Astros pitcher Hunter Brown threw two scoreless in his Grapefruit League debut today against the Marlins in Jupiter, Fla., and allowed one hit and struck out two batters-
Of course, Jeremy Pena should be AND will be the leadoff hitter, what should follow for these Astros??
John Schneider is at the combine this week, but he's not carrying a stopwatch and checking out prospects; he's there to conduct bizness. One of the items on his agenda- signing running back Ken Walker and the other Seahawks free agents. There are arguments for and against re-signing Ken Walker and it makes sense for the Seahawks to get a little financially uncomfortable in order to keep Walker, but within reason. :30- ICYMI ANDRES MUNOZ who joined us last week in Peoria and it was one of our favorite interviews of the week! :45- It's time to get Reckless at Breakfast as we continue our journey towards finding a way to stop tanking, so how about this plan? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Headlines and 12th man news with GREGG BELL (Tacoma News Tribune) Gregg got stranded in Boston but wasn't going to let a couple feet of snow stop him from getting to the Combine! He joins us from the road as he roadtrips his way from Boston to Indianapolis. What are the chances the Seahawks bring back Ken Walker? They've had plenty of chances to get a deal done before this point, but by all accounts, they haven't approached Walker or his people about making something happen. If the Seahawks don't bring back Walker, where do they spend that money? Who becomes the priority? :30- EELI TOLVANEN (Seattle Kraken) joins the show fresh off his Olympic bronze medal. His Finnish team beat Sweden for the bronze, so we ask him what makes Finland better than Sweden? How is he feeling coming off the Olympics? Is he tired? With 25 games to go, we talk to Eeli about the playoff push and more. :45- There were so many takeaways from last week in Peoria, so it's time to find out what Chuck learned at Spring Training Part 3. The organization is very excited about Kade Anderson and Ryan Sloan, but how will they be used? What we learned is that we don't expect either of them to appear much, barring injury (knock on wood) and if there is an issue, Emerson Hancock would be the 1st man up. Where does the starting pitching depth go from there? Yes, there is a chance they will both make their debuts this year, but we don't expect to see them early. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It's time for the fourth installment of What Chuck learned at Spring Training and this one is all about the new challenge system :30- It's combine week and we could see a lot of NFL news come out of Indianapolis as the execs are gathered to make deals happen. - It's possible that Aaron Rodgers could end up playing for the Vikings, which only makes us wonder what the heck they're doing with JJ McCarthy!?!? - The Falcons are going to release Kirk Cousins… speaking of screwing up, Cousins is owed $68 million next year! - Could the Dolphins trade Tua and draft picks JUST to get rid of him? Kyler Murray and the Cardinals are in a similar situation, could the two teams reach a deal for the QBs? - People will get bored with the Fernando Mendoza to the Raiders story, so get ready for the absurd speculation that they would trade the pick or take someone else. :45- We close out the show with one last thing! RUNDOWN Mitch and Hotshot Scott open Episode 372 setting the stage for the 2026 Prediction Show while reacting to Team USA's Olympic hockey gold and debating why the United States can compete in hockey but not soccer. Mitch checks in from Mariners spring training in Peoria, describing a genuine World Series vibe around the pitching staff — before admitting he needed a personal "attitude adjustment" on 22-year-old second baseman Cole Young. Mitch welcomes back Danny O'Neil, Jason Puckett, and Dave "Groz" Grosby for the 2026 Prediction Show, teasing last year's misses while crowning Puckett as the new champ. The panel makes rapid-fire forecasts on the Seahawks' 2026 season: record, playoff finish, key contract calls (Kenneth Walker, Riq Woolen, Josh Jobe, Rashid Shaheed), draft/free-agent priorities, Sam Darnold's contract future and stat lines, plus big-number projections for JSN and other core pieces. The panel shifts to college football, with Danny projecting a 12-win Washington season and a College Football Playoff berth—while also predicting major turnover with Jed Fisch and Demond Williams gone by 2027. They then pivot to baseball, where Puck and Groz forecast an AL West title and a Mariners trip to the World Series, while Danny takes the contrarian path with 88 wins and no playoffs. The panel finishes Mariners predictions with bold calls on Colt Emerson's debut date, Andrés Muñoz's save total, and