As we know, if you're acting responsibly, everything is harder during this pandemic. Anyone who is back to the workplace can recognize one day often feels like three on the job. And the same goes for professional athletes, who are still often judged as if they were competing in "normal times" of 2019. Which certainly isn't the case.
As the pandemic enters another questionable phase, MLB is presented with a dilemma and also a unique opportunity... to potentially delay the season exactly one month for better outcomes on player safety, possible attendance, and getting an entire 162 game schedule complete.
The San Jose Sharks played their lowest scoring (and maybe most important) game of the season, and ended up with a favorable result, 2-1 in a shootout over the St. Louis Blues on 1/20/21.
The Sharks might be one of the NHL’s most interesting teams in 2021. Various simulations and projections predict them finishing eight-to-12 points shy of a playoff position. Yet, one look at their hungry and healthy roster could easily convince you that a stiff rebound from last season is inevitable. Just thirteen days to get fully prepared, with no exhibition games - for players with limited access to rinks and skating across the last few weeks, and a group that hasn’t competed together in ten months.
This interview with David Forst was conducted on December 15th, where the A's GM discusses the slow free agent market across MLB, and how his team needs multiple plans for the different kinds of season 2021 might present during the Covid pandemic.
Matt Olson discusses the 2020 season, including his frustrations with the bat and not winning another Gold Glove award. And on a lighter note, he introduces us to his new Labrador puppy, Cooper.

Per multiple reports on Tuesday, it appears the NHL has cleared significant financial barriers between players and the league to attempt beginning a new season on January 13, 2021. I'll discuss hockey's big picture issues, but also what it could mean for the San Jose Sharks, and even a potential relocation to Oakland.
A's manager Bob Melvin takes a bigger picture look back at 2020, including standout performances by Gold Glove finalist Ramon Laureano and Rookie of the Year candidate Sean Murphy. Also, what "temporary" rule changes could become permanent in 2021 and beyond across MLB?
Against so many odds, A's starter Chris Bassitt had a fantastic 2020 season, and was very much Oakland's ace. He chats about how things unfolded, how they ended, and some offseason news for Major League Baseball.
Are the Toronto Blue Jays really ready to tear down Rogers Centre, their only home since 1989... after just 31 years? I'm proposing a new unwritten rule of pro sports, that playing in your venue for at least 40 years should be the benchmark. Anything less... and it's considered a failure on multiple levels.
Lots of people are working very hard to help the NHL return in January 2021, but should there be some concern about hockey's ability to start a next season? There are a few large variables and moving targets to discuss. And also some reasons why you should feel confident.
We're approaching the peak offseason for MLB, and while things traditionally get dormant for baseball in the Winter: they really need to address a few things, while they can.

The 2020 pandemic certainly hasn't offered us a wealth of free time, but being home at nights together has allowed me and my wife Amanda the chance to check out several TV series that we wanted to discuss and share. No spoiler alerts, don't worry!
With double-digit game cancellations for another weekend, and health concerns spiking across the country - is it time to re-evaluate what remains of the college football season for 2020?
"Mr. Shark" Patrick Marleau is returning for a third tour of duty in San Jose. Although nobody knows when the NHL can resume, we do know Patty is not far from playing the most games in league history. We're also pretty sure you haven't seen the last of Marleau even if hockey doesn't resume in early 2021.
Most all conversation surrounding sports during a pandemic, is how the professional leagues can endure and survive. But perhaps even more important is the future of youth sports once life returns to "normal routines". Will there be enough resources in the way of donations and volunteers to keep sports running for kids? More information on how you can participate: coachingcorps.org
I'm not sure if the year will be 2030, 35 or 40... but I was daydreaming the other day... and have some high and specific hopes for the Oakland A's and their future.
This episode of the podcast was recorded during a live YouTube stream on Saturday, November 14, 2020. With Google acquiring much of the land surrounding SAP Center, and now planning to construct 65 new buildings in less than 90 acres, how might the home of the San Jose Sharks since 1993 be affected?
