The Honors College receives more than 1,300 applications every year for an incoming class of 200 new freshmen. Honors College graduates earn high acceptance rates into the nation's most prestigious graduate and professional schools.     School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs

    The School of Languages, Cultures, and World Affairs was born of a desire to formalize the College's commitment to global education. LCWA is home to the most comprehensive undergraduate foreign language program in the Southeast. The Department of International and Intercultural Studies offers majors in Latin American and Caribbean studies, Jewish Studies, International Studies, 10 minors and five "critical languages" (Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Hindi and Russian).     The School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the College of Charleston is responsible for a large part of the general education curriculum of the College, with requirements in English, history, the humanities and the social sciences. With over 170 full-time faculty members, this school offers undergraduate degrees in 10 major programs and 17 minors. Our professors place a strong emphasis on the value of written expression and collaborative research, while preparing students to function as responsible, independent world citizens and engaged, lifelong learners. In addition, faculty members here have distinguished themselves as accomplished teacher-scholars. The core departments in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences include communication, political science, English, psychology, history, religious studies, sociology, anthropology and philosophy.