the club's World Series outlook—while Danny pegs the Yankees as champions. The conversation widens to NBA expansion in Seattle, where opinions split on timeline and ownership possibilities, and then to the 2026 World Cup, with wildly different forecasts for Team USA. The segment wraps with NBA championship picks, MVP projections, and LeBron James' uncertain future as the Prediction Show heads toward its finale. The panel turns to March Madness, NFL draft projections, and bold NFL quarterback predictions before branching into golf, tennis, the World Baseball Classic, and the Kraken's playoff outlook. Danny calls for Houston to win the NCAA title, Puck backs Arizona, and Groz picks UConn—while wild swings follow on Scheffler majors, Rory's chances, and LeBron's future. The segment culminates with dramatic wild-card predictions, including a potential MLB lockout, a Jamal Crawford-led Sonics return, and a blockbuster Seahawks in-season trade. It's the best from our Monday show including Gregg Bell stuck in a blizzard and a visit from Joey Daccord!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We had a very informative conversation with Mariners GM Justin Hollander last week at Spring Training and in case you missed it, we replay a good portion of that now. From Colt Emerson and Cole Young making the opening day roster to the likelihood we see one of the young pitchers with the big leagues this year, we cover it all! :30- The Seahawks break is over as John Schneider heads to the combine and gets back to work. What are the chances the Hawks are able to bring back both Ken Walker and Rashid Shaheed on contracts that appease the players and are friendly for the organization? :45- We wrap up the Monday show with one last thing! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
JOEY DACCORD (Seattle Kraken) joins the show to talk Olympic hockey, the 2nd half of the Kraken season and more! We get Joey's thoughts on yesterday's incredible Olympic hockey game and what it means for the US to have won the gold. From one goalie to another- how impressive was Connor Hellebuyck? How ready is Joey to get back to action and how important was the break for everyone? How does he feel about where the team is right now and how does he feel personally? Does he think the Olympic success will give the NHL a boost? The Tkachuck's said the US hates Canada- will that affect things in an NHL locker room or is it just an Olympic thing? :30- What Chuck learned from Spring Training Part 2: We take a look at the platoon situation in right field and at DH. No, a platoon isn't a bad thing, even the Dodgers do it! What feels different this year? A lot, actually. :45- After Canada lost to the US, their head coach, Jon Cooper called out the overtime rules. Did he have a point or was it just sour grapes? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
US Hockey wins GOLD! What a game, what an Olympic journey as the US beat Canada 2-1 in OT to bring the gold medal back to the states for the first time since the 1980 Miracle on Ice team. Could the feat cause a renewed surge in hockey and grow the sport even more? :30- What Chuck learned from Spring Training Part 1: What's the plan for second base? It seems fans are all that convinced that Cole Young is the answer, but the Mariners sure seem to be convinced that he's the guy. Colt Emerson is being given the opportunity to win a roster spot, but the chances aren't very high that he will start the season in the majors. There is a strong chance he will get the call up during the season and they will just have to figure out where to play him. And what about Michael Arroyo? He got people talking over the weekend and could be the third baseman of the future for the M's. Ryan Bliss seems headed for a utility role after winning the 2nd base job last year and going out with an injury. Miles Mastrobuoni looked good in camp, he's put on weight and seems ready to make an impact this season in a utility role as well. :45- It's Pajama Party week as the NFL combine gets underway in Indianapolis. The American League West feels like a two horse race between the Mariners and Rangers. Can the Astros make another run at the division crown? Will the Athletics or Angels rise up the ranks? D and Z make their picks for the American League West.
Bob and Dave break down whether we should be concerned about new Seahawks offensive coordinator Brian Fleury’s lack of NFL play calling experience, they discuss how similar Fleury’s offense will be to Kubiak’s system, they look at where the Mariners stack up against the rest of the AL West, and they wrap up the show by finding out what we learned today!
How much does Lance's injury history effect Hunter Browns potential NEW contract?? ..Is LMJ giving up before this baseball season even starts!?
