Concerns are reportedly growing within the Mets organization about Juan Soto's unhappiness, which seemed evident in his performance against the Yankees. Calls poured in discussing Soto's struggles and attitude. Boomer also contrasted Caitlyn Clark as a "needle mover" with Soto as a "negative needle mover." Jerry then played audio of Pete Alonso's errant throw to Senga, and Frank The Tank had another outburst after the Mets' loss. The segment concluded with a cameraman from the Discovery Channel's "Storm Chasers," sparking Gio's desire to witness a tornado.

Hour 1 The Mets lost to Boston, with much of the focus on Juan Soto's lack of hustle after hitting a single. Rumors suggest Soto is unhappy with the Mets, preferring the Yankees, and some in the organization are concerned. Pete Alonso also had a poor throwing error. Jerry's update covered the Mets' loss and Carlos Mendoza's discussion of hitting with runners in scoring position. Soto defended his effort when questioned about his slow start out of the box. Tyrese Haliburton expressed excitement about playing at MSG, despite an incident where Knicks fans threw trash at a Pacers fan, prompting Haliburton to invite the fan to Indiana for Game 4. Finally, the NFL is reportedly allowing players to participate in Olympic flag football in 2028. Hour 2 Boomer feels the Knicks are still disrespected despite being series favorites and second favorites for the championship. Gio believes the animosity is directed at the fan base, not players like Jalen Brunson or Mikal Bridges. Jerry provided an update, starting with Juan Soto's explanation for his slow hustle on a ball hit off the Green Monster. The "All The Smoke" podcast reportedly dislikes the Knicks due to their fans, though Brian Windhorst on the Dan Patrick show highlighted the Knicks reaching the finals, especially the Brunson storyline, as compelling. Shaq recalled David Stearns asking his preferred draft location, choosing Orlando for its warm climate. In a surprising twist, the "All The Smoke" podcast later praised the Knicks' organ player. Hour 3 Concerns are reportedly growing within the Mets organization about Juan Soto's unhappiness, which seemed evident in his performance against the Yankees. Hour 4 Discussion centered on Juan Soto's "perks" with the Mets, leading to a tangent about the availability and use of "nudie magazines" at airports and in the WFAN bathroom. Jerry's final update included sounds of the Mets' loss in Boston, highlighting Soto's single after misjudging a ball off the Green Monster. Jerry also admitted Boomer's anti-Nets stance makes him root against the Knicks. Tyrese Haliburton expressed excitement for the MSG crowd. The "Moment of The Day" revisited the "nudie magazine" in the WFAN bathroom topic. The segment concluded with discussions about dinner plans and the guest list for the "Kickoff to Summer" show.

In this episode, Tate chats with Marcus Nuccio and Evan Weiss, the driving forces behind the band, Pet Symmetry, about their latest album Big Symmetry, released on May 2. Since August 2023, the record label, Storm Chaser, has been releasing one album every month, but Big Symmetry stands out as the label's most significant release yet. Marcus and Evan discuss the power of self-releasing music, as owning their own label allows them to make all the decisions and maintain complete control over their music. They also reflect on the incredible freedom this gives them, from writing and recording to collaborating with friends in the industry, such as Mike from Asian Man Records, who contributed to this release. The duo opens up about the unique writing process for Big Symmetry, which took place in a cabin in Southern Illinois. Over the course of just seven days, the band wrote 17 songs and immediately tracked the drums, marking a departure from their usual, more spread-out approach to songwriting. Lyrically, the band challenged themselves to write 12 love songs, a task that proved difficult for some members, but ultimately resulted in a more refined, confident sound. Marcus and Evan also discuss the evolution of their music, explaining how the process and the music itself reflect their growth as musicians since they first started playing together in 2012. With Pet Symmetry marking their fourth LP, the band finds themselves at a point where they can confidently call themselves veterans in the indie music scene. Their newfound confidence, along with their years of experience, has led to a tight, like-minded group of musicians who know exactly what they want out of their music careers. The episode offers an inside look at the band's journey, their creative process, and how their decisions along the way has allowed them to achieve everything they ever wanted in music. Whether you're a fan of the band or new to their music, this conversation provides valuable insights into the world of independent music and the freedom that comes with owning your art.

Now, Phillips describes the newly designed Sentinel weather station. The 33 feet tall tower, anchored 20 feet into the shoreline, can withstand a Category 5 hurricane, including 16-foot surge and breaking waves. During Hurricane Helene, the Sentinel gathered data on wind speeds, surge, and the water's chemical and biological constituency.

Science and the Sea podcast

When a hurricane or tropical storm rolls through, most birds fly around it, or find refuge in the calm “eye” at its center. But not the Desertas petrel. It can ride out the storm, then follow the system for days—all to catch an easy meal. The petrel nests on a tiny, craggy island off the northwestern coast of Africa. There are only a few hundred of the birds, which are about the size of a pigeon. They're strong fliers: every year they make a 7500-mile round-trip to the eastern North Atlantic Ocean.Researchers attached GPS devices to 33 petrels. They tracked the birds for several weeks a year for four years. And they compared the birds' movements to the paths of six hurricanes during those periods. And they got a surprise: About a third of the birds followed the storms—something that no other ocean-going birds have ever been seen to do. Some of the petrels stuck with the hurricanes for up to five days and 1500 miles. The reason appears to be food. The hurricanes churned up the ocean, bringing water packed with nutrients to the surface. And that probably attracted some of the petrels' favorite foods: squid and small fish and crustaceans. The birds normally have to wait for night for these creatures to rise to the surface. But during the storms, there should have been an abundant supply near the surface around the clock. And the smorgasbord could've continued for days—providing a good reason for Desertas petrels to tag along.
