lists• Calculating the hourly value of client-facing time to determine what tasks to delegate• Hiring people with complementary skill sets rather than similar personalities• Making the shift from "producing forum" to "being a forum producer" through systems and processes• Building in non-negotiable growth opportunities like mastermind groups and industry conferences• Using flexible growth methods like reading that can be done at various times without rigid scheduling• Celebrating wins intentionally rather than constantly moving goalposts• Maintaining consistent habits like regular sleep and wake times to build self-discipline• Finding team members who genuinely enjoy the tasks on your don't-do listHighlights:0:00Self-Actualization and Introduction7:12Defining Elite Success Personally11:40The Journey from Forum Producer20:24Building a Strategic Business30:24Creating Space for Growth39:06The Power of Consistency42:50Celebration and Final ThoughtsInterested in 1:1 Coaching?Kristin partners with high-performing financial advisors, leaders, and business owners who are ready to lead with more clarity, focus, and intention.Clients often come to her with a strong vision—but they aren't sure how to close the gap between where they are now and where they want to go. Research funded by the federal government has been crucial in many of the defining technologies of our time: the internet, A.I., crispr, Ozempic, and the mRNA vaccines first used widely in the COVID pandemic. Between 2010 and 2019, more than 350 drugs were approved in the United States, and virtually all of them could trace their roots to the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Now this administration is endangering our health by cutting funds to academic medical centers. Moreover, there are threats to Medicaid, as well as ongoing cuts to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Many universities have paused hiring due to the uncertainty at the NIH and are curtailing graduate programs. Biotech investors are warning of a contraction in medical innovation. NIH grants have been terminated on ideological grounds, which have resulted in clinical trials shutting down. Global health programs worldwide have been cut. A discussion on these destructive policies on medicine in our country is needed. About the Speaker Monica Gandhi M.D., M.P.H., is a professor of medicine and associate chief in the Division of HIV, Infectious Diseases, and Global Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She is also the director of the UCSF Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) and the medical director of the HIV Clinic ("Ward 86") at San Francisco General Hospital. She serves as the associate program director of the ID fellowship at UCSF. Her research focuses on HIV treatment and prevention optimization, HIV and women, adherence measurement in HIV and TB, adherence interventions, and on optimizing the use of long-acting antiretroviral therapy (ART). She is a long-standing NIH-funded researcher. With the global rise of the far-right, women's rights are increasingly under threat. French author Lauren Bastide remains hopeful: feminism can save the world, but only as a revolutionary project that seeks to improve society at all levels, for everyone.Together with migrants and people from the LGBTQ+-community, women are among the first to suffer when a society takes an autocratic turn. Abortion rights in the United States are being undermined; in Hungary, women are encouraged through tax incentives to have more children – policy measures expressing the autocratic conviction that a woman's primary roles are those of mother and wife. How can feminism oppose these tendencies? And what should feminism look like? French author and journalist Lauren Bastide argues that feminism should not be about corporate slogans and individual success stories, but rather be grounded in global solidarity. In this programme, we'll explore how feminist values can build new alliances across borders. What solutions does feminism rooted in solidarity and intersectionality provide?Programme maker: Larissa BiemondThis programme is a part of the Forum on European Culture 2025.Zie het privacybeleid op https://art19.com/privacy en de privacyverklaring van Californië op https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Rural health care and job training top a list of Pennsylvanians’ priorities, according to results of a recently-released special survey of public opinion. The process, designed like a town hall for people across the state, softened participants’ strongest political stances. State House Democrats blocked a vote on a bill to prohibit transgender girls from competing in school sports, late last week. The move comes after House Republicans used a political maneuver to force debate on the bipartisan Senate bill. We break down how it happened. Pennsylvania is among the states which have reached a multi-year, $720 million-dollar settlement with eight drug manufacturers. The deal stems from the companies' manufacuture of opioids and the part they played in a nationwide crisis regarding addiction and death. Last week marked a grim anniversary in Harrisburg. It's been two years since fire engulfed the Broad Street Market's brick building. You may have noticed new Pennsylvania license plates are hitting the roads. After 26 years Pennsylvania redesigned its license plate. And a deep dive with Jeff Vasser, president and CEO of Discover Lancaster, who explains how Lancaster County is getting a jump on next year's America250 celebrations by kicking off events this summer.

Fresh off its award-winning run in Europe, Democracy Noir arrives in the United States as a very timely documentary film about how Viktor Orbán politically reshaped Hungary. It paints an incisive portrait of how Orbán used a free and democratic election to install authoritarian rule, enjoying widespread approval from Hungarian nationalists as well as from conservatives around the world inclined to his illiberal views. He changed the constitution, took over the courts and the media, and dismantled the rule of law. Admired by Donald Trump and the Heritage Foundation, Orban's influence helped shape Project 2025 and the current policies of the Republican Party. Democracy Noir tells this story through the activism of its three subjects: opposition politician Timea Szabo, journalist Babett Oroszi, and nurse Nikoletta (Niko) Antal. It details how unchecked power can quickly remove rights that once were taken for granted, and it shows how three women come to terms with their country's unravelling social and cultural landscape. Studying the recent history of another country whose political trajectory mirrors your own can bring clarity to your situation. Join us to view, and then to discuss, this example of an increasingly emboldened far right political party and the rise of autocratic politicians around the world.