Mariners GM JUSTIN HOLLANDER joins the show and we have a lot to discuss. Will Colt Emerson be given a legit shot to make the opening day roster? And if so, where would he fit best? How does Emerson's status affect where Donovan will play? How difficult was it to navigate slow pace of the Donovan trade? Who is the favorite to start the season at 2nd base? What's the plan for the right-field/DH platoon? Where does Hollander see Laz Montes this season? Let's look at the depth of the starting pitchers… and how is he feeling about the health of his starting 5? We gotta get Justin's thoughts on the addition of Josh Naylor. The moves are made, but that doesn't mean they won't be looking for ways to get better as the season goes on! :30- There have been a lot of positives with this team through the first week of Spring Training, but do we have some cause for concern with this team at all? :45- The NBA is going all in to combat tanking, will it work? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Alvin Davis, Emerson Hancock, Justin Hollander and Rob Refsnyder were our guests and we recapped the week!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
ALVIN DAVIS aka Mr. Mariner, joins the guys to kick off our final day in Peoria. Who is nicer- Alvin or Andres? Nice won't win you games, but there has to be something said for the chemistry of a team that is selfless. Does this team feel more complete than it ever has before? How special is Cal Raleigh as a player and a leader and what's it been like watching his development? On the addition of Josh Naylor and what he brings to this team on and off the field. :30- EMERSON HANCOCK stops by and he still doesn't know who Nate Bargatze is! How was this offseason different than last year given how last year went? Has he carried any of his tinkering through the offseason and is he working on anything new? Did getting to be a part of the special season last year fuel his fire for this season? The relationships on this pitching staff are very special. :45- New Seahawks OC Brian Fleury met with the media and there was one thing that stood out as a little disappointing to Chuck. It's our first ever visit with Mariners' closer ANDRES MUNOZ! With the WBC coming up, how excited is Muni to play for Mexico and is he looking forward to facing Cal? He's throwing a bullpen to Adam Jude today, is he going to bring the heat? Did he always throw the fastest amongst his peers? How did he train to improve his speed? :30- Hugh Millen is back and we take the opportunity to talk about the Seahawks sale becoming official. :45- We close out the show with one last thing! See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
CAL RALEIGH is here! How have things changed for Cal in the last year? How is feeling at this point? He's going to be catching for Team USA in the WBC and it's pretty exciting. Is he looking forward to having to face Mariner pitchers? His life may have changed a lot in the last year, but he's still a Chili's guy. Was he bummed to fall short in the MVP race? What changes has he noticed in his pitching staff? Can he steal more bags than Naylor this year? How does he plan on managing the ABS this season? :30- HUGH MILLEN sits down with the guys and we work a little Seahawks talk into our baseball convo. :45- Spring training is full of shenanigans- would we want to catch a bullpen for Andres Munoz? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
It's Day 4 at Spring Training and we may have our best show of the week planned! This Mariners team is going to have some platoons, that's just how they operate, so how will some of these positions play out? The analytics will most certainly play a part in the lineup as well and we expect to see changes throughout the season in the bottom half of the order like usual. Where are the biggest camp battles? What happens if Cole Young and Colt Emerson both show out? :30- DOM CANZONE joins the show! Has he gotten bigger again? What's his offseason routine? How was his offseason and who had the most romantic proposal? Has he proven that he can hit lefties now? The outfield is getting pretty crowded, how does he feel about his place out there vs DH'ing? How does he feel about the way last season ended? The rules of pimping a home run. Will he be batting cleanup for team Italy and how excited is he for the WBC? :45- The Seahawks are officially up for sale. Should we be concerned about the changes the new owners will make? Mike Benton is in and live from the Kraken Ice Plex as the Kraken prepare to come back from the Olympic break. After what we've seen from the Mariners and Seahawks this past year, how confident are the Kraken in getting back to the postseason? Benton thinks they'll be buyers at the trade deadline. The Seahawks are officially up for sale, so who takes the reigns? Bucky Jacobsen joins us from Mariners spring training to give a realistic view of what we can expect from Cal Raliegh this year after the record-setting season we saw in 2025. While Bucky cuts loose to have a conversation with Cal, Benton poses the question to you - what are reasonable expectations for Cal in 2026? Finally, are there questions that linger about Dan Wilson as a manager? Benton sees him eons ahead of the AL West when it comes to his leadership. In The Daily Power Play! Benton checks in on the Kraken in the Olympics and gives a view of how Team USA is faring. Brandon Montour, Kraken Defenseman sits down with Benton to talk about this season's squad. We also discuss reasonable expectations for the Kraken as well as the rest of Seattle's teams this season. We check in on the texts and talk to Softy.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
